2 yrs ago got an acute kidney infection ( high fever, blood in pee, the works) which was treated with augmentin. since then, I keep getting less acute infections and they come back every 3 months. Low fever, very tired, abdominal swelling (a lot), back pain, urine strips show white blood cells and protein and occasionally nitrates. I had a hysterectomy 4 weeks ago (large broad lig fibroid) and I hoped that might make a difference.
4 days on augmentin 825 for a chronic dental infection (now a bone infection), I started having major swelling in my hands. This is new, I've never had swelling like this. Yesterday my one hand looked freakishly red and swollen. It was so swollen, that when I straightened out my hand (which was difficult), everything turned white, inbetween the redness.
Anyway, I tried going off the augmentin (I'm taking it in conjunction with clindamycin), and today I feel much less swollen.
(stomach pain, discharge, pain with sex, vaginal burning etc) Augmentin was the only antibiotic that seemed to work while i was on it but it immediately came back when off it. Being treated with metronidazole should have cleared a BV or Trichomonas infection but it didnt work..
The reason i posted here is i was thinking it must be gonnorhea or clamydia (despite negative testing) - basically the only thing i havent been treated for? But i have been tested 3 times now..
I am making an appointment today with an Internist and I also have another Urinalysis on tomorrow morning to see if there is still blood. I had thought it may be a kidney stone also but the pain in my lower back is achy, almost like cramps, and is very minimal and is not present at all times. I have spoke to people with kidney stones and they said it was excruciating.
Also, I have had the same partner for 3 years. We are both faithful without a doubt.
I was wondering if anyone else has taken Augmentin. I was prescribed it for a double ear infection. Originally I was given acetic acid drops but they aren't working.
I plan on calling my OB in the morning to double check. They are pregnancy category B. Although they are thought to be safe not many studies have been done on them. I'm nervous about everything. This is my first pregnancy and I am only 18.

The pain is becoming unbearable now when i urinate which is about 20+ times a day and 2-3 times during the night,after taking a course of Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanic acid) for 7 days the problem persists and have had to make another appointment to see my doctor this coming Monday,I was told i had a kidney infection after doing a urine sample and that the pills should clear it up,but they didnt work for me.
symptoms subsided. the morning after i took my last augmentin, i woke up with severe pain/cramping in my bladder and needed to urinate about every 20 min. got a home uti test, it was negative. went to cvs's minute clinic and they did urinalysis, and it was positive for bacteria, was given 7 days of bactrim. on day 4 of bactrim my symptoms (pain, urgency) had gotten worse, so i went to my GP and he repeated urinalysis, along with pregnancy test. both were negative.
I had a urinalysis last week. My internist called me and asked if I had any pain or burning. I do not. She said I prob have UTI and started me on Augmentin for 10 days. I received the results at home from lab and am concerned about results. WBC Esterace 3+, WBC>30,RBC 11-30, Epithelial Cells {NON RENAL] >10 ,Bacteria few. The culture came up 50000-100000 Group B strep. My dr acted like this is no big deal when I called her to discuss results. Should I just calm down?
m a male, possibly exposed from receiving unprotected oral a few days before a serious upper respiratory infection. Mostly worried due to ache/pain on tip of penis. Am currently on Augmentin 875mg/125mg (Amoxicillin Clavulanate) twice a day for 10 days.
Questions:
1) although not preferred, will the Augmentin regimen clear me of anything?
2) how soon could I be accurately tested for STD's?
Hello I have severe pain under my crown, my gums are swollen around the crown and are also sore, the most extreme pain I've ever had with a tooth. I had some augmentin on hand which I started taking today, can't see dentist until tues. Does anyone know what this is? Please help. Started yesterday, so today is my second day with this pain. Also have slight swelling in my cheek.
Becaause of my history of bowel abcess and the fact the symptoms became more constant I was prescribed Augmentin. Now 2 days in I have diarrhea. Should I discontinue the augmentin? If not, what is the best way to treatthe diarrhea?
For the last 2 years I have complained to both my FPs (changed my physician last year) of right leg and abdomen pain and lower back pain on right side. My docs always brushed it away and prescribed more exercise, sitting position changes as I used to drive a lot.

You should consult your doctor about getting other investigations done including a kidney and liver function test.
Are you having any other symptoms like yellow skin or yellow urine, loss of appetite, nausea, etc?
If the symptoms are still persistent, consult a gastroenterologist and get a proper clinical evaluation done.

If you took augmentin, and it cleared up for you, it was a UTI and not an STI.
You bought her clotrimazole? That's medication for a yeast infection, which can happen for lots of reasons, and is also not an STI.
Your wife is pregnant, though, and I understand why you are worried. After you've been off the augmentin for 3 weeks, test for all STIs to be able to put this behind you.
For 2 months now, I have had earaches, pain in upper teeth, pain in the jaw,pain in temple, pain along bridge of nose, pain under eye and above brow. I've had a full doseof augmentin and had exrays on upper teeth. I'm living on aleve or ibuprofen. Please help me.
I have recently gone to my dr. because of redness, swelling and pain in my left breast. He said that he believed it was mastitis but sent me for a mammogram and sonogram which both came back fine. However, I have now developed a pain and what feels like a lump under my arm and these pus filled pimple like things on the red and swollen area of my breast. should I be worried about this. I also had blood work done four days before the original symptoms appeared that came back fine.
First off I'll start with her history. She was hositalized with pyelonephritis 2-05 in both kidneys, I believe the right was worse as far as CT shown. Then she saw nephorologist a couple of times and had kidney ultrasound because he said it wasn't very common for a 13 yr old to have actual pyelo.
Now she is 16 and for the past few months she has had a kidney\bladder infection of some sort every month. She has complained of back pain almost daily for several years.
It was a burning/tense pain. I went to the doctor and he gave me augmentin and it cleared up for the whole summer but returned the following september of 2015. I decided to leave it and see what happened as i'd had a testicular exam and my doctor couldn't see anything worrying. About 4 months later i went back to the doc and he gave me another course of augmentin, this time not clearing anything.
He then referred me to a urologist.
After two days of treatment, I developed side effects to the Cipro (muscle and joint pain). I was taken off the Cipro and was put on Augmentin (twice a day) for 21 days, which I began taking today. My urologist advised me that if the Augmentin does not work, then there is not a whole lot he can do to improve my condition given that there are no other antibiotics that could be helpful. I just got a PSA done, and I am awaiting the results.
