Augmentin diarrhea treatment

Common Questions and Answers about Augmentin diarrhea treatment

augmentin

Avatar n tn thank you for your answer Cjegger. I'ts been two days, I still have the same diarrhea and the treatment should be until monday (the day I'll see my doctor). I'm really afraid about this antibiotic, but I know it's important to take it for 8 days. Do you think it's dangerous to keep with augmentin or should I stop it? It's already 4 days now with this really liquid diahrrea. thanks!
250701 tn?1320974765 My kids always got diarrhea on augmentin. I hope your tummy is doing well. Did he test your sputum for a bacterial infection? I wouldn't take an antibiotic called in without being sure I had one. Feel better.
Avatar f tn Now 2 days in I have diarrhea. Should I discontinue the augmentin? If not, what is the best way to treatthe diarrhea?
Avatar m tn In light of the treatment with Augmentin (the combo of Amox and Clav) and yet you still have enlarged axillary lymph nodes, further diagnostics need to be done. Has your CBC been repeated since the antibiotic was completed to see if numbers changed? In this country, Augmentin is given for 10 days for infections, and perhaps that's what you need to insure that the infection is entirely gone. Given that your axillary node is still enlarged, there is surely something going on...
Avatar f tn However, last week of Februaru I developed white spots at the back of my throat. My doctor said it was strep and gave me Augmentin which reduced the appearance somewhat but not completely. I got the covid vaccine astrazeneca, got a fever and the white spots increased once again (even worse). My doctor gave me Augmentin again for a week along with flucanazole. I’m at the end of the course of treatment. The white spots have decreased but some are still there.
Avatar f tn 4 days on augmentin 825 for a chronic dental infection (now a bone infection), I started having major swelling in my hands. This is new, I've never had swelling like this. Yesterday my one hand looked freakishly red and swollen. It was so swollen, that when I straightened out my hand (which was difficult), everything turned white, inbetween the redness. Anyway, I tried going off the augmentin (I'm taking it in conjunction with clindamycin), and today I feel much less swollen.
Avatar m tn Don`t go too far from your toilet. That much Augmentin can cause a rip roaring case of diarrhea..another good reason not to self treat.

Avatar n tn 11 weeks ago I was diagnosed with a kidney infection and took a week of Levaquin, then Ceftriaxine IV, then three weeks of Augmentin. I was fine while on the medicine, but two days after I went off I started having diarrhea and/or loose/soft stools. This has lasted for 8 weeks now and so far I've not gotten any answers from the doc. They've put me on probiotics, which I've taken faithfully, to no avail. I went on a bland diet, that didn't help either.
Avatar n tn I have recently battled a sinus infection following a head cold. Treatment w/Augmentin helped the symptoms of the SI, but simultaneously I developed a very stiff neck pain. Augmentin always makes me feel "strange". Coincidence or related . Maybe others have experienced same?
Avatar f tn Hello,I was diagnosed wit hepatitis c in 2011 and was placed on augmentin and livolin and adviced to stay off protein n fat..after treatment in 2011,I felt ok,but it re-occured this year again!..pls I need your advice!
Avatar n tn My boyfriend was prescribed 1 gram of Augmentin twice daily for 3 weeks for acute bacterial prostatitis. He hasn't actually received his urine test results yet though, so not sure what type of bacteria it actually is. Is this an appropriate treatment?
Avatar f tn I have a perianal ulcer at 6 o'clock. It's almost 1×1cm, pinkish in color and painful to touch. It came two weeks ago. I am a 23 yo male. I went to see my GP who asked me to see a surgeon because he thought it was an anal fissure. The surgeon prescribed me Augmentin 625mg twice a day for 5 days. And lidocaine+fucidin cream (fusidic acid) to apply on the rectum and the ulcer. I have been doing that but the ulcer doesn't seem to heal.
Avatar m tn I should add that I was prescribed Augmentin at the same time post operatively for a knee arthroscope and wondered whether this could interfere with the efficacy of the azithromycin?
Avatar n tn I started taking augmentum about 6 days ago, and I am getting both diarrhea and sharp muscle and joint pains. The reason I am taking antibiotic is because I was feeling dizzy and was getting headaches (but I never had a fever or any of the other HIV symptoms yet). Basically the two most prevalent symptoms are the diarrhea and the muscle/Joint pains I am having. It has been 2 days now that I am off of the antibiotic and I am still getting the muscle/joint pain.
Avatar n tn I have a yellowish thick penile discharge and a slight burning with urination. Since I could not see a dcotr yet, I started taking augmentin 500 mg that I had at home, but read that I should take a unique does o 3 g. am I supposed to take 6 tablets of 500 mg or what? I would rather take one 500 mg tablet each 8 hours for a couple of days. Any advice?
Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone else has taken Augmentin. I was prescribed it for a double ear infection. Originally I was given acetic acid drops but they aren't working. I plan on calling my OB in the morning to double check. They are pregnancy category B. Although they are thought to be safe not many studies have been done on them. I'm nervous about everything. This is my first pregnancy and I am only 18. Thank you!!
Avatar f tn Also, the infection has been treated with numerous antibiotics (amoxicillin, flagyl, omnicef, augmentin, clindamycin), and all seem to help at first, but only clindamycin has lasting effects. Not even augmentin worked. Any idea on what kind of bacteria would respond to clindamycin but not augmentin?
Avatar f tn I recently took a 10 day course of augmentin for strep throat or tonsillitis (I took the prescription prior to testing to see which). Toward the end of the treatment, I started to experience some mild discomfort after urninating. Weeks later I am still experiencing that discomfort, in varying degrees. Usually if I am better hydrated it is milder. It is never terrible, just a mild burning or itching. The location is toward the tip of the penis, but inside.
237053 tn?1258828426 She has put me on a two week course of Augmentin. I was curious that if I did have Lyme would this antibiotic help? Also, does everyone Herx when they start treatment on antibiotics? I'm not even sure if this type of antibiotic would even have an effect on Lyme (if that is what I have). Just curious.
Avatar m tn Interesting since Nexium is for acid reflux not diarrhea. I wonder if you have irritable bowel disease? That is way too much diarrhea for that. Something is missing. I have to ask and don't get too worried. Since you were tested for STD's were you tested for HIV? If so were you negative? That is why I asked about testing for cryptosporidium because it can cause bad diarrhea like that. Just asking. If you were negative then you should move on to see a GI doc.
Avatar f tn But still, prolonged use of Augmentin may lead to expected side effects like general diarrhea, vomiting, rash, tingling, during or after treatment with Augmentin. The symptoms you stated may be referred to a condition known as Antibiotic assciated diarrhea or Psedumembranous colitis, proliferation of C.difficale caused by imbalance of useful colonic bacteria.Symptoms are feeling sick, diarrhea, abdominal pain, fever, fatigue.
Avatar n tn But 10-15% are resistant. Augmentin is active against even the resistant strains. Augmentin has not been studied for its effect against pharyngeal gonorrhea, but in the doses used for strep throat and respiratory infections, it probably would cure it. Asymptomatic urethral gonorrhea is uncommon in men, and testing is reliable. The asymptomatic person can be sure he doesn't have it. There is no point in you being tested while taking augmentin.
