Hello. I've been more or less healthy all my 48 years, except for hypertension, which i've been under control for with meds. I have some acid reflux, which has not been diagnosed as well.
For the last 2 months, I have had a chronic cough (and at times wheezing, tickling of throat), that waxes and wanes in intensity, often bothersome at night.
I have built up a tolerance to Levequin, Zithromyacin, Amoxicillin, after 9 years of COPD and now have bronchitis. Any suggestions for other potential antibiotics or other ideas?
It reduces the inflammation and thins the mucus. It is useful in both infectious and non-infectious bronchitis. No side effects.
My son and I have been to specialists and got nose swabs blood work and chest x-rays done. Nothing has been suggested. We have taken meds and puffers nothing is working. I have been coughing then leads to vomiting either flem or froth, and gasping for a minute or so out load to replace hair in my lungs.It is the most horrible thing... I get headaches and feel very tired. But told that we are to just relax and takes time :( Well to take time it's been over a month that we have been so sick!!!
The doctor thought it was bronchitis and gave me biaxin to try and prevent pneumonia (I have an IgA deficiency and have had pneumonia 7 times and I'm 23, 4 cases in the past 3 years). Now it's almost a week later and the bronchitis is pretty much cleared up but I am STILL running a fever. Non-stop I have been running this low grade fever (99.5-101.4) for two and a half weeks. I have not gotten it to break at all (I've even tried ice packs).
If I was infected with any of the above, would an 8 day course of Biaxin resolved these? And yes it was 8 days and not the usual 10 for whatever reason.
2. I've read on this site that most of these STD's resolve themselves within a few months even without treatment, but other medical and government websites specifically say the exact opposite and say only way to get rid of infection is to seek treatment. Which is it?
she said I had sinusitis and bronchitis and put me on a Z-pak for 1 wk. Afterward, the sore throat was gone and the "bronchitis feeling" was gone, but I was still wheezing deep down in the my throat and coughing. Next tx was medrol dose pack. The wheezing disappeared for a couple of days, then returned. My IGA,s, and others, are only 520, and he says that is why I have chronic bronchitis. She says the hemoglobins are low due to steroids. Is this also true??? I'm too confused to know what to do as these shots are to be taken for many weeks and are VERY expensive. HELP!
It is now a year and a half after I had unprotected vaginal intercourse with this guy and I recently came down with an illness that left me with a 100.5 degree fever and a horrible cough that hurt my chest badly (felt like bronchitis) but my doctor told me it was a viral infection but gave me an antibiotic anyway called Biaxin. Well, I felt better within 3 days but then I noticed a red throat with small red blotches on my soft palate.
I have been frequently prescribed antibiotics (no penicilin or sulfa as I have been allergic since a child) over the past two years for having several bouts of sinus infections, throat infections and bronchitis symptoms. Suddenly, since April I started developing strange symptoms while taking any antibiotic. The antibiotics I've taken since April are Avelox, Zithromax, Clindamycin and Biaxin (all of which I haven taken previously over the years w/ no problems).
I had 2 women perform oral sex on me and about 2-3 months later I had a chest cold and my doctor gave me biaxin 2x500mg a day for 10 days. then a few months later had amoxicillian 3x500mg a day for 10 days for another unrelated infection (my docs loves to give antibiotics) If I did get a std like gonnerea or clymidia or anything else that is bacterial would the biaxin get rid of it?...keep in mind I have had no unprotested sexual intercourse just received oral from a women.
Consequently, I visited a local walk-in clinic in a diagnostic center, was re-diagnosed with bronchitis and put on Biaxin, which appears to have cleared things up. At the same time I visited a naturopath, who put me on a probiotic to counter the effect of the AB and it has done wonders for the bloating/pain associated w/IBS. None of this has had any effect on the "sweats". What tests would you propose to discover whether there is a chronic infection?

I've had ongoing stomach issues for as long as I can remember. When I was child I was told that I was lactose intolerant. In highschool I always had an uneasy stomach and then as I got older I started to get severe cramping. I mean severe. The cramping would always be followed by diarrhea and then more cramping and then diarrhea. That would last for a night or a day sometimes longer and then it would stop.
So three and a half years ago I finally got it checked out.
Last week I was diagnosed with a duodenal ulcer and am taking Amoxicillin, Biaxin and Prevacid. I am one week into treatment and feel only marginally better.
My question is about stomach tenderness. Is a tender stomach normal with a peptic ulcer? My entire stomach area, from just below my breasts, down to my navel, is very tender to the touch. When touched it produces like a burning/stinging/bruised feeling. Depending on the day, or time of the day, the pain is greater or less.
My LLMD is changing my antibiotic treatment to Omnicef and Biaxin for 3 more months. Mainly because he believes Flagyl was responsible for my hormone imbalance and I wasn't able to keep it down since I got the flu. Has anyone been treated with this combination? It's the first time I have hear about it, but I have taken these before for other infections and did just fine. I am hopeful since my CD57 has gone up from 23 to 56. However, my IgM results show more Lyme.
On that Tuesday, I went to the doctor and was diagnosed with Bronchitis and a sinus infection. WBC was 15000. I received a Rocephin and Decadron injection and was placed on Biaxin for 10days. I still have a low grade temp (not less than 99.4) and also have joint pain and night sweats. I went to my gynecologist for my yearly checkup and told him all this and he drew another CBC. He mentioned a systemic infection as well as possible lymphoma or leukemia.
Not sure where the rest of post is. Day 2 - 500mg Clarithromycin & Amox 875mg that night. This morning took 500mg of both Clarithromycin & Amox, and Ceftiaxone 1gm IV. I am aware of CDC guidelines and think that this single dose of rocephin & a total of 5gm of Biaxin over 4-5 days (in place of Azithromycin) should be effective? How long should I wait to engage in intercourse with my significant other?
Thanks for the answer...just one last point, the biaxin and amoxicilian were taken at different times around 2-3 months apart. Biaxin was for a Resp infection and the amoxicilian was for my saliva gland issue. These all have been taken throughtout the last year since exposure. Would Biaxin or amoxicial cure syphlis by themselves?. no more questions from me so I would like to thank you for your time!.
Mepron/atovaquone and Zithromax/azithromycin for Babesiosis first, then when that was extinct, Biaxin/clarithromycin and Omnicef/cefidnir for Lyme. Took 15 months, start to finish. Overt symptoms had been few, mainly tiredness but not the crushing fatigue others of us have had. Tests were initially run on the family only at my stubborn insistence, and I was dead-dog sick with the same things, Lyme and Babesiosis. Go figure.
