Avatar n tn Hi again, Miss Sassy, I did a little research and found this info on a variety on pills to aid in the treatment of (type 2) diabetes. In case you or others were thinking about "sugar blockers" as a way to describe the general class of meds to help treat Type 2 diabetes, this info from Joslin might be helpful. http://www.joslin.harvard.edu/education/library/beginnerguide.
Avatar m tn If you are overweight, please reduce weight. Reduce how much carbohydrate you eat at meals, and try to add in at least 30 minutes of exercise after each meal, if at all possible (walking would be fine). Let us know how you go.
Avatar f tn I wrote in last week , i was hoping to hear an answer about the hormone blocker pills?

Avatar f tn I have been formally diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and possible Carbohydrate Intolerance. My issue is when I eat a load of carbs, it hits up to 3 days later and I can't hardly get out of bed and am weak most of the day. Everything I read about Carb Intolerance says that fatigue usually hits within the first few hours. Has anyone else experienced this? Carb crash, a day or days after the carbs are eaten?
Avatar m tn Due to stomach problems, I have decided to try a Specific Carbohydrate Diet. Has anyone experienced relief on this diet? So basically, this is what I got from it- fresh vegtables, fresh fruits, lean meats, most nuts, NO LACTOSE, NO SUGAR (except in fruits and honey), and NO STARCHES. Is this about right? Also, what is the policy on yogurt and coconut milk?
Avatar n tn Hi - 49yo male in otherwise good health, had an mi and placement of 3 stents in RCA. Was told that there was no damage to my heart, and have returned to all activity including hi-intensity workouts (which I was doing pre-mi). I've put on about 30 "pity-pounds" (from 185 to 215) and despite increase in exercise and near-saintly eating habits, having a hard time losing. I suspect that Toprol is causing this problem.
7020218 tn?1426544951 I would say try to avoid caffeine and salt if you have bp issues and sugary carbohydrate foods and see if it helps. If you have any stomach issues address those as they can trigger ectopic activity. Finally work on stress and anxiety as best you can. They are the biggest source of triggering ectopic beats. It sounds like you have had the battery of tests that show that your diagnoses isn't because of heart disease but getting a second opinion is always good idea.
315318 tn?1353251800 Given your medical history a beta blocker may be the best choice so you should discuss your options with your cardiologist. Good Luck!
1645208 tn?1301072177 Fish oils and all oily fish are extremely good for dogs. Omega 3 oils, all-round healthy for dogs and people. Tuna, sardines, salmon, mackerel.....(mind the bones. They can be dangerous of course) The bones in canned fish are ok, they are softer and not only edible but an excellent source of calcium too.
907968 tn?1292622204 Oh, and that's a take off from Ed34's question on multi-use pills.
Avatar f tn That would depend on what pills you are taking. Asthma inhalers and Singulair are used to gether all the time. They are meant to work together to improve lung function. If you are talking about some other type of pill, like a beta blocker, there could be issues with your ashtma and beta blocker do cause shortness of breath.
Avatar m tn just been put on insulin after 25 years of pills, told to take 4 units, but after 4 hours sugar is 450, after a 200 reading in the morning and eating only oatmeal.
Avatar m tn Alright so the came to the house last night and put me on these 3 pills Ativan Paxil and some kinda beta blocker what I don't know the name of, but the only thing I've been taking was Ativan cause it's the first one I've taken and trying my best to take the next pills which is the Paxil but the other pill the beta blocker I only take at night but didn't even take but my problem right now is I've been takin the Ativan twice a day for the past 3 days so far but it seems lik
675923 tn?1296238011 My daughter was put on a beta blocker one month ago for test anxiety to be taken as needed. She is in college, 19 yrs old. We have noticed her behavior has changed from fairly nice to obnoxious this past month. It could be boyfriend issue (he is done with college and leaving for home). I started wondering if this could be a side effect from the medication.
1266263 tn?1270153368 When you deplete your glycogen stores, as can happen during repeated days of hard training and a low carbohydrate diet, you feel overwhelmingly exhausted. Eating high carbohydrate foods like cereal, pancakes, bread, fruit, vegetables, potato, pasta on a daily basis can help you train harder and compete better. All the best.
Avatar f tn 5 mgs daily and it is a more pulmonary or lung friendly beta blocker. I found out that it is the beta blocker most pulmonary doctors recommend it their patients need beta blockers... However there is no generic for Bystolic and it is more expensive... I sure do like it better than the Metorpolol though... its worth the extra cost..
1283391 tn?1271517988 I was wondering if anyone on here has heard of a nerve blocker? My doctor at the National Pain Institute has mentioned the treatment to me. I have been having severe pressure and pain all over my head specially at the base of the skull for about 6 months now. There has not been a medicine that can help it at this point I am having an MRI done next week.....
Avatar f tn I do not suffer from insomnia. My doctor knows I take both beta blocker and calcium channel blocker to control my heart rate, yet did prescribe the sleeping pills.
768044 tn?1294223436 If your neurologist does end up putting you on a blood pressure medication, and it turns out to be a Calcium Channel Blocker instead of a Beta Blocker... let me know! I'd be interested in knowing how it went. It's good that your other doctor is airing on the side of caution when it comes to prescribing things...
