avonex

1746440 tn?1311509508 t find much about this as a side effect on-line) or am I in that lucky 4% of Avonex users who have hair loss. If it is the Avonex, will it stop as my body gets used to the drug? Good God I hope so! Any insight is appreciated, as this is really stressing me out.....which can also cause hair loss!!!
649926 tn?1297657780 Hi! I am sorry for all of you that are also suffering hair loss. As if we don't have enough to deal with! My family thought that I was making a big deal out of nothing until I washed my hair and ran my hands through and came away with a full hand of hair. We are not talking your usual hair loss here!
Avatar f tn m pretty sure that I have seen someone on this site ask about hair loss with Avonex, maybe they will see this and answer you.
Avatar f tn I will start with a quick update. Since I have posted my last post I have had a full spinal MRI on a 1.5T. ( the radiologist was a total jerk when I asked what magnet was in the machine) They ordered this because I was falling. Since then I have had burning sensation and sharp like pains that feel like nerves bursting thats quite painful and muscle spasms have started to move my finger. (very creepy) Well I went to my hair dresser tonight and she told me my hair is FALLING OUT!
1040373 tn?1273687488 Also know that we all go through times of predominant hair loss and times of predominant hair gain every year. The thyroid is the first thinkg I would have checked out. Hyperthyroidism causes thinning and loss and hypothyroidism cause slowed hair growth and coarseness.
559187 tn?1330782856 Well, I was on Copaxone a couple of months only (horrible allergy) and have been on Avonex for going on 3 years, and no unusual hair loss. This is just anecdotal, of course, but I haven't read any reports of this about the CRABs and they've been around a long time now. Didn't know Gilenya caused this. Ugh!
Avatar f tn Sigh, I have a question from a friend. She would like to know if avonex causes calcium deficiency? She is diagnosed with ms. Not like me.
4735388 tn?1358539687 Hi, I have been on Gilenya for about a year and a half. There seems to be some common side effects. I take it in the evening as it can increase your fatigue. But taking it in the evening, it doesn't seem too bad. Several of us have experienced some hair loss (though they won't tell you it's due to the Gilenya). I've only heard about about a couple of individuals who have had the abdominal pain, but I have not experienced that.
1168718 tn?1464983535 Hi Candy, I just saw your post and wanted to send my condolences for your loss. It's tough to lose anyone, but his young age makes the loss particularly tragic and sad. So sorry for you and your family.
Avatar f tn I used Avonex for 396 shots (7+ years), and after going to Gilenya on Halloween I’m going back to Avonex this month. The flu-like side effects of Avonex are most common, but often easily minimized. Some keys are to keep hydrated, inject in the afternoon or evening (preferably Fri/Sat if you work a standard week) and use drugs such as Tylenol, Advil, Aleve, etc. For me the side effects lessened over time. However, I know of others that found them intolerable.
Avatar f tn I have used Avonex for years, and I consider it a “success” because my condition has not deteriorated and I haven’t had a relapse in years. But you will find Copaxone, Rebif, and Betaseron users that will tell you the same thing. On the other hand, others take those medications and still face significant disease progression and/or find the drug side effect intolerable. Many users of newer oral drugs also find success, although those drugs have not yet stood the test of time.
1936411 tn?1333831849 Thanks, Candy. I am NOT looking forward to hair loss (hope I'll be one of the lucky ones). Sorry to hear that you're deadling with the side effects. I've heard a lot of people swearing by Biotin to combat the hair loss, but I haven't done any research to see if there exists any unbiased substantiation of those claims. Have you tried anything to fight the hair loss, and if so, have you had any luck?
Avatar f tn Not much in the way of side effects except that a lot of hair loss for the first 3-4 months. It went away after that and haven't had anything else that I could really call a side effect. I am nearing my one year anniversary and that means I'll have to start paying my copay for it. If you don't already, Novartis has a program where you don't even have to pay the copay for the first year. I have put that saved money to good use for sure. Check out the group on FB.
Avatar f tn Low iron levels can cause hair loss. You might want to get that checked.
Avatar f tn I'm losing hair too. Not in clumps but I clog the drain once a week from my hair loss. And all my friends said their hair was so full and healthy during pregnancy and after lost some. I get a ball of hair during evey wash and its not normal for me also my scalp itches like crazy and I don't have bugs lol o had my husband check lol!
Avatar f tn It started freaking me out so my hubby looked it up and said the number one cause of hair loss in women is pregnancy...
Avatar n tn I lost a ton my first pregnancy. I was taking OTC prenatals. This time around my doc recommended prescription prenatals and I haven't had any hair loss or breakage this time. And bonus, the prescription prenatals are free with Affordable Healthcare Act!
Avatar f tn Especially after combing my hair, there is a ton of hair in the sink. However my hair seems to be growing as fast as it falls out so I have thickness still. Someone told me to drink more milk and I find on the days that I do I see less shedding.
Avatar f tn It makes me depress everytime i see how plenty of hair i loss. I tried every hair fall shampoo but none of those worked. I don't wanna comb my hair anymore.
Avatar f tn Is Anyone experiencing hair loss during pregnancy I thought I was Going to have this really beautiful hair but is not working out that way does it mean that I'm going to have a girl?
Avatar f tn Ever since I got pregnant I noticed a lot of hair loss, my hair just falls like crazy! Has anybody else expirenced this?
Avatar f tn I'm very early in my pregnancy and I've noticed some mild hair loss. I have a lot of hair so it's normal for me to shed but this is a lot more than usual. Anyone experience this during pregnancy? Or maybe its due to something else?
Avatar m tn I actually posted about this a month or so ago. I have hair loss that really started post Tx. My hair didn't grow hardly at all during Tx, than about 6 weeks post Tx it really started falling out, probably lost 50%. Everyone says it should grow back fine after 6 months post Tx. I figure it is the least of my worries. Looking for my SVR12 in 3 weeks. Hang in there.
