An EKG, 2D ECho of the heart, carotid duplex scan of the neck vessels, a TEE to rule out a patent foramen ovale ,determination of kidney function, a 24 hour urine collection, coagulation factor levels,thyroid hormones,serum sodium levels may need to be determined.
Watch your diet.Decrease salt intake and exercise daily.Brisk walking for 20 minutes at most days of the week may be beneficial.
I suggest that you be evaluated further for your condition.
I have being training for several running races for 5 months. Before going into a preparation for a half marathon training, I went to the cardiologist to do a check up, as I know my BP always was borderline to be considered high. I did Echo, Stress tests and 24h BP measurements. Echo and stress went all right, but BP was slightly high, my mean systolic pressure was 133 and mean diastolic was 83, with the maximum during the test being 148 an 100.
Causes like hyperthyroidism, renal artery stenosis (by dopplar studies or MRI), abnormal kidney function (by kidney function tests), hyper function of adrenals, Cushing’s syndrome, abnormal liver function etc should be ruled out. At times no cause of high blood pressure can be found and this is termed as essential hypertension. What you can do is reduce salt intake, take alcohol with caution or better avoid, quit smoking if you do and reduce total calorie intake in a day.
You can register and ask for a list of doctors who use the Marshall Protocol in your area. I believe I used this function years ago and got a list of doctors. My doctor who I have now uses Benicar, however does not follow all aspects of the protocol. She says the Benicar helps the antibiotics work better which I guess is the theory behind the Marshall Protocol. You can also try to google "marshall protocol doctors" and see what comes up.
my bun is 63 and my creatine is 8.02 and im 60 yrs. old.
I would like to know what further testing can be done to find what this problem.is my cardioligist said last cath showed heart function was on lower side of normal i am 58 years old never smoked and am 6 ft and weigh 220 lbs and have always been active.... my meds are.... benicar 20mg for blood preasure. 40mg pravastatin.. and 25 mg topral daily. my fear is with no blockages that i have a heart defect that is going undetected that could be serious.
My PCP removed the metropol and put me on benicar 20mg. A couple of weeks later I went to see a cardio doc for chest pain and dizziness. He admitted me overnight and They did a stress test with an echo, they also did 3 blood tests to check to see if i had a heart attack. Everything was fine and he switched me to Coreg. The chest pains got worse and my PCP switched me from the Coreg to Benicar 40mg since my BP was not low enough and my chest pains increased on the Coreg.
Although I am not cynical when it comes to the medical profession, I know there are drugs of preference from doctor to doctor. I was on Benicar HCT for 4 years before moving and finding a new doctor. One of the first things he did was pull me off Benicar and put me on Lisinopril, a beta blocker. I had a terrible reaction to this drug, I couldn't workout and my heart rate stayed at 50 - 55 BPM.
Thought we finally found one that worked. The doctor gave me Benicar 20mg and it helped (so did losing 20 pounds) but my BP was still borderline. Then he increased the Benicar to 40 mg. I am having some strange issues that I think are from the Benicar. When I awake from sleeping I have trouble opening my left eyelid. Once I am up this goes away. Now all of a sudden I cannot put the milk gallon in the refrigerator without using two hands.
When Dad is in heart failure he needs additional dosages of diaretics. Too much diaretic can effect kidney function and too little will effect heart function. We did see a kidney specialist concerning this, and the primary care physician is in communication with him.
Dad also has vascular dementia. I know how hard dealing with memory loss can be for both patient and family. I will keep you all in my prayers.
I recently had open heart surgery, 4 bypasses. I was on Benicar 20mg. a day before the surgery along with Zocor to control cholesterol. I am now on Plavix, Toprol XL, Zocor and Benicar. My blood pressure has been low, in the range of 90/60 since the surgery but the cardiologist wants me to continue the Benicar. He said it's "good for the heart". Has anyone ever heard of this before? My understanding was that Benicar is for high BP.
I've recently been having terrible anxiety and one of the changes in my life is that I've started taking Benicar 40mg for high blood pressure. I saw on a post somewhere that benicar can cause this. Has anyone else heard of this?
About a year ago I was put on high blood pressure medication, Benicar 20mg a day. I have never had any types of heart issue and in the last year have developed or started to notice regular PVC's. I have had them checked out and they are PVC's and they drive me nuts because they make me feel real uncomfortable. Could the PVC's be caused by the benicar?
Dear Doctor, I am a healthy 36 year old male. In the last year I was put on Benicar 20 mg for high blood pressure. In that year I have began to notice PVC's that started occassionally and now are happening everyday all day. They drive me crazy. My blood pressure is under control and I exercise regularly. Could the Benicar cause the PVC's? I have had them checked out with my doctor and they tell me that they are okay and that they are PVC's. They drive insane.
Lately, I have been diagnosed with high blood pressure (on benicar now) and yesterday I saw a neurologist who told me that I have mild Carpel Tunnel and a pinched nerve. For the last two days, I have a dull headache in the back of my head and am filling kind of weak, also I feel like I am moving slower, like my speech and thoughts. Am I just freaking myself out or is there something seriously wrong with me?
