Atripla missing a dose

Common Questions and Answers about Atripla missing a dose

atripla

Avatar m tn Hello, My wife was raped 4 months ago during a robbery, got her checked by a doctor, there was no semen, no damage and penetration was less than 5 minutes apparently. I started her with a drug called ATRIPLA about 50 hours after exposure. What are her chances of getting infected for HIV and how effective is Atripla in Preventing it?? What is the success rate of ATRIPLA??
Avatar m tn An HIV DUO test or an RNA test would be good now and nPEP has a 86% success rate aswell.A follow up test 12 weeks after your last dose of nPEP is 100% conclusive.
1012649 tn?1256229718 Hi. My doctor recently changed my meds from Atripla to the same combination but in two tablets which is Sustiva and Truvada which has emtricitibine in it too. I checked, and these are the same ingredients in Atripla. He changed it because I had a "blip" in my viral load. Viral load was at one point after taking Atripla "undedectable" for about 10 months, then went up to 45 then 3 months later tp 65.
Avatar f tn But if you are not treated, probably you will die within a few years. With treatment, you probably will live a normal life span. If you want to see your kids grow up and have grandchildren to hug, it seems like a pretty easy decision. Just do it.
Avatar f tn Don't sweat it, missing a dose should not effect his treatment, a pattern of this then yes... Just go on as normal... Riba has a long half life... Best to both of you...
Avatar m tn I had neuro syphilis (rash, lost some hearing stage 2 i believe it was) about 2 years ago and went on atripla at that time. There was a few months (from December 2012 until about June 2013) i was off the meds due to my insurance/cost etc. Back in October 2012 i had all my blood was negative for syphilis and all numbers were great.
Avatar n tn Thank you Doctor, Have a great day!
Avatar n tn I also now took a PCR DNA thats not back yet. I went to a free clinic that gave me a rapid test that came up negative. I am wondering if four days now of Atripla could cause that to be negative? I am wondering if Atripla after four days will make my DNA PCR test invalid? I am wondering if I can have such bad symptoms without enough antibodies being present to make these other tests positive? I am wondering what else would cause these perfect HIV symptoms?
Avatar m tn Thank you doctor. I can't tell you how much I value your guidance. First, I wanted to add that my chlamydia and gonorrhea tests came back negative today. I just had a couple of quick clarifying questions for you: 1. Would you please clarify why you called the decision regarding whether or not to continue the Atripla a "toss up?" I totally appreciate the fact that you would not have given it (and I of course noted that you did say you would discontinue it if it were you)..
Avatar n tn This should be immediately discussed by a doctor where he shall assess the risk and run a few tests for liver and kidney functions before he takes your pills.
Avatar m tn Atripla is not a good choice then.
Avatar f tn My husband was diagnosed in dec after a 5day stay in hospital discharged as neg but tild to call doc in 3days some blood work was not ready. Ehen we called they told him to go seea doc they started him on atripla. He is doing fine but he says he is neg the test r wrong. I don't want to sound stupid but since I am still neg I recently started to wonder if he is right.
Avatar f tn I was so scared my doctor put me on pep atripla one time a day for 28 days for the exposure on the 13th. On the 18th the results were in everything came out negative. I finished my last dose of pep on the 11th of May. I tested via oralquik swab on May 14th (6 weeks after exposure) and May 28th (8 weeks after exposure) both were negative. I've called CDC and they advised me that the window period is the same for people who have taken PEP. I have had no fever or rash.
Avatar n tn She gave me an Elisa HIV fulll STD panel Hep ABC, Epstein Barr test and a prescription for Atripla didnt fill til after the test. All tests came up negative, Took Atripla for 5 days and when neg test I stopped. I took a DNA PCR HIV test at time, negative but after 5 days of Atripla. My Epstein Barr was active high so possible. But not new or acute infection. Symptoms now have continued for a month, very severe, very painful. Going to take my 2 month Elisa and DNA test next week 7/17.
Avatar m tn The following day I went to the doctor and told him that the guy gave a blowjob without me having a condom on my penis. I'm so worried about HIV that I asked the doctor for PEP and he gave me Atripla for 30 days. I'm so scared! I keep reading that it's a low risk almost zero to get HIV from getting a blow job. Is this still true?
Avatar m tn Hey there. I had sex with a guy (i was the top). we had elisa test and he was positive:( I think it happened to him one year before. he never take hiv drugs till now. Doctors thinks that he will have big viral load. He also has syphilis:( I saw bllod outside of his a** and he went to clean (dont know ih he did with water or paper). I changed condom but suddenly it broke. I think I understood it after 5 to 60 seconds...
393419 tn?1228447393 You could do either one, really. Taking one tonight MAY make it hard to get to sleep, or it may not. Missing one dose is not a disaster, and you could wait until morning if you want to.
Avatar m tn I could only contact my Dr.by the 60th hour after exposure and he put me on Viraday(Atripla) as a PEP.The 28 day course got over on the 7th of March. Now,as generally it is believed that PEP does not delay seroconversion,so can a 6 week 4th generation test be taken as conclusive in my case or further testing is warranted. In case a 4th generation test is not available, will a 3rd generation ELISA test do ? Plz do respond as I'm totally freaked out.
598319 tn?1282102140 Its nice to meet a fellow member of the supplemental progesterone team! I'm also on it...but taking vaginal suppositories, not cream. I've been on it since I was about 4 weeks (i'm 8 weeks now), but I've never missed a dose yet. If it was just one though, I wouldnt worry. But you can always call your doctor to let him/her know and see if you should double up on it since you missed one.
