My resting pulse rate was between 50 and 60, now with benicar is above 70. My question - Is this really the medicine side effects ? which drug could be better to not affect my running performance? Am I really with high blood pressure, because I've read some people saying that for people who are very active, it's common to have low pulse rate and relatively high systolic pressure?
If you have time to shed a little light on this, I would appreciate it. After two weeks on Coreg and just a small decrease in BP, I took 20mg Benicar this morning (10mg four hours apart), and my BP went down to 98/60 (normal for me). My headache all but vanished, and I feel limp as a dishrag.
Why did Coreg not hit the mark, while little-known Benicar did? Is this an indicator of the cause of my high BP and headaches? Thank you.
a day before the surgery along with Zocor to control cholesterol. I am now on Plavix, Toprol XL, Zocor and Benicar. My blood pressure has been low, in the range of 90/60 since the surgery but the cardiologist wants me to continue the Benicar. He said it's "good for the heart". Has anyone ever heard of this before? My understanding was that Benicar is for high BP. Also, I have been feeling very down and blue a lot of the time.
The chest pains got worse and my PCP switched me from the Coreg to Benicar 40mg since my BP was not low enough and my chest pains increased on the Coreg. A new cardiologist did a nuclear stress test and a calcium score test and i wore an event monitor for 21 days.and it came out negative for any problems. I have also had a renal ultrasound, an abdominal ultrasound, cartoid artery ultrasound, x-ray of back and neck and all were fine.
34 is considered moderate kidney disease. You may want to google kidney diet and try some of that. There is a thread a ways back 'Diet does make a difference' where I go through what my kidney doctor told me to do when I was at a GFR higher than yours (mind you I was 36 at the time so they were a bit more concerned).
Before the Losartan, I was taking 90 mgs of Armour (which is T3 AND T4) daily. After just a few weeks on the Losartan, I became hyperthyroid for a while, and my doctor lowered my dose of Armour (down to 60.)
I have not noticed heat intolerance, but I am losing weight--slowly (which I don't mind as I am about 20 lbs over bikini-wearing level.)
Never heard of the Marshall protocol, but I'm going to look it up!
About a year ago I was put on high blood pressure medication, Benicar 20mg a day. I have never had any types of heart issue and in the last year have developed or started to notice regular PVC's. I have had them checked out and they are PVC's and they drive me nuts because they make me feel real uncomfortable. Could the PVC's be caused by the benicar?
Dear Doctor, I am a healthy 36 year old male. In the last year I was put on Benicar 20 mg for high blood pressure. In that year I have began to notice PVC's that started occassionally and now are happening everyday all day. They drive me crazy. My blood pressure is under control and I exercise regularly. Could the Benicar cause the PVC's? I have had them checked out with my doctor and they tell me that they are okay and that they are PVC's. They drive insane.
Lately, I have been diagnosed with high blood pressure (on benicar now) and yesterday I saw a neurologist who told me that I have mild Carpel Tunnel and a pinched nerve. For the last two days, I have a dull headache in the back of my head and am filling kind of weak, also I feel like I am moving slower, like my speech and thoughts. Am I just freaking myself out or is there something seriously wrong with me?
I am a 72 y.o. white male in generally excellent health. I've had HTN for years, always well-controlled with meds. Two weeks ago my BP spiked, literally overnight, from ~118/74 to 210/116 (yes, I know that;'s dangerous!) At the time I was on Benicar 40 mg. I added amlodipine 10 mg (my doc trusts me to self-titrate) and that helped somewhat--down to ~160/92. Then she added spironolactone 25 mg (that's a diuretic).
I also take a diaretic and blood pressure meds. my doc took me off linsinopril and put me on benicar, and prednisone to stop itching. it hasnt worked at all. It has been very poor air quality in california due to all of our fire, and she says I could be allergic to some of the particulates in the smoke. I have been putting Sarna Lotion on the itchy spots, belly legs back and arms, which alleviates some of the irritation but not for very long. Any other suggestions?
Please note that for the past 10+ years my mother has been taking Verapamil 240 mg in the morning and Benicar 40 mg at night. Her blood pressure spike really high which is why she takes the strong Verapamil in the morning and a softer blood pressure medication (Benicar) at night. Anyway, after the episode where I had to take her to the emergency room we got her back on her usual routine of Verapamil and Benicar.
I believe I used this function years ago and got a list of doctors. My doctor who I have now uses Benicar, however does not follow all aspects of the protocol. She says the Benicar helps the antibiotics work better which I guess is the theory behind the Marshall Protocol. You can also try to google "marshall protocol doctors" and see what comes up.
I have been put on Benicar 40mg BID and Procardia 30mg PM.. My readings are taken 7am always 160-175/100 or more. After taking meds in the am they go down in about 2hrs to 145-90 arange. In the evening they go up again 150-170/117 I'm feeling like at times I can't even think straight nor walk straight for that matter. My vision is blurry when pressure is high accompanied w/ CP and upper back/arm pain. I'm at my wits end .My cardi has ordered a Renal MRA.
He fought changing me so I told him I was going to change doctors and he finally relented and but me back on Benicar. I love that drug, works great and no side affects for me. I'm fairly sure the doctors at my new health care provider gets some kind of incentive to prescribe other drugs than Benicar, but who knows, maybe that's how I got Benicar in the first place!
High blood pressure can be due hardening and occlusions of the coronary and system vessels and can be secondary to another medical issue. Sometimes hbp is ideopathic meaning the underlying cause is not known.
If your hbp is secondary to heart vessel disease, a stress test would be appropriate and/or echocardiogram to determine if there has been any enlargement of the heart and if there is any heart wall movement impairment..
