Azelastine optivar

Common Questions and Answers about Azelastine optivar

astelin

Avatar f tn Optivar (Azelastine) is an antihistamine, a fairly potent one, but you might want to ask your eye doctor about possibly using a corticosteroid eye drop to quell the severe allergic reaction. Also, you might want to consider the use of wrap-around or sealed glasses to reduce the amount of airborne allergen reaching your eyes. Itching is one thing – pain is another especially bad eye pain. Probably just that awful feeling of gravel in the eyes.
Avatar m tn Went to doctor to get steroid shot they usually work but nothing. Doctor also prescribed Azelastine took awhile to pick it up. There was mix up with where it was sent. Was I glad when I did pick it up... HELL YEAH! Not only did it help with allergies but that hellish itch was gone totally. Just like that UNBELIEVABLE! Don't know why. Can't find any info that Azelastine would help with that problem. BUT IT DID! there is no doubt in my mind. Its not a coincidence.
Avatar m tn I take Optivar and it seems to help. I was on Patanol..which I find helped prevent my eye allergies as where Optivar I take when I get them. Try one of those. I have THE WORST allergies so, if it helps me it should help you. Those over the counter eye drops wont touch it. Hope this helps!

Avatar f tn I notice a trend lately where my symptoms gets like achiness and bloodshot eyes are are really bad at night especially the blood shot eyes. I take optivar (allergy eyes) and systance and yet everyday I still seem to have bloodshot eyes. I have also had a lot of blurry spot vision and then some days I am perfectly fine. Anyone else have something likes this?
Avatar f tn I was wondering too, my Rheum gave me optivar and systane for my eyes and though the itching has somewhat been relieved I am still seeing blur spots all the time. My eyes were recently checked and I 20/20 vision and no peripheral problems. Should I still see my Rheum about this or just wait to go to the LLMD? I only ask because my Rheum was even reluctant about testing me for Lymes, but I really don't know what else she will do about this.
Avatar m tn He said I had mild symptoms and to try either patanol, zaditor or optivar. He did multiple tests on me including, the shirmer test on me the first time and said that my tears were fine(the one with the paper) I started Zaditor which seemed to work a little and switched to optivar which I dont think helps much. I will go back to zaditor or patanol. (Or if this is something unrelated to allergies it doesnt matter-is there a preference? While things seemed a little better.
Avatar f tn azelastine and fluticasone. She also put me on Ranitidine. I also use the nedi-pod. I started feeling better, but after the 30 day supply, I began feeling it all come back. Saw GI and he put me on Dexilant 30 day supply and that did not help. I went back to ENT. She put me back on everything plus methlprednisolone (6 day). I started feeling better for a good month. Even stopped the sleeping pill. Then I started feeling it all come back. Went to ER after a weekend of suffering.
Avatar n tn the dr did give me Optivar to take when i went last time to see him for this. Will Nasonex or nasal spray have this as a side effect? I was thinking allergy too since it goes down within hours of getting up. But why does it only happen during the night time?? i've been reading other post here and it seems to happen overnight with a lot of those who have written on this board. What is the deal with it happening during the sleeping hours and just in one eye and not the other??
Avatar f tn Since June I have been suffering from extremely dry eyes. I saw my optomotrist, and she prescribed optivar, and Soothe XP. That didn't help, so next she perscribed Lotemax along with the Soothe XP. Still no help, so now I am on Restasis, Lotemax, and SootheXP. Along with this I have to apply cold compresses , & bought an extra humidifier for my bedroom. It's getting to the point of impacting my jb, which is driving as a Courier 8 hrs a day. Will this go away as quickly as it came on?
Avatar f tn What else can I do? I moved to Louisiana in the USA and I got terrible eye allergies, Very Very Puffy, itchy, Red eyes for days, I can varely open my eyes sometimes. I already got the vaccine shots "all of them" "for months", I tried Pataday, Optivar, Vigamox, Astropo, Veramyst, Zyrtec, Benadryl, Naphcon A, all together! by doctor prescription, and my allergies are worst than ever. I did the tea bags, the ice spoons on my eyes, everything at home is against allergens.
Avatar f tn I’ve been through all the allergy tests, I’ve tried all sorts of dietary modifications, tried budesonide nasal rinse, flonase, azelastine, cingulair, magnesium supplements and any food that Google tells me is ‘anti inflammatory’, i try to eat. There is no correlation with the weather, no correlation to where i sleep (traveling to hotels, staying home). I’ve had extensive bloodwork and nothing obvious going on there.
Avatar m tn Suggest you try OTC Zaditor, if that not work see an Eye MD and try prescription RX like Pataday or optivar if that not work then discuss a mild steroid containing drop like Alrex or lotemax.
Avatar m tn I have this pain that I experience all day every day accompanying the other 10 problems the I experience every moment of every day of my life. I'm experiencing a pain in the top-back of my head, it is just a pain I can feel every time I breath or don't breath for more then 2 seconds. It seems to get worse the longer I wait to inhale. I've gone to around 20 doctors and no one really knows what the **** is wrong with me. I'm currently on Azelastine that seems to do nothing.
Avatar m tn I have been on restasis for about 4 months and I have been on optivar on and off for about 3 years. I am allergic to everything. I am pretty depressed that I can't make this redness go away, it is embarrassing. Please let me know if you have found a solution in your case.
Avatar n tn Hi girls, I am a 26 yr old who is looking to get pregnant in about 4 months and i have chronic hives, ive had them for about 4 or 5 years, but they never used to bother me much because it would only be the odd two or three mosquito bite size hives, although about 18 months ago they suddenly got heaps worse, covering my upper arms, chest and face cheeks. I see an immunologist every 3 months who helped me get a combination of antihistamines that would keep the hives at bay.
Avatar n tn My MD just switched me from Alrex to Optivar drops (a non-steroid antihistamine). Maybe you can ask your MD about using that.
