augmentin and methotrexate

Hi im 44yrs old and have been diagnosed with GM about 5 months ago i was started on augmentin 6.25mg 3 times a day then told to stop taking them,then i was started on metronizodole 400mg and augmentin 3.75mg the doses have been altered again.The condition is getting worse im told surgery is not the answer but if i can find the answer then my surgeon will be happy to treat.? Can anyone help shed some light on this condition and what the possible result is.?

so I took my STD test but before I got the result I panicked thinking of gonorrhea or syphilis and took Augmentin for 3 days. Now the tests are all negative but considering the window period for some STD, should I finish taking Augmentin as a precaution to get rid of the possible infection? Thank you.

I have been taking prednisolone on off for years for sinusitis/allergies and have read some people have started taking methotrexate for Rheumatoid Arthritis. Does anyone know if this would also work for chronic sinusitis conditions?

Because I had been previously diagnosed (and treated with 1000mg Amoxicillin three times daily) with a sinus and left ear infection about a month earlier he suspected that I could possibly have some type of resistant sinusitus and prescribed Augmentin XR (1000 mg) 2 pills twice a day. I had oral sex again with the asymptomatic guy again on 4/11. I was informed by the guy who developed gonorrhea of all this today, 4/14, and have not had sex with him since before his symptoms began.

I was wondering if anyone else has taken Augmentin. I was prescribed it for a double ear infection. Originally I was given acetic acid drops but they aren't working. I plan on calling my OB in the morning to double check. They are pregnancy category B. Although they are thought to be safe not many studies have been done on them. I'm nervous about everything. This is my first pregnancy and I am only 18. Thank you!!

My lung Doctor called me in some augmentin because I have been coughing up thick yellow mucus. I just don't know if I can take it on treatment. Does anyone know??

ive recently been on flucloxicillin and penecillin very high doses and i know this can affect mtx strengths. i have been tired and achy and nauseas for weeks now. ive done two hpts and both have been negative. should i see my gp?

It is highly likely that Augmentin in the dose and duration I just recommended would abort incubating gonorrhea -- which almost certainly you didn't catch anyway. You can safely take the drug then continue unprotected sex with your wife. The problem here isn't just STD; you apparently are reacting emotionally to the sexual event, perhaps conflicted about your own sexual orientation or preferences. But this isn't a counseling service, so that will be all for this thread.

was aware I had the seizure problem and prescribed cipro, which I had to call and tell them to send me something different. The one at the pharmacy now is Augmentin. Just need a neurologist`s expert opinion as to whether or not it is alright to take Augmentin with my myoclonic seizure condition. Do not want to start up any seizures. However, this UTI is hurting so badly!!! If It is too risky then I can`t take it!!!! Please help me.

Augmentin will affect your pill. The other one I do not know about. It probably takes a couple of days for the antiboitics to get out of your system. You might wanna use a second form of protection just in case.

The prednisone step doown depends on how long u have been on it typically the longer your on it the slower the step down as well as strenght so a doc is nest to ask but it could be fine since it was such a short time. As for methotrexate I found 2 articles on it and GM and it sounded promising and my breast doctor agreed and sent me to a rheumatologist to monitor the drugs and my docs communicate about my progress and work together.

My primary care physician and rheumatologist advised me to stop the methotrexate immediately. Methotrexate injures the liver, and that is why it is dosed once a week instead of daily. This gives your liver time to heal in between doses. Methotrexate was very effective for my RA symptoms and I hated to give it up, but I wasn't willing to destroy my liver in order to get relief from joint pain.

Can the Methotrexate alter my thyroid levels? I am off Methrotrexate now and only taking 5 mg of Predisone and 175 synthroid?

He thought I had a secondary infection in the uterus and gave me Augmentin to take along with the other I am taking. It has been 36 hours and my breast is still really red and sore. I don't know what to do! I am worried that it may lead to sepsis?? Or should I not be worried since I am taking augmentin? It is the weekend, so I can't call my doc again. So sorry to hear you are in the same boat as me. I have very similar pain and I have a positive ANA one time and negative the next time and the same on the RF. It sounds like, as in my case, it is RA or Lupus. For me it is gearing more to Lupus since my pain is mostly in my muscles and connective tissue, not my joints. I'm rather surprised he would start you on methotrexate without a diagnosis. How long have you had these issues? How long have you been on your meds?

The methotrexate injection is a significantly less risky and less costly therapy, and I would have done the same thing. It won't deplete your entire folic acid stores--the dose used for treating ectopic is pretty low. And methotrexate works preferentially on rapidly growing tissue, not on stable tissues. I hope your therapy works--in your case there is a very good chance that it will.

We had an ultra sound and it showed fluid in my left tube. I received Methotrexate to abort the pregnancy on Sept 6 and I have continued taking metformin. My doctor has requested we wait three months to TTC again. We are so ready to try again! My question is has anyone else been through this? If so how long did you wait to TTC and how successful were you?

Not sure that in USA methotrexate is mandated with rituximab for RA, and the studies she spoke of to us were US-FDA trials. So there may actually be another reason, but as no further funds went into the US Rituxan trials, perhaps we will never really know the total reason? Sounds like following it up might give valuable clues.
