avinza oxycontin drugs

Is morphine (avinza) a stronger narcotic than percocet? I have 60 mg tablets of avinza, so if I take one of those, is that like taking 6 of the percocet 10/325?

My PM doctor's nurse put me on various drugs until Avinza, then I stayed on it for the last few years. I have severe, life threatening Respiratory problems and my memory is getting much worse. I am 100% disabled from a car wreck. I am medically retired. My wife is here with me, so I am not alone. I got my dosage down from a high of approximately 450-500 mg a day to 30mg of Avinza a day. Oxycodone is for BT pain. I took my last Avinza at 10pm Sat, July 19.

s a day and liked the Avinza so much better. Avinza is basically 24 hour time release Morphine. I take two 90 mgs caps every morning. And it keeps me from going into wds and gives a good base of coverage.. way way better than I had for the year I was on the patches.

Everbody has their own rock bottom and until your friend reaches his own, he will continue on this path which will lead to more drugs or harder street drugs as you probably already know. There are suboxone and methadone clinics you could refer him to. You are a good friend to stand by him and be so concerned.

Can you build up a tolerance to avinza? After taking avinza for several months, my daughter just didn't get any relief from it anymore. She quit taking it for a while and then started using it again and it's working. The pain clinic nurse practioner say's that you cannot build up a tolerance to it.

took 25mg methadone,still withdrawling,took 80mg,oxycontin,will i feel my dose?

I have been in pain managment for 4 year with back and neck issues. I am prescribed Oxycontin 40mg 4x's daily and hydrocodone 10/325 4x daily. Thinking of switching to the patch. Do I need to wean off oxy before using the patch. Do i need to worry about od ing because of the halflife of oxy? So one day I guess they will tell me to stop taking oxy and start the patch i am assuming 100mcg to = what I am taking now. Any help would e great. Pros and Cons to the patch?

Why any doctor or pain management clinics would switch to oxycontin is beyond me. MS Contin is bad enough, Oxycontin is far worse. I was addicted to oxy within a day and spent most of my time sleeping about nineteen hours a day. I was too lethargic to get out of bed other than going to the bathroom or grabbing a bite of food which had no taste and which I ate very little of. Had no interest in TV, visitors, newspaper etc. I was like a zombie.

I wanted to clarify that your husband is taking the extended release form of oxycodone which is called Oxycontin and no I would not take these drugs together. I was only saying that doctors do prescribe the oxycodone short acting as a break thru medication for someone taking methadone so I see no reason to completely detox from the Oxycontin before starting the methadone but PLEASE ask your doctor and pharmacist!

My third visit to PM Dr is in two weeks and I am not getting any relief. I take my medicine as prescribed. I went from 10/325 oxycodone 4x a day to 30mg avinza, and now I am taking 45mg avinza still with no relief. My pain remains between 5-8 with 9 most evenings. I dont want to be labeled by telling my doc I am not getting any relief. I am looking for suggestions.

anyone have any problems with Avinza? (morphine sulfate extended release). My dr said that it had an antagonist that made it non addictive. He prescribed it to me alone with Norco (high dosage)- I stopped taking both, and it's been 6 weeks, but I'm still struggling.

Anyone have experience using avinza for this purpose? I am extremely wary, as he is odd in his responses to drugs. Persistent detox pain mystifies his doctor(s), except for one who expected it! Thanks very much.

question is how to get my doc to understand? I was told that i should be on Oxycontin with no acetaminophen stuff...help??? I know it wont take the pain away...I'm just looking to be able to "deal" with it...but I understand that I'm digesting way too much Tylenol stuff???

My daughter was told at her pain clinic that she could not build a tolerance to Avinza. My daughter has to be taken off of Avinza and put on something else for a while and go through terrible withdrawl, including restless leg syndrome, then she sees the nurse again and has to argue with her to get her to put her on Avinza again.

d EVER want to go on something stronger, like Oxycontin. My mom was on that **** for terminal cancer, and the Dr told her the only reason they put her on it was because she'd never have to come off of it. I think it would be great though if they came out with a lower APAP formula though. I've always thought that it was kind of overkill to have 500mgs per tablet. That's the same as in extra strength Tylonal!

Please don't see me as preachy. I am a nurse and sometimes I see that people don't fully understand what they're taking. OXYCONTIN is PERCOCET = Oxycodone (the diff here is that Oxycontin is a continuous acting med, hence the name "contin". It is meant to be taken BID or twice a day (every 12 hours.) It is so that someone with more pain isn't having breakthrough pain everytime their 4 hr. pill is up. You also get relative round-the-clock protection.

I go to NA and AA meetings and I have heard of some people smoking pot now and not considering it a relapse. They still pick up chips. They say they smoke to ease anxiety or to help them sleep. I really don't understand this....

Are there any natural medications that I can buy from CVS that will help with withdraw symptoms form opiates including oxycontin? I went to my doctor and he said it was not his field and refered me to a rehab center. I cannot go to a facility, I will lose my job!! I have to so this cold turkey, any advice would be helpful. I lived, she had a nice wedding. But even on drugs - the back pain was so intense, I screamed bloody murder. My son had to carry me home and place me in bed! So why take the stupid drugs? I wasn't on them for psychological reasons - just physical. BUT - that doesn't make the prospect of getting off any easier! I took less than prescribed - so had enough to last for 1 1/2 years after my doctor retired. After getting a new pain doctor - things were quite different.

Is it possible that marijuana and oxycontin abuse could have caused this? I havent touched oxycontin in over six months, four months before I had my first anxiety attack...I stopped smoking marijuana two months ago and after all the ER visits and everything checking out fine(heart and lungs), I still have episodes of panic but now Ive been feeling like im in a dream...I cant stop thinking about what could have caused this mess...

Has anyone had any withdrawl problems with Avinza if they miss one day of medication??

I spent three years on 640mg of OxyContin. I have lost the last three years of my life as a result. Last Wednesday I decided enough was enough and went cold turkey. I woke up three days later in intensive care on life support. I have been to hell and back and dragged my wonderful beautiful and amazing family through the worst experience of my life but I am now Oxy free. I am a cronic pain sufferer and can only walk a very short distance now so ok there is a trade off, no Oxy no mobility.

I dont know if this is gonna help you, but let me give you a start on what I went thru hopefully briefly. Hydo, 5/500 7.5/500 10/500..then straight to duragisic patch when they realized it was real and the MRIs results came back and 6 or so months post op back surgery was in an MVA.I've been a pain patient for many yrs, but chronic pain treatment was just beginning. Skipping the PM quacks 3 of them really made life miserable, I had a different specialist handle my care.
