Common Questions and Answers about Augmentin tm

augmentin

Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone else has taken Augmentin. I was prescribed it for a double ear infection. Originally I was given acetic acid drops but they aren't working. I plan on calling my OB in the morning to double check. They are pregnancy category B. Although they are thought to be safe not many studies have been done on them. I'm nervous about everything. This is my first pregnancy and I am only 18. Thank you!!
250701 tn?1320974765 My lung Doctor called me in some augmentin because I have been coughing up thick yellow mucus. I just don't know if I can take it on treatment. Does anyone know??
Avatar n tn //www.medhelp.org/drugs/Augmentin/show/5288 It may be Augmentin or it may be something else. I think you should mention this to your doctor.
Avatar f tn 4 days on augmentin 825 for a chronic dental infection (now a bone infection), I started having major swelling in my hands. This is new, I've never had swelling like this. Yesterday my one hand looked freakishly red and swollen. It was so swollen, that when I straightened out my hand (which was difficult), everything turned white, inbetween the redness. Anyway, I tried going off the augmentin (I'm taking it in conjunction with clindamycin), and today I feel much less swollen.
Avatar f tn I think if they find spinal cord lesions only and none in the brain you are thought to have TM. Usually with TM they find a clear sensory line on examination (i have this), also they find your reflexes to be indicative on a spinal lesion or inflammation (I have this) but I think to the lesions can be a different shape. Many people on this website have been diagnosed with TM and then later developed MS.
Avatar f tn TM can be triggered by many diseases including viruses, bacterial infection, MS, lupus or the cause may be unknown and called ideopathic TM. However, people who develop a single attack of TM have a greater chance of developing MS, somewhere between 15-80%. DId your neurologist do MRI's of your head and spinal cord to see if MS type lesions where present? Did he order a lumbar puncture to analyze your CSF to rule out/in infection as the possible cause of your TM?
Avatar n tn m curious to see how much of a link you believe there is between TM and MS? I was recently diagnosed TM but all my tests came back negative for MS (i.e. no bands, no brain lesions, normal ranges on VEP, normal field of vision tests, and normal on the newer vision MS test). Just curious what your thoughts are on the link and maybe what your tests were initially for when you were diagnosed TM vs. MS. Thanks!
Avatar n tn Hi, when I was 37 and 6 weeks pregnant, I got what was finally diagnosed as TM. I had never had any neurological symptoms before (nor no underlying conditions, wasn't sick or anything) and was told it was probably the first onset of MS. They didn't MRI me or give me any treatment because of the pregnancy. My TM was what they call a mild case--didn't seem mild to me! (extensive numbness torso/legs/feet and strange sensations esp.
Avatar f tn Thanks JJ. I'm one of the " lucky " ones, my TM led me to a quick MS diagnosis. My TM attack put me in the hospital on 1/9/15 and I'm not healing as fast as I hoped. I found out today that it might be because last week's repeat MRI shows that instead of getting better my lesion has gotten bigger. So now we are looking at a five day IV course of steroids that luckily I can do from home this time instead of having to go in the hospital.
462771 tn?1358355843 Hi Jason, I have been told by my neuro no 2 that in his opinion I have TM. I thought too that I had separate attacks and he believed that this was just flares from a single episode 13 years ago. You still get flares when you get tired, stressed etc. just like you do in MS. Neuro 1 told me he thought I proberly had MS but MRI was clear. I was also confused and still thought it was most likely from MS not TM.
Avatar n tn t believe it has something to do with Augmentin but I definitely do! Now my both knees are tingling. I took Augmentin before but I had no problem with it! Now I am out of work and need to see an ortho md and blood works for rheumatoid arthritis , lymes disease, etc.
Avatar f tn Hi I was told I had TM, I had a lesion on C2. I had tinglinging in both feet, legs in my pelvis, a tight band sensation across and around my chest, numbness in arms and fingers were tinglinging, both sides of feet, legs, and arms at the same time. I thought I had a pinched nerve because I play in a womans soocer league and got hit in the back of the neck with a direct kick with the ball.
Avatar f tn Hi and welcome, I don't know a lot about TM spinal cord lesions to say if it's normal for TM lesions to disappear or not, i've heard of other TM patients where it's happened and their new neurologist disbelieves they ever had TM until they see their MRI evidence, and I have read a couple of medical papers documenting this too, which suggests to me that it happens but it's not common for spinal cord lesions to completely disappear.
Avatar f tn OK - This is long winded, and my questions are at the bottom if you want to skip over the history part. There just is not a lot of information on TM with underlying MS and what happens years after recovery from TM. In October 2005 I had a major MS exacerbation which resulted in me being diagnosed with MS 6 months later. Apparently I have had MS for 18 years, I had optic neuritis in 1990, and my MS symptoms were very mild up until the exacerbation.
Avatar m tn anyone else have side effects AFTER STOPPING augmentin after the full 10 day dose? I have been off for two days and have awful sweating and hot flashes. I am male, and in relatively good shape. bp has been in the 140/70 range for three days. odd stuff. Ive usually had plain ole amoxicillin, but this stuff takes the cake.
Avatar f tn Hi, Iam 12wks pregnant. I was given augmentin sr tablets to treat a sinus infection. The doc said it's safe but I am scared to take it.
Avatar n tn I got the augmentin 400-57 suspension on Saturday afternoon. It is now Tuesday evening. It has been at room temp this entire time. How critical is refrigeration?
Avatar n tn You should see a a neurologist who specializes in TM if at all possible or MS. TM is in autoimmune illness and there is no cure. My husband has a lot of complications from TM. We are very blessed he is not wheel chair bound as most TM patients are. He is handicapped with many limitations and this will be with him the rest of his life. Only one third have a complete recovery and if none is seen after 18 months to 2 years, you will not change much at all.
Avatar f tn Hi and welcome to this medhelp forum, I hope I can help you with your questions on Transverse Myelitis, Binx67 gave me such a lovely introduction, not sure if I can live up to it, but if you have any specific questions on TM feel free to msg me or send a note or ask on this forum. Transverse Myelitis is actually quite rare, Transverse means across one entire segment or section of the spinal cord and myelitis is just a word for inflammation of the spinal cord.
Avatar n tn 1) although not preferred, will the Augmentin regimen clear me of anything? 2) how soon could I be accurately tested for STD's?
Avatar m tn so I took my STD test but before I got the result I panicked thinking of gonorrhea or syphilis and took Augmentin for 3 days. Now the tests are all negative but considering the window period for some STD, should I finish taking Augmentin as a precaution to get rid of the possible infection? Thank you.
