I am hesitant to go all out on a stroller for a newborn as we are having winter babies and are probably not going to be using them much till they are 6 months, in which they would need a different more manageable stroller like the maclaren XT.

Before mine I bought a few bottles...socks...wipes...a box of newborn diapers...pacis....and a few onesies....and after I found out what she was I bought more...so it all depends on you....but don't buy much unless its a good sell...because you will get a lot during your shower.

^^ agree . You should start now . Get the big stuff first and outta the way , then work your way down to smaller stuff like bottles and clothes and such . I waited till the last min with my last pregnancy , not a good idea ! 31 weeks, FTM. This is my first baby. My husband and I are trying to prepare for her arrival by buying major items through consignment (crib, stroller, car seat, etc.). These are just items we probably will not get at the baby shower because they're expensive. I got scolded by my MIL, one of her friend's daughters (who I bet my MIL told), and some others. As for car seats, a car seat should be replace after a car accident, regardless of whether it looks damaged or not, and since you may never know if it was or not it is best just to buy new. Anything else, feel free to buy used. I have purchased bedding for my crib, clothes, etc. This way and have never had any problems. I am an avid ebayer, but haven't really gotten anything on craig's list.

I got just the car seat alone and a carrier (i recommend an ergo, moby) i didn't get a stroller because i feel i will never use it other than for walks around my neighborhood or when we go to the mall.

Ok so I'm a ftm 27 weeks. My hubby and i are looking at car seats but not sure what to go with since there are so many options! Do you ladies think the 3 in 1 (infant to toddler) that stays in the vehicle is better or one that is only good for newborns but has the handle and base so you can take your baby to and from the vehicle in the carrier? Or is there a good way to take baby in and out with a 3 in 1? ....
