Avatar m tn But worldwide the accepted treatment would be for you to have a disease modifying drug - at present there are four standard ones - Copaxone, Rebif, Avonex, and Betaseron. All of these are injections. They may or may not help to slow the progrression of your disease. There are new drugs beings worked with too - one is Tysabri, which is an intravenous drug that is given monthly. You might ask about that. We have some members here who got worse and would not walk, but now can walk.

Avatar m tn Copaxone, Rebif, Avonex, and Betaseron. Other medications are used (like the Solu-Medrol) during attacks, and to help with symptoms (like Provigil for fatigue). There are other medications that are used when the CRAB drugs aren't working, but have risks and side effects (like Tysabri). On this site, there's a lot of information about medication and treatment, relapses, and pseudo-relapses, etc. in the Health Pages (see upper right hand corner).

2116593 tn?1334749913 I am a 31 yr old female who was diagnosed w/multiple sclerosis in 2005. I have had a couple of relaspes since, however,I have full recovered. Two months ago,I was rushed to the hospital in excruciating just to be diagnosed again. Only this time it was tmj. My question is is tmj more severe to a person with ms as to a person without? The pain from the ms is pretty bad, however, can be managed. Where as the pain in regards to the tmj is unbarable! It literally takes my breath away.
Avatar f tn I have been on Betaseron for 2 years with no side effects and am happy with it. Obviously with the NHS I have no choice about the change. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

382218 tn?1341181487 New preclinical data presented at European Committee for Treatment and Research of Multiple Sclerosis (ECTRIMS) in Prague suggests that FTY720 (fingolimod) directly reduces neurodegeneration and enhances repair of the central nervous system (CNS) damage caused by multiple sclerosis (MS) by interacting with sphingosine-1-phosphate receptors (S1P-R) expressed on brain cells.

Another Bayer spokesperson said the average cost of hospitalization for severe MS relapses is about $12,000.
Avatar f tn Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Drugs | Avonex | Betaseron | Betaferon | Copaxone | Rebif | I happened to see this the other day, it was listed on http://www.themcfox.com/multiple-sclerosis/ms-drugs/avonex/avonex-blood-counts.htm updated 2004, it might be worth finding out if your having a negative reaction and need to change DMD.
Avatar f tn We moved and I saw another compassionate neuro who listened and with the MRI and clinical evidence diagnosed me with ms in 1991. Began betaseron and stayed on interferons prescribed by 3 neuros until 2006 when I went to university of Utah ms clinic. I was told brain MRI showed no lesions and lp was normal so didn't think I ever had ms or it was "burnt out" took me off avonex.

Avatar n tn Hi Ryan, I want to ask your advice on ativan for longterm treatment of some of the symptoms of MS. I have had Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis since 2001. Took Betaseron for 3 years and quit due to horrible side effects. I have remained stable with not much changes since 2001 except for severe anxiety panic attacks that the specialists feel are connected to the brain lesions I have. I take beta blockers and also 1/2 to 1 mg of Ativan daily.

1168718 tn?1464983535 Consensus Statement urges early treatment and wider access for MS drugs Early treatment of multiple sclerosis (MS) is important and access to proven therapies should not be restricted by where a person with MS happens to live, urge the Canadian MS Clinics Network and the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada.
Avatar f tn Many of us are in limbo and have symptoms like yours. Many have been trying to get an accurate dx for years. It's awful! You are in good company here. I doubt if any of us can say what the chances are that you have MS. There are so many things that mimic the disease. If you think your doctor has stopped looking, find a good neurologist. Read the health pages here and elsewhere, and don't give up on finding out what is wrong, whether it is MS or something else!
Avatar m tn One of them said it is all due to ur anxiety ( Cause i do not have any bladder problems and dizziness, numbness tingling all is due to anxiety) but one said its Multiple Sclerosis+ anxiety. My MRI and EEG were clear. Currently i have high frequency of muscle tingling through out my body only when i am lying on bed plus i see double vision of any statement especially ( white in colour) on TV and laptop. Is it MS? Should I start taking Med for MS or just let it be and hope it will go away?
Avatar f tn My dad was also sprayed with Agent Orange and has numerous medical problems and so do my brother and I; both conceived after Vietnam. I would go to www.publichealth.va.gov/exposures/agentorange/ Then under "Related Diseases" click on "Veteran's Disease's" or under the heading "Benefits" click on "Disability Compensation" and then read and click on other links within those categories.
