I want to quit the doxy but im told to just ride it out. I am wondering what exactly Doxy helps with? I kno biaxin helps with Bartonella for example. But what does Doxy do exactly for someone with late stage chronic lyme?

I was on biaxin for that purpose (along with another med to kill the bugs after they came out of the cyst), but had a reaction to it after several months; so the dr switched me to flagyl and a different antibiotic. Saw my LLMD in San Francisco on Friday and he said that my Erlichoisis is cleared but wants me to stay on my meds (Ketek & Cipro) for another 30 days. My testing for lyme is still coming up positive and there were more positive bands and stronger ones than my last test three months ago. He said that the meds I'm currently are on do not treat lyme. After this course of meds, I am switching to Amox & Biaxin to begin treating the lyme. My CD57 shot up from like 20 to 87 though!

I was hoping that some of you out there might be able to tell me what the long term effects of bartonella are. I was diagnosed with bartonella 9 years ago when I was 18. I started with Azithromycin, and then a week later on Rifampin for Bartonella. At six weeks, I stopped the azithromycin and started Bicillin shots.
