avinza oxycontin

Is morphine (avinza) a stronger narcotic than percocet? I have 60 mg tablets of avinza, so if I take one of those, is that like taking 6 of the percocet 10/325?

s a day and liked the Avinza so much better. Avinza is basically 24 hour time release Morphine. I take two 90 mgs caps every morning. And it keeps me from going into wds and gives a good base of coverage.. way way better than I had for the year I was on the patches.

I have been in pain managment for 4 year with back and neck issues. I am prescribed Oxycontin 40mg 4x's daily and hydrocodone 10/325 4x daily. Thinking of switching to the patch. Do I need to wean off oxy before using the patch. Do i need to worry about od ing because of the halflife of oxy? So one day I guess they will tell me to stop taking oxy and start the patch i am assuming 100mcg to = what I am taking now. Any help would e great. Pros and Cons to the patch?

Why any doctor or pain management clinics would switch to oxycontin is beyond me. MS Contin is bad enough, Oxycontin is far worse. I was addicted to oxy within a day and spent most of my time sleeping about nineteen hours a day. I was too lethargic to get out of bed other than going to the bathroom or grabbing a bite of food which had no taste and which I ate very little of. Had no interest in TV, visitors, newspaper etc. I was like a zombie.

My third visit to PM Dr is in two weeks and I am not getting any relief. I take my medicine as prescribed. I went from 10/325 oxycodone 4x a day to 30mg avinza, and now I am taking 45mg avinza still with no relief. My pain remains between 5-8 with 9 most evenings. I dont want to be labeled by telling my doc I am not getting any relief. I am looking for suggestions.

My PM doctor's nurse put me on various drugs until Avinza, then I stayed on it for the last few years. I have severe, life threatening Respiratory problems and my memory is getting much worse. I am 100% disabled from a car wreck. I am medically retired. My wife is here with me, so I am not alone. I got my dosage down from a high of approximately 450-500 mg a day to 30mg of Avinza a day. Oxycodone is for BT pain. I took my last Avinza at 10pm Sat, July 19.

question is how to get my doc to understand? I was told that i should be on Oxycontin with no acetaminophen stuff...help??? I know it wont take the pain away...I'm just looking to be able to "deal" with it...but I understand that I'm digesting way too much Tylenol stuff???

My daughter was told at her pain clinic that she could not build a tolerance to Avinza. My daughter has to be taken off of Avinza and put on something else for a while and go through terrible withdrawl, including restless leg syndrome, then she sees the nurse again and has to argue with her to get her to put her on Avinza again.

anyone have any problems with Avinza? (morphine sulfate extended release). My dr said that it had an antagonist that made it non addictive. He prescribed it to me alone with Norco (high dosage)- I stopped taking both, and it's been 6 weeks, but I'm still struggling.

Can you build up a tolerance to avinza? After taking avinza for several months, my daughter just didn't get any relief from it anymore. She quit taking it for a while and then started using it again and it's working. The pain clinic nurse practioner say's that you cannot build up a tolerance to it.

I need to know what a safe time would be between Oxycontin 10mg 4 times a day and Methadone 10 mg three times a day? My doctor wants me off the Oxycontin but I was afraid to change without a waiting period but I don't want to wait so long I can't walk. My best friend of 13 yrs just got prescribed avinza. Not sure of dose. He has been trying injection of pills. I think he is injecting avinza. Is that possible. What are signs or symtoms. He needs help.

Has anyone had any withdrawl problems with Avinza if they miss one day of medication??

I dont know if this is gonna help you, but let me give you a start on what I went thru hopefully briefly. Hydo, 5/500 7.5/500 10/500..then straight to duragisic patch when they realized it was real and the MRIs results came back and 6 or so months post op back surgery was in an MVA.I've been a pain patient for many yrs, but chronic pain treatment was just beginning. Skipping the PM quacks 3 of them really made life miserable, I had a different specialist handle my care.

This is problematic - he still has the original pain, deals with huge pain through out body, shower water is even too painful on account of detox over two months ago, and with one off and two days on sub, he is not very hopeful. A new doctor will use avinza to ease him off suboxone. Anyone have experience using avinza for this purpose? I am extremely wary, as he is odd in his responses to drugs. Persistent detox pain mystifies his doctor(s), except for one who expected it! Thanks very much.

Someone (a friend of mine) has asked me if it's safe to cold turkey... stop Avinza. They've been on it for a month. They want to quit. I know nothing about any of this at all (quiting or Avinza). I figured I'd ask here and then kick his behind to his HCP so he can get a straight answer. He's probably not "supposed" to be taking it and probably doesn't have an HCP to talk to. This is complicated stuff... trying to quit... man...

I've had pelvic pain for the past 4 yrs and been to 8 different drs. last dr at the clevelend clinic diagnosed me with pelvic floor disorder so i've been going to a pmd and been getting 120 mg avinza&750 norco.I'm tired feeling sluggish from theses meds!Pretty much ween myself off the norco the avinza pretty hard into my 3rd day of weening off the avinza!I'm going to get off it no matter how bad the pain gets!!!Feeling really depressed lately!!It will get better!!

I will see my pain manangement doc in 2 weeks. I ahve been on avinza 90mg for 2 years. Xodol for breakthrough pain for 2 years. My pain level is increasing and the xodol does nothing for my break through pain. Any ideas what options are available for me.

Hi there, I have tried many pain meds (chronic pain from brain surgery 3.5 year ago), Opana ER being one of them. I did NOT have a good experience: it chronically made me feel so slow and groggy, that I thought I as going to fall over. I think I fell asleep out of the blue often times. Like many pain meds there is always the lovely constipation issue, but that passes.

I have been on Avinza 10 mg in the a.m. and15 mgs oxycontin 4 x day for 1 year by a pain management Dr. I never had to increase...which it sounds like I'm lucky compaired to what I'm reading. I want off but tried cold turkey for 2 days and WOW.....I had every symptom and haven't slept in days. On day 2 I gave in because of the severe muscle cramps, crawlies and cold chills. I can stand everything but the jerky leg syndrome.

t just a way for the makers of oxycontin to have a new med patent to keep exclusive rights to for whatever the time length they get to keep the drug formula to themselves for? And is the ingredient that makes the pills tamper proof considered an" inactive ingredient" which to my understanding is somehow not importan . Personaly I never have been a fan of the whole Oxycontin craze.. I have never found it to be that effective for pain control.

Avinza is a 24 hour Morphine realease. Its like MS Contin except you only take it once a day. I cant use either (aside from the obvious reasons for addiction because they are addicting too), but they made me not be able to breathe!

I was prescribed. Suboxone to avoid WDs from Avinza. Avinza is a continuous release morphine pill that a pain clinic dr prescribed me for severe & chronic pain. I was on a very high dosage of Avinza and could not function. When I asked to get off of it they put me on suboxone. . I wasn't given an option. I've been on it now for approx 3 1/2 years. My 1st attempt to taper off suboxone was he11! I didn't sleep for a month, was in the worst pain ever.

Hi...I am 49 years old woman with rsd in both hands. Just wanted an opinion on the med's i'm on. 3200mg gabapentin...40mg nortriptylin..( these were both just raised) 60mg cymbalta 15 mg roxicodone..4xdaily as needed...75mg avinza once daily...is this alot of medication? My pain isn't under control at this point. About a month and a half ago my pain mgmt nurse pract had given my lorcet...that along with the 60mg. avinza , gabapentin, roxicodone cymbalta worked pretty well...
