Hello,I was diagnosed wit hepatitis c in 2011 and was placed on augmentin and livolin and adviced to stay off protein n fat..after treatment in 2011,I felt ok,but it re-occured this year again!..pls I need your advice!
My boyfriend was prescribed 1 gram of Augmentin twice daily for 3 weeks for acute bacterial prostatitis. He hasn't actually received his urine test results yet though, so not sure what type of bacteria it actually is. Is this an appropriate treatment?
I should add that I was prescribed Augmentin at the same time post operatively for a knee arthroscope and wondered whether this could interfere with the efficacy of the azithromycin?
I have a yellowish thick penile discharge and a slight burning with urination. Since I could not see a dcotr yet, I started taking augmentin 500 mg that I had at home, but read that I should take a unique does o 3 g. am I supposed to take 6 tablets of 500 mg or what? I would rather take one 500 mg tablet each 8 hours for a couple of days. Any advice?
On Monday I went doctor since I had some fever and sore throat, he said it was tonsillitis and prescribed me Augmentin 500g (amoxicillin/clavulanate potassium) and paracetamol. Okay now I don't have fever anymore and I don't feel the pain, it's getting better so I've stoped with paracetamol. But since yesterday I've started to have diarrhea. It's painless, I just notice some sounds in my stomach and a sudden need to go wc.
I was wondering if anyone else has taken Augmentin. I was prescribed it for a double ear infection. Originally I was given acetic acid drops but they aren't working.
I plan on calling my OB in the morning to double check. They are pregnancy category B. Although they are thought to be safe not many studies have been done on them. I'm nervous about everything. This is my first pregnancy and I am only 18.

Also, the infection has been treated with numerous antibiotics (amoxicillin, flagyl, omnicef, augmentin, clindamycin), and all seem to help at first, but only clindamycin has lasting effects. Not even augmentin worked. Any idea on what kind of bacteria would respond to clindamycin but not augmentin?
I recently took a 10 day course of augmentin for strep throat or tonsillitis (I took the prescription prior to testing to see which). Toward the end of the treatment, I started to experience some mild discomfort after urninating. Weeks later I am still experiencing that discomfort, in varying degrees. Usually if I am better hydrated it is milder. It is never terrible, just a mild burning or itching. The location is toward the tip of the penis, but inside.
But 10-15% are resistant. Augmentin is active against even the resistant strains. Augmentin has not been studied for its effect against pharyngeal gonorrhea, but in the doses used for strep throat and respiratory infections, it probably would cure it.
Asymptomatic urethral gonorrhea is uncommon in men, and testing is reliable. The asymptomatic person can be sure he doesn't have it.
There is no point in you being tested while taking augmentin.
I went to see my GP and he prescribed me. Cipro for 5 days....then Amoxicillan Augmentin for 10 days....and then finally Doxcylcline for 10 days. The symptoms have not gone away....and some days the symptoms are very mild and I feel it has gone away.....only to come back again. (1) Would the antibacterial treatments I received have cleared gonorrhea in the throat? (2) Will it clear on its own since from infection possible date to today have been almost 15 weeks.
A little over a week ago 9/11 I saw a Urologist who informed me that I had been prescribed the wrong antibiotic and prescribed me Augmentin which ended Sunday. I attempted to ejaculate late Sunday night to see just how normal things were and my semen was bloody but there was no pain. Is this normal? Did I move too fast? It may be Augmentin or it may be something else. I think you should mention this to your doctor.
t yet developed the infection, as would be indicated by the presence of a lesion or a positive blood test, than it takes for curative treatment. The augmentin taken twice daily for two weeks would certainly cure and prevent development of syphilis. The combination of cefixime and azithromycin would most probably prevent infection but it would not be curative if the infection was established.
4 days on augmentin 825 for a chronic dental infection (now a bone infection), I started having major swelling in my hands. This is new, I've never had swelling like this. Yesterday my one hand looked freakishly red and swollen. It was so swollen, that when I straightened out my hand (which was difficult), everything turned white, inbetween the redness.
Anyway, I tried going off the augmentin (I'm taking it in conjunction with clindamycin), and today I feel much less swollen.
dx with augmentin induced drug hepatitis 3 weeks ago. Stopped drug , had elevated liver enzymes, ALT 469 AST 205. jaundice, dark urine, pale fatty stools. Bili peaked at 16.9 last week, now coming down (8). Liver enzymes slowly coming down. Jaundice starting to fade. Ultra sound normal except local areas of fatty infiltrate.
My question... can toxic hepatitis CAUSE fatty liver in the acute phase?
it was back and this time it went straight to dry inflamed mode. Augmentin did not help. In fact from all the augmentin I got yeast and/or BV. I was given flagyl which worked for 2 weeks then it all came back with a vengeance. I didn't just have vaginal inflammation but ulcerated sores in my rectum as well. I'm still suffering from that as medications didn't make it completely go away.
In light of the treatment with Augmentin (the combo of Amox and Clav) and yet you still have enlarged axillary lymph nodes, further diagnostics need to be done. Has your CBC been repeated since the antibiotic was completed to see if numbers changed? In this country, Augmentin is given for 10 days for infections, and perhaps that's what you need to insure that the infection is entirely gone. Given that your axillary node is still enlarged, there is surely something going on...
