Avatar m tn Also should add, treated with Cipro 500mg for 10 days and Biaxin 500mg for 21 days for sinus infection, during the time frame of possible std infection....would this cause a delay or would it actually cure the std infection, if there was one to begin with?
Avatar f tn After having been plagued for a year or more with increasing skin flaking and cracking I was treated with Biaxin and it took about a month or more to improve by 90 pecent. There is still a little spot of dryness and lumpy skin on my right foot near the big toe and I might need another treatment now two years later. What is Biaxin? 723952 tn?1231857532 they are cyst-busters. I was on biaxin for that purpose (along with another med to kill the bugs after they came out of the cyst), but had a reaction to it after several months; so the dr switched me to flagyl and a different antibiotic. It's a fair question why the dr would give you two cyst busters. Sounds like a lot. Good luck with the new job!! Sounds like a good one.
1464587 tn?1307491605 the doctor and I decided that I should try a differnt antibiotic so we switched to the Generic form of Biaxin.... Clarithromycin...... I was on it for 2 months and dropped 18 pounds and 3/4 of my hair..... we pulled out what was in the shower drain alone and you could of made a wig out of it pretty much...... the only other symptoms I had while on this medicine apart from the hair loss is that my hands would swell and night......I had excessive bruising all over.....
Avatar n tn For the past week I have been taking an antibiotic called Biaxin (for a sinus infection) which I know can trigger yeast infections. I have had yeast infections before and some have been frightening and painful, but this feels a bit different.... There is no itchiness or discharge, but I have some redness and some concentrated red sores. There is also some pinching feeling on the skin. Does this sound like a herpes outbreak? Should I start taking my acyclovir?
Avatar f tn Were it an allergic reaction, however, it could be an allergic response to certain classes of antibiotics; for example Biaxin and Zithromax are in a class of drugs called Macrolides so that, if allergic, you might be allergic to all antibiotics in that Class. That the 4 antibiotics you mention represent 3 different classes of antibiotics, it would also be unlikely for you to become allergic to three different classes of antibiotics, pretty much at the same time.
Avatar n tn I had 2 women perform oral sex on me and about 2-3 months later I had a chest cold and my doctor gave me biaxin 2x500mg a day for 10 days. then a few months later had amoxicillian 3x500mg a day for 10 days for another unrelated infection (my docs loves to give antibiotics) If I did get a std like gonnerea or clymidia or anything else that is bacterial would the biaxin get rid of it?...keep in mind I have had no unprotested sexual intercourse just received oral from a women.
Avatar n tn I am 3 months pregnant and am prone to sinus infections and it seems the only antibiotic that works for me is biaxin. I have a sinus infection now, is it safe to take biaxin 2 pills together for ten days?
Avatar f tn At that time I was happened to be on doxycycline, rx by my dermatalogist for skin infections. All of it was way before I was dx with lyme by neurologist at the end of May. In retrospect, it is clear plaquenil only holds it at the bay, whatever it is. I would like to find out what it is so I can get proper treatment, that is proper med and proper lenght of treatment for whatever cause my trigger fingers. Doxy/Plaquneil is obviously inadequate.
Avatar m tn 3) WHen you comment on Biaxin...you say the normal dose for most infections would clear these infections...is 1g a day for 10 days a good dose or is a low dose?..I have only had it once so I am not sure what is considered a high or low dose. 4) as I have read 10% of men may have no symptoms...is it beleived that they do but maybe ignored?...IN your practice do you see pretty typical symptoms for gonnerhea? Thanks again..
Avatar m tn He gave me a prescription for biaxin, 2x a day for ten days. After doing some digging, I learned about oral gonorrhea. Could this possibly be what I have? And if so can it be cured by biaxin (antibiotic)?
Avatar f tn I was on Biaxin alone for 3mos and felt semi normal which for me is great. LLMD added Doxy and it has made all my symptoms come back worse than before. I want to quit the doxy but im told to just ride it out. I am wondering what exactly Doxy helps with? I kno biaxin helps with Bartonella for example. But what does Doxy do exactly for someone with late stage chronic lyme?
Avatar f tn My LLMD is changing my antibiotic treatment to Omnicef and Biaxin for 3 more months. Mainly because he believes Flagyl was responsible for my hormone imbalance and I wasn't able to keep it down since I got the flu. Has anyone been treated with this combination? It's the first time I have hear about it, but I have taken these before for other infections and did just fine. I am hopeful since my CD57 has gone up from 23 to 56. However, my IgM results show more Lyme.
Avatar m tn I am a man. Next day, having been prescribed Biaxin for bronchitis, I took four 500 mg pills at once. I know this was foolish, but I had panicked. 5 days later I developed an infected ingrown hair at the base of my penis. I am over forty, and I believe I know an ingrown hair when I see one - when I take Biaxin I get them all over my legs. Next day, the bump had not opened up into an ulcer. I saw a hair growing out of the middle of it, and squeezed the bump.
Avatar n tn I was on plaquenil and biaxin for Lyme Disease for almost 4 weeks and just stopped taking them because I think it may have caused an allergic reaction. Last week I noticed some weird red spots on my buttocks on just one side. They looked like raised hives, but they weren't, they were flat and smooth. They didn't appear to have any dry skin on them, but I still thought it might be psoriasis, which I've never had before.
1138687 tn?1548643978 I will probably be safe with the clarith (and I know is also called biaxin, but thanks for pointing that out!). But tomorrow I will be talking with my doctor and thanks so much for this information, it is very helpful. It's just also been stressful the past few days so it's hard for me to think clearly about what I will do. I'll give an update, tahnks again!!
90270 tn?1199334469 Anyone ever notice that whenever they take Zithromax (azithromycin) that their asthma seems better? I did...I am on Zithromax chronically for my infections and for anti inflammatory reasons (atypical CF). Prior to being put on this over a year ago, I was wheezing every day it seemed and I had more coughing. It also seemed that my asthma component took more to control. After a few weeks on the stuff, I noticed that my symptoms actually improved.
4939681 tn?1361299299 I started taking Biaxin 2 days ago for a horrible throat infection. Since then my muscles have been weak and crampy (especially my calves with restless leg syndrome as well). I also am having horrible stomach cramps and nausea and I get an overwhelming metallic taste in my mouth (almost like bile actually). And the insomnia last night was unbearable. I haven't had insomnia in over a year. Has anyone else experienced this with Biaxin?
4939681 tn?1361299299 Plaquenil is often perceived as an anti-arthritis drug used to treat connective tissue disorders. What it does is make the body more alkaline. My doc explained that he prescribes it with Biaxin (Clarithromycin-an intracellular abx) because by making the body more alkaline, the Biaxin can more easily penetrate the body's cells, which makes it up to 40% more effective. There is the common belief that inflammation causes pain.
Avatar f tn About 3 weeks or so after stopping antibiotics (Amoxicillin and Biaxin) I developed a flat, red, and sometimes itchy rash on both breasts and my stomach. Sometimes I get shooting pains in my breasts. It has not spread from these areas. I thought it could be a yeast infection, so I started applying Lotrimin cream. I've used it for 7 days and the rash isn't any better. Does this sound like it could be a yeast infection? Does the cream need longer to work?
Avatar n tn facility doctor told me I probably had chronic bronchitis (with some post nasal drip), and prescribed Biaxin 500mg 2x for 10 days. Recently, my physician told me I may have allergies and told me to take Claritin and Albuterol (only been on Claritin intermittently since my breathing is good, despite the sometimes slight wheezing). Cough is sometimes 'dry', and at other times 'productive', but with clear fluid that I usually swallow again.
