Augmentin and cellulitis

Common Questions and Answers about Augmentin and cellulitis

augmentin

Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone else has taken Augmentin. I was prescribed it for a double ear infection. Originally I was given acetic acid drops but they aren't working. I plan on calling my OB in the morning to double check. They are pregnancy category B. Although they are thought to be safe not many studies have been done on them. I'm nervous about everything. This is my first pregnancy and I am only 18. Thank you!!
Avatar n tn ve googled and see that some potential causes are cellulitis, hypothyroidism, tooth abscess, allergies, trauma, infections, inflammation, I think lupus?, and cancer. I have had some recent dental issues (infection, teeth pulled, roots left too long after a tooth fell out). Has anyone had this? So weird. I mean, I guess I should assume it's from the dental stuff, but I just had another panoramic xray, and the dentist said everything was fine.
Avatar n tn Spread to the knuckle, mild cellulitis looking, joint involved, low-grade fevers, poor response to Bactrim. Has four fish tanks, works with cows/pigs in a muddy field, gardens, has 2 cats. Now, four months later still low-grade fevers but worsening, joint nearly resolved, increasing malaise, lethargy, new skin lesions on knees, lower legs oral lesions, nasal lesion. 3 months of clarithryomycin and rifampin with increasing temps, stopped one month ago.
Avatar n tn Hi my whole neck both sides and the front is so swollen and rock hard also my clavicle and the top of one breast and under one armpit all rock hard. Swollowing is becoming difficult and I feel breathless even when not moving. I am sick most days and have been having pain in my neck at the front, both sides, lower abdomen and back for a few weeks now.
Avatar m tn On January 16th, after popping an ingrown hair on my shaft, I developed fever/chills overnight, and my penis shaft swelled up tremendously in a few hours (all symptoms of cellulitis). No sores, just swollen. Doctor said he was certain it was cellulitis, and prescribed antibiotics which fixed everything. After doing some reading, I found that cellulitis can affect people with HIV because of their weakened immune system. I guess it is the timing of all this that has me scared.
973741 tn?1342342773 We are back now and actually they think he had some type of staff or strep infection and the toxins from the infection caused a cellulitis. He's on two antibiotics now and we have 24 hours for them to work or it is back to the hospital for IV antibiotics. His ear looks like it is going to explode off his head and now it is running down his cheek. thanks for the response tschock.
Avatar f tn So on the 19th, My wife was in a world of pain and really swollenafter 5 days of antibiotics. She’d taken amoxicillin and clindamycin and neither helped. She went to the surgeon and he did an I&D and extracted the tooth. He switched her to augmentin. By Monday the pain was worse, she couldn’t swallow, the cheek was bigger and she’d developed cellulitis so we went to the ED. They admitted her and on Tuesday they did another I&D and extracted 2 more teeth. They put a drain in as well.
Avatar m tn My mother has a kind of rash for about a week now which a doctor said that it is Urticarial Vasculitis. Another doctor said that it is Erysipeloidal Cellulitis and seemed very sure of himself. The problem is that she has some problems in the lower part of her left leg (some small boils - ulcers of 1-2 cm in diameter). I'm really bad at describing the disease, so i've taken some pictures.
Avatar m tn so I took my STD test but before I got the result I panicked thinking of gonorrhea or syphilis and took Augmentin for 3 days. Now the tests are all negative but considering the window period for some STD, should I finish taking Augmentin as a precaution to get rid of the possible infection? Thank you.
Avatar n tn Because I had been previously diagnosed (and treated with 1000mg Amoxicillin three times daily) with a sinus and left ear infection about a month earlier he suspected that I could possibly have some type of resistant sinusitus and prescribed Augmentin XR (1000 mg) 2 pills twice a day. I had oral sex again with the asymptomatic guy again on 4/11. I was informed by the guy who developed gonorrhea of all this today, 4/14, and have not had sex with him since before his symptoms began.
Avatar n tn t mention drawing blood for a CBC, although I did get an antibiotic injection and a script for Bactrim and circle drawn around my cellulitis lesion. Am I totally out of line to worry about possible granulocytopenia? I know it's very unlikely on only 5 mgs. So should I not worry at all unless I also develop a fever and sore throat, which according to the internet, are the classic symptoms of reduced granulocytes? Thanks.
250701 tn?1320974765 My lung Doctor called me in some augmentin because I have been coughing up thick yellow mucus. I just don't know if I can take it on treatment. Does anyone know??
Avatar n tn It has been over 3 years since I had cellulitis from injections in my neck and base of skull. I also have experienced chronic fatigue and a general decline in my overall health. At first my whole body swelled up. I was on IV antibiotics then switched to oral for a few months. Any insight would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn I also have Diabetes Inspidus and am often incontinent and sweaty, but with dry mouth nose and eyes and a terrible thirst. I am female, aged 44, and not yet menopausal. I currently am recovering from a cellulitis infection in my right arm which has been there for about 5 weeks, it peaked at about 3 weeks ago. Just as it is getting better, the sweats and fever I normally suffer whilst having this are not .
Avatar m tn It is highly likely that Augmentin in the dose and duration I just recommended would abort incubating gonorrhea -- which almost certainly you didn't catch anyway. You can safely take the drug then continue unprotected sex with your wife. The problem here isn't just STD; you apparently are reacting emotionally to the sexual event, perhaps conflicted about your own sexual orientation or preferences. But this isn't a counseling service, so that will be all for this thread.
Avatar f tn was aware I had the seizure problem and prescribed cipro, which I had to call and tell them to send me something different. The one at the pharmacy now is Augmentin. Just need a neurologist`s expert opinion as to whether or not it is alright to take Augmentin with my myoclonic seizure condition. Do not want to start up any seizures. However, this UTI is hurting so badly!!! If It is too risky then I can`t take it!!!! Please help me.
Avatar f tn Augmentin will affect your pill. The other one I do not know about. It probably takes a couple of days for the antiboitics to get out of your system. You might wanna use a second form of protection just in case.
Avatar m tn You can see from the information below, the signs and symptoms of orbital cellulitis and the information you have provided suggests that these signs and symptoms, including fever, are not present. This, plus the lack of progression or worsening suggest that you do not have orbital cellulitis. And, clearing of the green drainage suggests that the sinus infection is subsiding.
Avatar n tn I had one get infected several years ago and ended up with a nasty case of cellulitis that ended me up int he hospital for 7 days and I nearly not only lost my hand/arm, but also my life. Please get this checked out immediately.
Avatar n tn My husband is 75 years old and have been dealing with cellulitis (inflamation and redness) on his right leg for over a month. He is been taking antibiotics intravenously and also in pills, but this does not seem to help. He also have twitching of right leg and a lot of pain all over but more in his back and knees. CAN SOMEONE HELP ME? ANY IDEAS?
Avatar m tn I was Dx w/fibro last year but have had symptoms for six years. Now something new has popped up: I have had cellulitis twice in the last eight months and the lymph nodes under my arms are swollen to the size of golf balls and very painful. My dr says that it's a result of the cellulitis and I will have to go on periodic antibiotic injections until the swelling goes down. What next?
Avatar m tn The reason why i suspected Cellulitits is because the sores developed rapidly, the area around them was inflamed, and cellulitis is common complication of athlete's foot. I'm thinking about buying some antibiotics and anti fungal cream (even though the athlete's foot is practically all cleared now).
Avatar m tn Afternoon. I have had cellulitis in my nose for over a month.... took Bactrim, Clindamycin, and another 5 days of Bactrim.. which didn't help in the first place... but... i have this swollen membrane (i guess) from the tip of my nose about 1/2 inch back... it always feels like it is going to swell up again.... with no insurance another 125.00 is not what I want to pay since it seems like none of that helped anyway... anybody have any thoughts on this one???
