Biaxin reaction

Common Questions and Answers about Biaxin reaction

biaxin

Avatar f tn As fas as I know, nexium (esomeprazole) only interferes with biaxin (clarithromycin). It heightens the amount of esomeprazole by inhibiting the degradation of esomeprazole. Macrobid is nitrofurantoin, not clarithromycin. You may also look here: http://www.ehealthme.com/drug_interactions_side_effects/Nexium-2792078.
723952 tn?1231857532 they are cyst-busters. I was on biaxin for that purpose (along with another med to kill the bugs after they came out of the cyst), but had a reaction to it after several months; so the dr switched me to flagyl and a different antibiotic. It's a fair question why the dr would give you two cyst busters. Sounds like a lot. Good luck with the new job!! Sounds like a good one.
Avatar f tn I do not have a lyme dx but I am working with my neurologist on it...I am also looking for an LLMD in my area. I am sure that I will have no trouble finding one near Philadelphia. I have a question about antibiotics. Since 2001, I have what I thought was an allergy to Cipro. Took it for an upper respitory infection for 3 days and had terrible problems. The Dr then gave me Levaquin, took for 7 days, with the same side effects.
Avatar n tn I also got a bad reaction to Clindamycin a feeling of big lump in throat, sore throat and severe heartburn. In spite of the fact that I drank at least 10ounces of water with each pill. My question is since I'm allergic to penicillin. What antibiotic is effective for teeth and gum infections???? Thank you.
Avatar n tn I was on plaquenil and biaxin for Lyme Disease for almost 4 weeks and just stopped taking them because I think it may have caused an allergic reaction. Last week I noticed some weird red spots on my buttocks on just one side. They looked like raised hives, but they weren't, they were flat and smooth. They didn't appear to have any dry skin on them, but I still thought it might be psoriasis, which I've never had before.
Avatar f tn all i can say is THANK GOODNESS We have started biaxin/flagyl treatment. My fiancé burned with only 15 minutes sun exposure while working outside.
Avatar f tn I was on Biaxin alone for 3mos and felt semi normal which for me is great. LLMD added Doxy and it has made all my symptoms come back worse than before. I want to quit the doxy but im told to just ride it out. I am wondering what exactly Doxy helps with? I kno biaxin helps with Bartonella for example. But what does Doxy do exactly for someone with late stage chronic lyme?
Avatar f tn Since I have gone back on Biaxin and Tindamax in the last week, I seem to hit a wall around 3pm and I can't keep my eyes open. I have taken an afternoon nap about 4 days out of 7. I am a terrible napper and rarely ever nap, even when I was at my sickest with Lyme. I guess it could be herxing from the meds, but I haven't had this in the past. I am wondering if these two drugs are particularly targeting cysts and spiros in my brain.
Avatar n tn I had 2 women perform oral sex on me and about 2-3 months later I had a chest cold and my doctor gave me biaxin 2x500mg a day for 10 days. then a few months later had amoxicillian 3x500mg a day for 10 days for another unrelated infection (my docs loves to give antibiotics) If I did get a std like gonnerea or clymidia or anything else that is bacterial would the biaxin get rid of it?...keep in mind I have had no unprotested sexual intercourse just received oral from a women.
Avatar f tn ” Secondly, what you describe, in the absence of a skin rash of some type along with the “itchiness” is probably not an allergic reaction. Were it an allergic reaction, however, it could be an allergic response to certain classes of antibiotics; for example Biaxin and Zithromax are in a class of drugs called Macrolides so that, if allergic, you might be allergic to all antibiotics in that Class.
1464587 tn?1307491605 s reaction to generic vs brand name meds, such as Biaxin/clarithromycin, but there are some instances when it can occur because of tiny differences between the specific chemical structure of the two medications. I'm puzzled that your doc doesn't seem to be jumping on this situation and trying different meds in case it IS this specific drug you are reacting to. And also I'm puzzled that he doesn't switch you to another antibiotic altogether.
1094370 tn?1317134825 Saw my LLMD in San Francisco on Friday and he said that my Erlichoisis is cleared but wants me to stay on my meds (Ketek & Cipro) for another 30 days. My testing for lyme is still coming up positive and there were more positive bands and stronger ones than my last test three months ago. He said that the meds I'm currently are on do not treat lyme. After this course of meds, I am switching to Amox & Biaxin to begin treating the lyme. My CD57 shot up from like 20 to 87 though!
Avatar m tn I was taking Biaxin 500mg twice a day for a week and then took the rpr two days later. could this affect the results in any way?
Avatar n tn - HIV at 7 weeks, 15 weeks and 9 months - STD test for Clymidia and gonnerea at about 8 months after (this was a urine test) I was concerned cause I peed about 1 hour before testing Since these exposure I have been on Biaxin for 10 days at 500mg twice a day, Amoxicillian 500mg 3 times a day ( I have been on this twice as I have a saliva gland issue for a number of years. I was also on Cipro 500 twice a day (I think) for a sinus infection. All test were negative.
Avatar m tn My doc perscribed Biaxin xl 2x 500 and prednisone 50mg 4 days if needed. Last night I was so bad I took the pred at 8pm. This morning I took the biaxin at 6am. It's been about 8 hours and my heart has sped up from about 70 to 85-90 for about an hour and won't come down. I'm afraid to take my next dose of prednisone but I've been on short bursts before with no issue. Is a resting heart rate around 90 something to be worried about?
Avatar n tn Well this is what's weird about it: The lesions come and go. The drug is Biaxin XL. I've taken plain Biaxin before at least twice, but not this XL formulation. I've been wondering if maybe I'm allergic to some other part of the pill that's not the drug.
Avatar n tn Then she said some more sores grew and they had the clear fluid on top of them. I got some generic biaxin and gave it to her. She took the biaxin and in about 2 days it started to clear up. So we both thought it was gone, then we had unprotected sex again. (I know stupid) A couple days after we had sex, she said the sores came back in the same areas as before and is hurting again. She thinks that i gave her herpes because the symptoms are very similar.
Avatar n tn They gave me a three day dose of Macrobid - which I did not consume. I am too afraid. I am allergic to the cillins (anaphylaxis), and have had a horrible reaction to quinones. Every time I thought about putting that little Macrobid in my mouth, I would start to panic. The following day, without the Macrobid, my symptoms were much improved. The day after that - even better. Thinking I'd dodged the bullet - I put the antibiotics in my kitchen cabinet to hopefully never be used.
Avatar n tn I know this is a weird question however my husband just started on it and I am afraid that I am having a reaction to it. I have allergies to Sulfa, PCN, biaxin, macrodantin..As well as a milk allergy and strawberries.
4939681 tn?1361299299 My doc explained that he prescribes it with Biaxin (Clarithromycin-an intracellular abx) because by making the body more alkaline, the Biaxin can more easily penetrate the body's cells, which makes it up to 40% more effective. There is the common belief that inflammation causes pain. Usually, inflammation is a result of the immune system at work attacking something.
