212161 tn?1599427282 Hello... I have asthma and take Flovent 2xday and used to take Combivent as needed. My Dr switched me from Combivent to Atrovent. With Atrovent, I find that it doesn't cause my heart to race as much as it did when using the Combivent.
Avatar f tn Side effects and allergies to drugs would be very different. Side effects could improve over time or with improved inhaler techniques. Allergies would stop you from using the medication completely. Allergies to medications should be limitated to certain drugs or ones that work very similarly. There should be other inhaled steroids (same use as budesonide) that you should be able to safely use. Another possibility is singulair if the asthma is allergy based.
7748835 tn?1393868668 Hello. I'm 16, 5'6 and 118lbs. I've had asthma since I was little and I just got a diagnosis that it was moderate persistent asthma but has worsened since I've had that diagnosis so I'm sure it's severe now. I'm on Advair 250/20 as a preventor and I have Ventolin HFA as a rescue inhaler. I take Advair twice a day, but sometimes forget to take it. I don't believe it helps prevent any symptoms or attacks whatsoever.
Avatar m tn I am 62 and have Emphysema, I exercise and take Atrovent HFA and do OK. My question is that I would like to move to Florida, I have been there during moderate humidity and had no real problem. I have seen other posts with statements like Florida would be OK or that you should avoid humidity I am looking for a definitive answer if posible.
Avatar n tn Although it can cause nervousness and many other ill side effects, bad temper does not seem to be one of them. The temper could stem from the asthma itself...because she is 6 she is still trying to find ways to express feelings, pain, etc. It's possible that she's acting this way because she's feeling nervous from the medication or from the asthma itself...remember that it's a scary thing not being able to breath.
920032 tn?1550680156 The very best mucolytic I have found (and no side effects whatsoever) is vitamin B5. Try taking 500 mg daily. That will probably work. I take 1000 because I have chronic bronchitis. I am glad you got off steroids. I too developed adrenal fatigue. That stuff is poison. I substituted natural anti-inflammatories and mucolytics and my breathing, like yours, is much improved. Steroids were actually worsening my condition.
Avatar f tn Advair is a combination medication. It has an ihaled corticosteroird (ICS) and a long acting beta2 agonist (LABA - long acting broncho dilater). It is not recommended that you stop taking the ICS all at once. It is a steroid, although it doesn't have the same side effects of oral steroids. The ICS is really the primary treatment for asthma. After you are feeling better, you can discus trying an ICS only medication like Asmanex or Alvesco with your doctor.
Avatar n tn I have been using Combivent for about a month together with Asmanex to treat my cough-variant asthma and have had pretty good results. However, the first inhalation of Combivent always triggers a major coughing spell (sometimes it's so severe I almost vomit or my ribs hurt). Are there other bronchodilators that might be easier to inhale and still be effective? Or would using a nebulizer help? I've heard there can be adverse side effects with a nebulizer.
Avatar m tn I heard that symbicort has less long term side effects but after over a year my FEV1 scores haven't improved at all on it
Avatar f tn I was prescribed Ventolin HFA and Asmanex. I took these medications and had a lot of side effects from both medications. The side effects felt worse than the actual symptoms. I continued taking the Asmanex and did not really notice any difference in my breathing which further leads me to believe that I may not have asthma. I have been prescribed Xoponex HFA and Flovent but I am afraid to take them because of the side effects that I experienced last time.
Avatar n tn Hello, Several conditions can cause tremors such as many medication side effects, alcoholism, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, stroke or focal seizures, low or high thyroid, tumors of the brain, Friedrich's ataxia or Wilson's disease. One type of tremors have no known cause and they are called essential tremors. If your condition is worsening you probably need to see your doctor to determine the cause and why it is getting worse.
1528897 tn?1291833568 You could try different types of allergy medications. Nasal sprays are very effective with few, if any, side effects. Nasal steroids are the most common. There are also nasal antihistamines. You can also purchase an OTC mast cell stabilizer, NasalCrom. It is very effective. Lastly, if nasal drainage is the problem you can try atrovent. Have you tried a variety of oral antihistamines. Zyrtec has very few side effects.
Avatar f tn My names Eve and Im 15. I got diagnosed with asthma around 4 months ago after suffering from a reoccurring cough, wheezing, heavy breathing and shortness of breath. spirometry confirmed that it was asthma I had and I got out on the brown preventer inhaler and the blue reliever.
Avatar f tn My son has suffered that for years. We finally went to a university hospital where they did all the typical GERD related test and as soon as they discovered he actually had GERD, it seemed like they concentrated on that as being the source of his cough, and stopped listening to what he was telling them, that the cough would start as soon as he ate food. It didn't have enough time to get to his stomach and then start to regurge.

Avatar n tn I would like to limit the amount of medication that I inhale or take due to possible side effects, so if anyone knows of any remedy that might treat this burning sensation, then please reply back to me.
Avatar n tn What will happen if you don't rinse your mouth out after you use the Proventil HFA inhaler?
Avatar m tn Your hypertension may not be related to the Duonase spray, as they are usually locally acting and do not have systemic effects. You can try Atrovent spray for your symptoms. Discuss these options with your consulting doctor. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn Also, theophyline is another bronchodilater. It has some serious side effects and blood levels will be monitored carefully. It does work well. Caffiene is the the theophyline class of medicines. It can have a mile affect as a bronchodilater. So drinking some hot cafeinated tea or coffee might help relieve some of your symptoms. Another thing my GP used on me to get me through to seeing the allergist is hyoscyamine. That is a smooth muscle relaxer that is typically used for IBS.
Avatar n tn ve lived in the same town my whole life and no change in living conditions. My doctor prescribed me Pro Air HFA. Immediately I was using it more than the recommended amounts. It makes me very jittery and makes my hands shake. When I came in I was told to keep using it and then prescribed Qvar. The Qvar gave me debilitating headaches. I've since stopped taking both but the headaches and shaking still continue.
Avatar m tn Thanks, With Ventolin getting some side effects and thus stooped its use after 5-6 days.
920032 tn?1550680156 lately my overnight breathing is causing me problems. i asked my gp for singulair but she prescribed atrovent. it does get mucus up but i am waking to cough it up. i have excersize induced asthma. it was on this site that i heard about singulair.
Avatar f tn Im just a little concerned because i used it once so far, and i know that sometimes the side effects can be really severe (ive been having REALLY bad drowsiness, but thats just annoying not much of a big deal) but it also seemed that the inhaler actually made my chest pains worse. It just made it seem like i had this huge gulp of air caught in my chest.. like i needed to burp but couldnt make it come out.
Avatar f tn If I have had a severe Asthma attack my rib cage is sore, usually on the left side near the inner side of my ribs by my breast. I also have coughed so hard I have cracked my ribs. I found using a warn heating pad helps after about 15 minutes. So you are not alone, but I would mention it to you Dr. to be on the safe side. I hope this has helped you.
Avatar m tn It is often treated with a drying nasal spray (like Atrovent) and antihistamines like chlorpheniramine and loratadine are effective. Nasal decongestant drops too relieve congestion. Please consult your primary care physician for further evaluation. Regards.
