After two days of treatment, I developed side effects to the Cipro (muscle and joint pain). I was taken off the Cipro and was put on Augmentin (twice a day) for 21 days, which I began taking today. My urologist advised me that if the Augmentin does not work, then there is not a whole lot he can do to improve my condition given that there are no other antibiotics that could be helpful. I just got a PSA done, and I am awaiting the results.

Just need a neurologist`s expert opinion as to whether or not it is alright to take Augmentin with my myoclonic seizure condition. Do not want to start up any seizures. However, this UTI is hurting so badly!!! If It is too risky then I can`t take it!!!! Please help me.
December 16, 2016, diagnosed with UTI was placed on the antibiotic Bactrim, symptoms did not go away went to the walk in clinic they repeated the urine and it showed UTI. Placed me on Cipro symptoms were not any better,culture from walk in showed contamination so they wanted to repeat the specimen. Went to the clinic and gave a repeat specimen, it showed Entercoccus was placed on Augmentin. From research I have found that the only thing that works on Entercoccus bacteria is vancomycin.

I went to see my GP and he prescribed me. Cipro for 5 days....then Amoxicillan Augmentin for 10 days....and then finally Doxcylcline for 10 days. The symptoms have not gone away....and some days the symptoms are very mild and I feel it has gone away.....only to come back again. (1) Would the antibacterial treatments I received have cleared gonorrhea in the throat? (2) Will it clear on its own since from infection possible date to today have been almost 15 weeks.
anyone else have side effects AFTER STOPPING augmentin after the full 10 day dose? I have been off for two days and have awful sweating and hot flashes. I am male, and in relatively good shape. bp has been in the 140/70 range for three days. odd stuff. Ive usually had plain ole amoxicillin, but this stuff takes the cake.
Hi, Im 48 and until recently very healthy (professional choreographer). 2 yrs ago got an acute kidney infection ( high fever, blood in pee, the works) which was treated with augmentin. since then, I keep getting less acute infections and they come back every 3 months. Low fever, very tired, abdominal swelling (a lot), back pain, urine strips show white blood cells and protein and occasionally nitrates.
and gave me 3 days of Cipro. Cipro did the trick but I ended up feeling not quite over it and called my doctor.. Who made me go for another urine test (which came back normal) but did put me on 7 Days of Augementin @ 875MG. I've felt great but towards the end of the augmentin I did get a wierd uncomfortable feeling towards the end of the medicine. Since coming off I feel great but just a little sore in my gential area and my low back feels very very sore.
I was prescribed doxycycline and cipro and it seemed as if the swelling was going down and the pain was easing. After a few weeks, I ended up back at the ER 8/25 from pain and learned that the epidiymitis was caused by an UTI that must've occured after surgery. The doctor prescribed me doxycycline again. Things seemed to normalize but after I decided to seek other counsel.
Was presc Cipro for 11 days - 500mg twice daily. During cipro treatment i had an STD test done - swab, bloods and urine sample, all negative. I also waited approx 3 weeks after finishing cipro to be retested and again negative results. Long term partner also tested and negative as i was terried i has passed something to her
Questions are -
1) Can i rely on the 2nd set of results. I did do at the time and had unprot sex with my long term partner after these results.
Hi! I recently had a root canal and was prescribed clindamycin too....I too have allergies to other antibiotics. The clindomycin did NOTHING and the infection got worse so now I am on CIPRO which was my own idea. I don't know if it is working 100% yet, but at least the infection has died down and I can tell it is helping......
However, last week of Februaru I developed white spots at the back of my throat. My doctor said it was strep and gave me Augmentin which reduced the appearance somewhat but not completely. I got the covid vaccine astrazeneca, got a fever and the white spots increased once again (even worse). My doctor gave me Augmentin again for a week along with flucanazole. I’m at the end of the course of treatment. The white spots have decreased but some are still there.
However, at these times if someone else were to touch me they would say I felt really cold. I felt like my calves were “buzzing” and my knees were shaky. I finished the Augmentin. About two weeks after having these symptoms I felt flu-like. I had headaches, very fatigued, still had the low grade fever, muscle buzzing/vibrating (mainly in my legs but sometimes in other places-not in face or eyes).
It was a burning/tense pain. I went to the doctor and he gave me augmentin and it cleared up for the whole summer but returned the following september of 2015. I decided to leave it and see what happened as i'd had a testicular exam and my doctor couldn't see anything worrying. About 4 months later i went back to the doc and he gave me another course of augmentin, this time not clearing anything.
He then referred me to a urologist.
about 3 weeks ago i experienced vaginal burning/itching, went to gyno, swabbed for multiple stds, bacteria, and yeast. all came back negative, but he put me on 7 days of augmentin anyway. symptoms subsided. the morning after i took my last augmentin, i woke up with severe pain/cramping in my bladder and needed to urinate about every 20 min. got a home uti test, it was negative.
During the 2nd round of Augmentin, complaints of headache and tummyache continued, this time his neck also started hurting and also throat. He was diagnosed with strep throat and put on Cephalexin and the doctor said "wait a week or two for the headaches to subside". By this time it has been 6+ weeks with the headache and we got fed up and took him to another doc. who ordered an MRI.
On Friday the cultures came back as well and they put her on Vanco and Cipro. She had been on Clindamycin since admission. According to the CT her parotid and submandibular glands as well as the masserteric muscle were surrounded by the infection. Early yesterday they went back in and drained everything out. Her swelling was minimal last night. Today, it’s much worse. Kinda like when we first went in. Her wbc and neutrophils are also more elevated today than than it’s been all along.
so I took my STD test but before I got the result I panicked thinking of gonorrhea or syphilis and took Augmentin for 3 days. Now the tests are all negative but considering the window period for some STD, should I finish taking Augmentin as a precaution to get rid of the possible infection? Thank you.
