Also should add, treated with Cipro 500mg for 10 days and Biaxin 500mg for 21 days for sinus infection, during the time frame of possible std infection....would this cause a delay or would it actually cure the std infection, if there was one to begin with?

The doctor took blood and did a throat culture, in case I had strep or mono. Neither was present. BUT he gave me a different antibiotic for the sinus infection called Biaxin, for acute sinusitis, which has been working wonders after one day on it. But I just read that Biaxin is given to HIV/AIDS patients for Mycobacterium avium complex!!!! Is it possible that he did an HIV test without my knowledge and is now trying to treat me for it????

I have a bunch of symptoms that im afraid may indicate something serious. blotchy rash on my neck, chest palms and groin; loss of sensation and discoloration of my penis; cold sweats; constipation and difficulty urinating w no pain involved. I've had a sinus infection and ear infection for sometime now but just started taking biaxin yesterday. Not much improvement..could I have some kidney or liver issues due to years of cocaine abuse?

just one last point, the biaxin and amoxicilian were taken at different times around 2-3 months apart. Biaxin was for a Resp infection and the amoxicilian was for my saliva gland issue. These all have been taken throughtout the last year since exposure. Would Biaxin or amoxicial cure syphlis by themselves?. no more questions from me so I would like to thank you for your time!.

I am a man. Next day, having been prescribed Biaxin for bronchitis, I took four 500 mg pills at once. I know this was foolish, but I had panicked. 5 days later I developed an infected ingrown hair at the base of my penis. I am over forty, and I believe I know an ingrown hair when I see one - when I take Biaxin I get them all over my legs. Next day, the bump had not opened up into an ulcer. I saw a hair growing out of the middle of it, and squeezed the bump.

He was on an antibotic 2 weeks ago for an ear infect and 4 days ago he was coughing so bad his dr ordered sinus x ray and he has a bad maxillary infection on both sides. i was prescribed more antibiotics by a french doctor when i still had the sore throat (he was not familiar with the biaxin xl) and an antifungal triflucan for the tongue, which he attributed to the antiobiotics. The coating is not really going away though, and while I did not take the full course of the new antibiotics, I have been taking the antifungal. I know that oral sex without ejaculation is low risk, but is this coating a bad sign?

She put me on steriods and 2 weeks of Biaxin. Both gave me some relief but not complete. Now I have lots of sinus pressure, no real drainiage and puffy eyes. They did a RAST and I am not allergic to anything in the air and my Ige is negative SO that means that it is in my sinuses and not allergies. I hate this pressure in my eyes, face..it makes it so hard to function. I am getting a CT tomorrow and am so afraid of what they may find. I'm so ready to feel normal again.

Was in ER yesterday with chills, low grade fever (had for weeks), COUGH (had for weeks). Chest x-ray ok. Told to take Biaxin (2 500mg pills once a day for 3 weeks), along Prednisone Pack, and an inhaler CT Scan results: 1. Small focus of soft tissue density at the anterior left ethmoid sinus. 2. Since I have gone back on Biaxin and Tindamax in the last week, I seem to hit a wall around 3pm and I can't keep my eyes open. I have taken an afternoon nap about 4 days out of 7. I am a terrible napper and rarely ever nap, even when I was at my sickest with Lyme. I guess it could be herxing from the meds, but I haven't had this in the past. Doc gave me 500mg pills twice a day for 5 days. and I took them for 3 days then stopped for 2 day then finished the last 2 days after cause I found out that I have to do all of them. they are cyst-busters. I was on biaxin for that purpose (along with another med to kill the bugs after they came out of the cyst), but had a reaction to it after several months; so the dr switched me to flagyl and a different antibiotic. It's a fair question why the dr would give you two cyst busters. Sounds like a lot. Good luck with the new job!! Sounds like a good one.

I would ask the doctor for a different type of antibiotic like Biaxin or Bactrum. It might help if you saw a pulmonologist for an accurate diagnosis and more effective treatment. Another idea is that you are having allergy issues. If you identify your allergen and practice avoidance measures, that could take care of the problem as well. If avoidance cannot be accomplished affective treatment of allergies will be necessary.

I've had a sore throat off and on (mostly on) for about 3 weeks now. I went to the doctor last Friday and was prescribed Biaxin 500mg twice per day. I've been doing this for 5 days now and there's been no improvement. The pain seems to move around my throat and neck area but its always intense. Saw my LLMD in San Francisco on Friday and he said that my Erlichoisis is cleared but wants me to stay on my meds (Ketek & Cipro) for another 30 days. My testing for lyme is still coming up positive and there were more positive bands and stronger ones than my last test three months ago. He said that the meds I'm currently are on do not treat lyme. After this course of meds, I am switching to Amox & Biaxin to begin treating the lyme. My CD57 shot up from like 20 to 87 though!

I just moved to Denver from Chicago. Right before we left, I could tell I had a sinus infection, as I have a long history of sinus issues. I also have stomach issues, history of a couple ulcers. For the past week I have been taking an antibiotic called Biaxin (for a sinus infection) which I know can trigger yeast infections. I have had yeast infections before and some have been frightening and painful, but this feels a bit different.... Were it an allergic reaction, however, it could be an allergic response to certain classes of antibiotics; for example Biaxin and Zithromax are in a class of drugs called Macrolides so that, if allergic, you might be allergic to all antibiotics in that Class.
