Antibiotic is fine during pregnancy

I was wondering if anyone else has taken Augmentin. I was prescribed it for a double ear infection. Originally I was given acetic acid drops but they aren't working. I plan on calling my OB in the morning to double check. They are pregnancy category B. Although they are thought to be safe not many studies have been done on them. I'm nervous about everything. This is my first pregnancy and I am only 18. Thank you!!

i'm a doctor pregnant in 17weeks when i had strong common cold my doctor told me to take augmentin (antibiotic) 1 gm tablets every 12 hours it's completly safe in pregnancy..

1) although not preferred, will the Augmentin regimen clear me of anything? 2) how soon could I be accurately tested for STD's?

Many anti-biotics are safe to use during pregnancy. Just make sure your doctor knows you are pregnant and will keep that in mind when prescribing which anti-biotic you'll use. Take care.

and i was prescribed with augmentin antibiotic and panadol. Can i ask if any of u who have went through pregnancy and have to take so much medications..especialy the local anaesthesia.

My 12month old daughter has vomited in the middle of the night for the past 6 nights. She has been sick- first a cold then an ear infection and was on augmentin, but her last dose was yesterday. The doctor prescribed her augmentin 250 mg as she said there is an infection following her bleeding. during her 2 days of medication there are an onset of abdominal pain, cramps and bleeding. Again, she pass out a small solid tissue kinda branch of intestine and we brought it back to emergency ob for further investigation. Unfortunately, she miscarriage and pass out the sac. Call your Dr but do not discontinue your antibiotics until you speak with them. Most antibiotics are safe to take during pregnancy and its important that you clear up whatever infection you had.

it was back and this time it went straight to dry inflamed mode. Augmentin did not help. In fact from all the augmentin I got yeast and/or BV. I was given flagyl which worked for 2 weeks then it all came back with a vengeance. I didn't just have vaginal inflammation but ulcerated sores in my rectum as well. I'm still suffering from that as medications didn't make it completely go away.

anyone else have side effects AFTER STOPPING augmentin after the full 10 day dose? I have been off for two days and have awful sweating and hot flashes. I am male, and in relatively good shape. bp has been in the 140/70 range for three days. odd stuff. Ive usually had plain ole amoxicillin, but this stuff takes the cake.
