Avatar n tn Post your FT3 and FT4 levels. If you can't lose the weight, maybe you'd benefit from your levels in the upper 1/3 of the range, not just 'in range' as so many clueless endos are apt to leave you. The reason many of us don't lose weight is because many endos still don't test/treat FT3 levels.
Avatar m tn I know that my testosterone is low for my age. I plan on losing excess weight and see what happens from there. I know losing weight will lower my estradiol and raise my testosterone, but how much of a difference will it make? I would be willing to try TRT but I am scared of infertility.
Avatar n tn I think hot flushes should be given to men! ;-P I suffered greatly with hot flushes but, am going through some kind of imbalance somewhere, somehow and am seeking out help from a gynecologist for it. I've also had the weight gain...right around the mid-section. Grrrrrr. I think that most of us will say that the hot flushes and the weight gain are pretty annoying to say the least. Estrogen can cause weight gain but, can help with the hot flushes some.
1319991 tn?1274357816 48yr old male on hormone replacement therapy for over 10yrs. Being seen for extreme fatigue, loss of concentration, recent ED issues. Blood test exceptions show higher RBC & higher Fe levels as well as low FreeT levels at end of injection cycle. Dr. is considering shortening time between injections from 10 to 7 days or raising dosage from 0.5cc to 0.7cc but concerned about a possible increase to RBC count.
Avatar n tn you should speak to dr about this a Ednochronolgist for thyroid and gyno for hormone info...advice do not go to family dr for this go to the specialists. Good luck and let Remar and I know how you are please.
Avatar f tn A couple of members here, including myself, watched Robin McGraw yesterday speak about bio-identical hormone replacement therapy. Did you know that women as young as their teens can have hormonal imbalances ? And that you can show signs of perimenopause in your 20s... feel horrible and be misdiagnosed with chronic fatigue or fibromyalgia ? And yet the medical field has failed us again on this other issue.
Avatar f tn I'm not on any replacement thyroid hormone medication.

Avatar m tn About 13 months ago I had surgery to remove a pituitary tumor and I am now on full hormone replacement. For the most part my recovery has gone great. However, I believe I do have problems with either the dosage (.125mg) of my thyroid hormone or the drug itself (levoxyl). I have an endocrinologist that has been with me since the surgery and they refuse to change anything because my T4 level is in the "normal" range at 1.5.
Avatar m tn Good luck guys. I am getting the results for my hormone test next week and I am a litlle worried.
Avatar f tn The thing is, these studies are on post menopausal women. I can see where taking a replacement hormone when your body should naturally not be making this hormone anymore could be bad and I wouldn't do it. But what about the people who were thrown into surgical menopause at a time their body would still be producing it?
Avatar f tn From what I have learned from reading literature on the subject and the experiences of other posters, appropriate replacement hormone alone will usually not result in weight-loss, but it may make it easier for a person, with effort, to lose the weight they have gained over time.
Avatar n tn Im reading a lot of advice against the use of hormone replacement therapy, but the studies I have researched report that its the combination of progesterone and estrogen that is bad for you, and that estrogen alone may actually decrease the risk of breast cancer. My question then is has anybody else read any studies similar?
Avatar f tn I could be reading your first paragraph wrong - but I think there needs to be some clarification and couple of questions asked too. You say - "As I understand it, Armour is to be used in conjunction with the other thyroid meds and monitored closely, since it is a sythetic harmone replacement. " Armour is not a synthetic hormone replacement. It has a few fillers but not produced in a synthetic form.
Avatar m tn I have discontinued the use of the meds for about a month or 2. I am concerned about weight loss /weight gain and other health issues. I have been told that you cannot live without a thyroid or the replacement meds. Was wondering if anyone had luck with the natural herbs.
Avatar n tn I used folic acid and black cohosh for my symptoms. I really only had hot flashes and night sweats and using folic acid and black cohosh seemed to lessen the frequency and severity for me. This combination doesn't work for everybody. Check with your doctor before taking these supplements because they can intefer with some prescription medicines...especially for thyroid problems.
1559779 tn?1294781858 Although weight loss is more often a symptom of hypERthyroidism and weight gain a symptom of hypOthyroidism, they are not reliable symptoms of each. 5628691 tn?1402506562 I mention these things, because I went from 115 pounds to 140 in less than 3 months and struggled with my weight for over a year, before finally being diagnosed with hypothyroidism and being started on replacement thyroid hormone. I was keeping my weight steady and even managing to lose a few pounds, when all of a sudden, it skyrocketed again and after struggling with it for nearly another year, I was recently diagnosed with insulin resistance.
Avatar m tn t live without adequate thyroid hormones. Common symptoms of too little thyroid hormones are fatigue, weight gain, constipation, hair loss, cold intolerance, muscle/joint aches/pains as well as others. Typically, when one has hypothyroidism, they are prescribed a thyroid replacement hormone whose active ingredient is levothyroxine. The actual name of the medication will depend on your location.
210400 tn?1325380570 If you have postpartum thyroiditis, you may initially experience signs and symptoms of overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism), which may include rapid heartbeat, sudden and unexplained weight loss, nervousness, fatigue and increased sensitivity to heat. A diagnosis of hyperthyroidism can be confirmed by blood tests. Treatment may include beta blockers to reduce symptoms.
Avatar f tn Shortly after my radiation I started feeling a serious lack of energy, weight loss, constant headaches and many other symptoms. My endocrinologist, after following my case very closely since my first surgery, diagnosed me with adrenal insufficiency in June 2013. The radiation had damaged my pituitary gland so much that it has lost all it's function. I was put on 10mg of Cortisol in the morning and 5mg in the afternoon along with 100mg of Synthroid in the morning.
Avatar m tn is a common symptom of Hypothyroid It seems many thyroid sufferers think that thyroid replacement Hormone causes symptoms to appear, I also thought the same thing when I first started taking medication, Your system is just used to running on low hormone T3, and when you all of a sudden increase it, it kind of shocks your system, even small doses take an adjustment period, Do you have a copy of your Lab results,?
