Hello,Im a male taking Avodart for hair loss but im worried,by what the information is regarding pregnancy.
My question is can i still try to conceive while im taking avodart.
How will this medication effect my sperm count and also will my sperm have this medicine in them.
Will it cause a birth defect if I should get my girlfriend pregnant.
Also if we try for a child how long will it take for the tablets to be out of my stysem
Any help would be very much appriecated..
When I developed gynecomastia (which is minor and I ignore) I lowered the dose of AVODART to one twice a week which is 8/month (from 15/month). AVODART has a long half life. Will 8/month still work? I wrote to GLaxo who make Avodart and they said what you said "ask your physician". My physician is very busy and I don't want to waste his time. My next appointment is in June and I will ask at that time if I don't have an answer by then.
Hello sir, I am a female 33 years old(this week) and experiencing hair loss. I've never had to deal with hairloss issues and have always had thick black hair. It all started last winter with dandruff that I ignored(didnot use any antidandruff shampoos and was washing hair once a week) that turned into snow tons of dandruff and I continued to ignore it for about 4 monts (from Jan to April) During the month of March, I lost 4.5 lbs, and had a major certification exam in April, which I passed.
Please help me understand! I have just been diagnosed with hypo and am taking levo. 42 yr old woman. I have all the classic symptoms like insomnia, weight gain, intolerance to cold, extremely sore breasts amongst several others. However the one I fear the most is the hair loss!! At this point I haven't noticed any loss, just a dryer texture and a bit of lack luster. I have searched everywhere but cannot find an answer to my question! Does EVERYONE who is hypo lose hair???
Hello 2 months ago I had protected sex with a female partner with her sexual health status unknown. I am a 24 year old male. I am still terrified that I will have a recurrent mild outbreak. After possible exposure I didn't have any symptoms of an outbreak. So my question is. Is it possible to have an asymptomatic primary outbreak and then have a recurrent outbreak with lessons and prodrome? I have a female partner in a monogamous relationship and I don't want to infect her.
I am a female 44yrs and about a month ago my hair started falling. Propose that your partner try Avodart. I think it really helps with prostate enlargement. That is what the television commercials say anyhow.
Unfortunately it also can cause a large reduction in semen production.
AND women wanting to become pregnant should NEVER touch the pill as it can cause birth defects if they are exposed at all to it.

I am a young female with PCOS. The initial complaint that I brought to my doctor was experiencing hair growth on my face, excess hair growth on my arms/legs/bikini, and hair loss on my head. I've since begun laser hair removal on my face and arms, but I am about 4 treatments in (24 wks) and am not noticing results. It is becoming more and more difficult to hold my head high- many days I don't even want to be seen in public.
I'm a 25 year old female who is experiencing kind of sudden frontal hair loss. Hello, I have been having severe hair loss for quite some time and had basically given up and accepted it’s just female pattern alopecia (even though it is not in my familial genes)....until recently. I was recently found to have a B12 level of 236. From what I have read even though that is considered within normal ranges, anything from 200-400 is low and can cause symptoms. I was placed on OTC supplements.
I am a 55 year old female with loss of hair on her forearms and eyebrows. I have a some thinning at the temples. My TSH is 2.570 - which my GP says is normal. He thinks hair loss may be a result of stress, however, I have not been under any more stress than normal life. I have had high cholesterol and osteoporosis for many years, which have not responded to meds. What do you think? Can you have a normal TSH and still have a thyroid issue?
first of all- did you check her for tinea capitis? (a fungal infection of the scalp, with round patches of hair loss, breaking of hair, and scaling?) it is easy to treat !
if it is not this and dermatologist did not find the answer, a biopsy of the scalp is reasonable.
connection between hair loss and bowel movement- maybe some nutrient deficiency- vitamins, iron, celiac disease, a pediatric dermatologist might help.
I am a 26-year-old female with no family history of female hair loss. Most men in my family also have their hair except for my father who has had some hair loss (but isn't completely bald). I recently saw a dermatologist for hair loss that had been occurring for a few years. He looked at my scalp and told me, after listening to my hair loss history, that it seemed to be early onset female pattern hair loss.
What is normal time to stay Avodart ? The doc give enough for 3 weeks but I would think I would need to stay on for longer than that. I have had no side effects as I know of and I believe it has helped. How long has others stayed on this ? Thanks for any help.
I'm 68 years old and have had Cataracts for over 2 years. I've been taking Avodart for over a year. Should I stop taking Avodart and wait awhile before cataract surgery or will the informed Dr be able to work with my eyes? I've never taken Flomax and have heard the warnings from the commercial and read about Flomax. I'm concerned about any complications.
I'm also pretty active. Can I still swim after surgery and what are the chances of the lens shifting or coming loose?
s and as you know, being female and caring about your hair go hand in hand. I use Suave dry shampoo to make the hair appear thicker. My forehead area has noticeable thinning and you can see right through to the scalp. The dry shampoo makes each strand appear thicker therefore covering my bald spots, per say. I do have dark blonde hair though... not sure how brown or darker hair would respond.
Even getting older an cause it, smoking, taking various medications (not just avodart), gaining weight, etc. Do you find you also have erectile dysfunction? Avodart, unfortunately, is associated with these side effects. It's unclear though how long they will last. What does your doctor say? What prompted starting the med? Your psa looks pretty good.
