Hello. I've been more or less healthy all my 48 years, except for hypertension, which i've been under control for with meds. I have some acid reflux, which has not been diagnosed as well.
For the last 2 months, I have had a chronic cough (and at times wheezing, tickling of throat), that waxes and wanes in intensity, often bothersome at night.
I have built up a tolerance to Levequin, Zithromyacin, Amoxicillin, after 9 years of COPD and now have bronchitis. Any suggestions for other potential antibiotics or other ideas?
I would ask the doctor for a different type of antibiotic like Biaxin or Bactrum. It might help if you saw a pulmonologist for an accurate diagnosis and more effective treatment.
Another idea is that you are having allergy issues. If you identify your allergen and practice avoidance measures, that could take care of the problem as well. If avoidance cannot be accomplished affective treatment of allergies will be necessary.
The doctor thought it was bronchitis and gave me biaxin to try and prevent pneumonia (I have an IgA deficiency and have had pneumonia 7 times and I'm 23, 4 cases in the past 3 years). Now it's almost a week later and the bronchitis is pretty much cleared up but I am STILL running a fever. Non-stop I have been running this low grade fever (99.5-101.4) for two and a half weeks. I have not gotten it to break at all (I've even tried ice packs).

Afterward, the sore throat was gone and the "bronchitis feeling" was gone, but I was still wheezing deep down in the my throat and coughing. Next tx was medrol dose pack. I made a mistake, and told my MD that I would like to try BACTRIM, instead of BIAXIN, for my ongoing respiratory infection,so that is what she prescribed. I,ve been on it 5 days with no improvement. Should I call her and tell her of the mistake? 20 days of LEVEQUIN, preceeded by 20 days of AMOXICILLIN,did not overcome infection.I'm assuming BACTRIM will be to mild? Any thoughts? I,m feeling worse daiy and can't get into JOHNS HOPKINS yet. Thanking You in advance.
5 degree fever and a horrible cough that hurt my chest badly (felt like bronchitis) but my doctor told me it was a viral infection but gave me an antibiotic anyway called Biaxin. Well, I felt better within 3 days but then I noticed a red throat with small red blotches on my soft palate. It didn't hurt at all, they just felt bumpy when I touched them with my tongue.
I have been frequently prescribed antibiotics (no penicilin or sulfa as I have been allergic since a child) over the past two years for having several bouts of sinus infections, throat infections and bronchitis symptoms. Suddenly, since April I started developing strange symptoms while taking any antibiotic. Hi my son who is 13 has been violently coughing for over 3 weeks, he first was given strep throught meds. Then he was given a puffer and biaxin for broncitis. He has violent coughing attacks, which takes his breath away and he vomits. this happens quite often all day and night. I am worried. If you can give me any answers it would help.
Consequently, I visited a local walk-in clinic in a diagnostic center, was re-diagnosed with bronchitis and put on Biaxin, which appears to have cleared things up. At the same time I visited a naturopath, who put me on a probiotic to counter the effect of the AB and it has done wonders for the bloating/pain associated w/IBS. None of this has had any effect on the "sweats". What tests would you propose to discover whether there is a chronic infection?
I was taking Biaxin 500mg twice a day for a week and then took the rpr two days later. could this affect the results in any way?
On that Tuesday, I went to the doctor and was diagnosed with Bronchitis and a sinus infection. WBC was 15000. I received a Rocephin and Decadron injection and was placed on Biaxin for 10days. I still have a low grade temp (not less than 99.4) and also have joint pain and night sweats. I went to my gynecologist for my yearly checkup and told him all this and he drew another CBC. He mentioned a systemic infection as well as possible lymphoma or leukemia.
- HIV at 7 weeks, 15 weeks and 9 months
- STD test for Clymidia and gonnerea at about 8 months after (this was a urine test) I was concerned cause I peed about 1 hour before testing
Since these exposure I have been on Biaxin for 10 days at 500mg twice a day, Amoxicillian 500mg 3 times a day ( I have been on this twice as I have a saliva gland issue for a number of years. I was also on Cipro 500 twice a day (I think) for a sinus infection.
All test were negative.
My doc perscribed Biaxin xl 2x 500 and prednisone 50mg 4 days if needed. Last night I was so bad I took the pred at 8pm. This morning I took the biaxin at 6am.
It's been about 8 hours and my heart has sped up from about 70 to 85-90 for about an hour and won't come down.
I'm afraid to take my next dose of prednisone but I've been on short bursts before with no issue.
Is a resting heart rate around 90 something to be worried about?
ve been taking the medicine for at least 10 or 11 days at 1000 milgrams of each both biaxin and flagyl daily..and should have stop taking them along time ago ..is this common?
He gave me a prescription for biaxin, 2x a day for ten days. After doing some digging, I learned about oral gonorrhea. Could this possibly be what I have? And if so can it be cured by biaxin (antibiotic)?
May I also ask what length of time would I take the Biaxin? And is there any home treatment, Like garlic pills etc. that would help augment healing? ( since Biaxin is not considered the best treatment.) Although I'm stuck with that. And frankly, I was on the Clindamycin for weeks and that didn't get rid of the infection, so maybe a broad spectrum antibiotic will work for me. I sure hope so. thank you again for your advice.
Three weeks ago I went to the doctors and they told me I had acute bronchitis after giving me a chest x-ray and I was given 250mg of azithromycin to take for five days to treat it. The problem is i never took the medicine and now three weeks later i feel worse than ever.
Orginally, I had a dry cough, no fever, no body aches but i did have sharp pain when i took a deep breath but i did have blood streaked sputum.
