Biaxin for bartonella

Common Questions and Answers about Biaxin for bartonella

biaxin

Avatar f tn I was on Biaxin alone for 3mos and felt semi normal which for me is great. LLMD added Doxy and it has made all my symptoms come back worse than before. I want to quit the doxy but im told to just ride it out. I am wondering what exactly Doxy helps with? I kno biaxin helps with Bartonella for example. But what does Doxy do exactly for someone with late stage chronic lyme?
4939681 tn?1361299299 s thinking and testing! Are the results for Bartonella as difficult to read as Lymes? Also, he said the treatment for Bart is the same, doxycycline. However, I thought that I've read differently from you on here. What do you think??? Ps I'm still keeping my LLMD appt, unless mammogram indicates something else unfortunate.
4939681 tn?1361299299 Plaquenil is often perceived as an anti-arthritis drug used to treat connective tissue disorders. What it does is make the body more alkaline. My doc explained that he prescribes it with Biaxin (Clarithromycin-an intracellular abx) because by making the body more alkaline, the Biaxin can more easily penetrate the body's cells, which makes it up to 40% more effective. There is the common belief that inflammation causes pain.
4451049 tn?1387153437 Thanks for unintentionally clearing that up for me Jackie! I went to someone about my vision, thinking I was going to get an eye exam and I did but it was one that you read the letters of various sizes. Not what I needed!! The diagnoses... astigmatism! And I was given glasses that didn't help and sent on my way. So I wasn't sure who I was suppose to go to. I need my eyes physically examined. Like physically looked into. Whatever they call that, I am not sure.
1138687 tn?1548643978 I will probably be safe with the clarith (and I know is also called biaxin, but thanks for pointing that out!). But tomorrow I will be talking with my doctor and thanks so much for this information, it is very helpful. It's just also been stressful the past few days so it's hard for me to think clearly about what I will do. I'll give an update, tahnks again!!
Avatar f tn sounds like bartonella, I remember my feet feeling like they had been chopped off at the ankles and I felt like I was walking on the raw ankles.
Avatar m tn Also should add, treated with Cipro 500mg for 10 days and Biaxin 500mg for 21 days for sinus infection, during the time frame of possible std infection....would this cause a delay or would it actually cure the std infection, if there was one to begin with?
Avatar f tn Since I have gone back on Biaxin and Tindamax in the last week, I seem to hit a wall around 3pm and I can't keep my eyes open. I have taken an afternoon nap about 4 days out of 7. I am a terrible napper and rarely ever nap, even when I was at my sickest with Lyme. I guess it could be herxing from the meds, but I haven't had this in the past. I am wondering if these two drugs are particularly targeting cysts and spiros in my brain.
Avatar m tn I also took biaxin for a throat problem a week ago. Doc gave me 500mg pills twice a day for 5 days. and I took them for 3 days then stopped for 2 day then finished the last 2 days after cause I found out that I have to do all of them. Would this have cured anyt sti? Sorry for long question doc just want everything answered at once.
723952 tn?1231857532 they are cyst-busters. I was on biaxin for that purpose (along with another med to kill the bugs after they came out of the cyst), but had a reaction to it after several months; so the dr switched me to flagyl and a different antibiotic. It's a fair question why the dr would give you two cyst busters. Sounds like a lot. Good luck with the new job!! Sounds like a good one.
Avatar n tn Have you considered lyme disease? Facial tinging is a common lyme symptom See the symptom list far below. (This is only some of them...there are really more than 70.) The key to getting diagnosed properly is the doctor. I had a terrible time back in Feb-April of 2010 with weird symptoms, dizziness, anxiety, forgetfulness, brian fog, twitching, etc, etc. I had dozens of tests, including a lyme ELISA test...all normal.
1094370 tn?1317134825 Saw my LLMD in San Francisco on Friday and he said that my Erlichoisis is cleared but wants me to stay on my meds (Ketek & Cipro) for another 30 days. My testing for lyme is still coming up positive and there were more positive bands and stronger ones than my last test three months ago. He said that the meds I'm currently are on do not treat lyme. After this course of meds, I am switching to Amox & Biaxin to begin treating the lyme. My CD57 shot up from like 20 to 87 though!
166496 tn?1236182312 Welcome -- sorry to hear you've joined the ever-growing ranks of Lyme patients, but glad you got a diagnosis! Others will chime in here, but my best advice is to find a Lyme specialist for a consultation. You can get a referral from contact [at] ilads [dot] org ILADS is the main voluntary physician's group for those who think progressive thoughts about Lyme.
Avatar f tn I was hoping that some of you out there might be able to tell me what the long term effects of bartonella are. I was diagnosed with bartonella 9 years ago when I was 18. At the time I was treated with erythromycin and then I never had any follow up. I didn't intentionally not follow up, I was not told to come back. Just to take the antibiotics and I'd be good to go.
Avatar n tn m allergic to Penicillin and Sulfa, I just finished taking Doxycycline for a week and feel better. Thanks for the information.
Avatar f tn My LLMD prescribed it for me along with Biaxin, which is used to treat intracellular Lyme and Bartonella. He said that the Plaquenil makes the body more alkaline, which allows the Biaxin to more easily penetrate infected cells. He said P makes Biaxin up to 40% more effective. And so, that might explain why P helped your fingers, but not permanently. P eases inflammation, but does nothing against an infection.
Avatar n tn just one last point, the biaxin and amoxicilian were taken at different times around 2-3 months apart. Biaxin was for a Resp infection and the amoxicilian was for my saliva gland issue. These all have been taken throughtout the last year since exposure. Would Biaxin or amoxicial cure syphlis by themselves?. no more questions from me so I would like to thank you for your time!.
6402846 tn?1391063748 m still in treatment after 2 1/2 years. I started with Bicillin shots and orals for Bartonella. Bart seemed to be gone after six months so we stopped treating it. After nearly a year, I was diagnosed with Babesia and started abx for it. I felt worse for the next 8 months. Just as I started to fell better, I got slammed by a Bartonella relapse, worse than I'd had before.
Avatar m tn My doc perscribed Biaxin xl 2x 500 and prednisone 50mg 4 days if needed. Last night I was so bad I took the pred at 8pm. This morning I took the biaxin at 6am. It's been about 8 hours and my heart has sped up from about 70 to 85-90 for about an hour and won't come down. I'm afraid to take my next dose of prednisone but I've been on short bursts before with no issue. Is a resting heart rate around 90 something to be worried about?
Avatar f tn I was on Biaxin, which is brand name for clarithromycin. Why did your MD not check the box for generic, which is generally a lot cheaper but is technically the same drug? It's a fairly common drug. If you order online from a reputable/well-known website, you may be able to get a better price than at the corner pharmacy. If you belong to WalMart or perhaps Target or similar stores, I understand their pharmacy charges are quite reasonable.
