He was put on Augmentin again and also started having redness and infection in his left eye. With Cipro drops the eye seemed to be doing better, but again there was this feeling of something in his left eye. The opthalmologist ruled out eye glasses or any infection in the eyes and put him on Vigamox and his eye seems to being better. During the 2nd round of Augmentin, complaints of headache and tummyache continued, this time his neck also started hurting and also throat.
If I were your treating dentist, I would look for other potential source of infection. In the mean time, if augmentin and clindamycin are not effective, I would try erythromycin family drug, such as azithromycin or clarithromycin , paired with metronidazole(flagyl). If itis possible, antibiotic sensitivity test can be done in the lab to determine which antibiotic is most effective for the cultured bacteria. Hope this helps.
My Dr has treated me with Metronidazole- brand name used was flagyl Nylstatin for yeast, clamycin,spandnox (for yeast), and recently had some relief with Augmentin(which was prescribed for a chest infection). When i was on augmentin all the above symptoms went away however came back 1 or 2 days after i came off the anti biotic.
I was wondering if anyone else has taken Augmentin. I was prescribed it for a double ear infection. Originally I was given acetic acid drops but they aren't working.
I plan on calling my OB in the morning to double check. They are pregnancy category B. Although they are thought to be safe not many studies have been done on them. I'm nervous about everything. This is my first pregnancy and I am only 18.

I was prescribed augmentin for a sinus infection and I had no side effects while taking it. I finished it 4 days ago. Starting yesterday afternoon I had clay colored stool. I thought it would pass, but it hasn't. I have very slight stomach cramps. Is this normal and my body is just recovering from the antibiotic or should I be concerned?
t yet developed the infection, as would be indicated by the presence of a lesion or a positive blood test, than it takes for curative treatment. The augmentin taken twice daily for two weeks would certainly cure and prevent development of syphilis. The combination of cefixime and azithromycin would most probably prevent infection but it would not be curative if the infection was established.
4 days on augmentin 825 for a chronic dental infection (now a bone infection), I started having major swelling in my hands. This is new, I've never had swelling like this. Yesterday my one hand looked freakishly red and swollen. It was so swollen, that when I straightened out my hand (which was difficult), everything turned white, inbetween the redness.
Anyway, I tried going off the augmentin (I'm taking it in conjunction with clindamycin), and today I feel much less swollen.

This was my second pregnancy. I have since developed a bacterial infection vaginally. My doc prescribed Metronidazole for that, and two days later I had a horrible fever and chills all night long (which I thought was a side effect of the Metronidazole) and my right breast was horribly red and really sore! I also had a cramp in the right side ovary. I went back to the doc, for the ovary pain (thinking the breast thing would resolve itself I stupidly didn't mention it to him).
so I took my STD test but before I got the result I panicked thinking of gonorrhea or syphilis and took Augmentin for 3 days. Now the tests are all negative but considering the window period for some STD, should I finish taking Augmentin as a precaution to get rid of the possible infection? Thank you.
Your suspicions are correct with the Augmentin. If you have a viral infection, it will do nothing for it. Here's the problem. If you have a viral tonsillitis, it will get better on its own in time (about the same time that was quoted for the Augmentin!). But you are also taking Augmentin. So, won't it be tempting to say that the Augmentin is what made you better? We'll never know.
I live in an are of NJ in which Lyme Disease is not uncommon. I removed an intact tick from my left shoulder blade area about 8 months ago. I didn't develop a "bulls-eye" rash but in the center - where the tick had actually been attached - there was a very dark red-brown surrounded by a thin whitish line and then a large red area around that. Hi all..i have this gum infection n im 18 weeks pregnant.the dentist injected local anaesthesia to my gum to do some debridement of the pus due to the infection.and i was prescribed with augmentin antibiotic and panadol. I got it from a girl who unknowingly had a yeast infection while I was on an antibiotic known as Augmentin for a foot injury (which apparently made me vulnerable to contracting a yeast infection). He put me on dyflucan and over the counter topical cream. The dyflucan was supposed to also re stabilize my stomach bacteria because I was having horrible stomach cramps possibly due to the augmentin and the yeast infection apparently.
1) although not preferred, will the Augmentin regimen clear me of anything?
