I started meds fairly soon after. I started Atripla in 2010. It got be undetectable quickly and has kept that way. I never had major bad side effects on it. I did have some crazy dreams and still do. After I was on it for a couple years, things began to slowly deteriorate. I began getting panic attacks, and bouts of tachycardia and palpitations. I had a history of those but it seemed to get worse.
I took that to a specialist who saw the test, looked me over and gave me Atripla to start to be safe. She also sent me off for more tests, elisa and others. I also now took a PCR DNA thats not back yet. I went to a free clinic that gave me a rapid test that came up negative. I am wondering if four days now of Atripla could cause that to be negative? I am wondering if Atripla after four days will make my DNA PCR test invalid?
Late at night on 6/11, I had brief unprotected insertive vaginal intercourse with a 22 year old CSW (stripper in Vegas) of unknown risk. I've read on this site that very few CSWs in North America are HIV positive, but she was Asian (she said Japanese, but I don't really know) with a pretty thick accent, so I don't know how long she has been in this country.
The potential exposure lasted no longer than 30 seconds and there was no ejaculation.
My partner was exposed to hiv during anal intercourse and is currently taking my Atripla. I am undetectable. Should we continue the Atripla or should he be on nPEP at all ??
My husband was diagnosed in dec after a 5day stay in hospital discharged as neg but tild to call doc in 3days some blood work was not ready. Ehen we called they told him to go seea doc they started him on atripla. He is doing fine but he says he is neg the test r wrong. I don't want to sound stupid but since I am still neg I recently started to wonder if he is right.
I am a gay male who is HIV- (one previous partner in last 6 months [3 months ago] tested negative 3 days ago). I began dating a guy a couple weeks ago and early this week, we were foolish and began having unprotected anal intercourse. I was the top and entered him (with lubrication) for approximately one minute (tops--probably more like 15 seconds). We stopped, but then later, I re-entered him (no lubrication) for approximately one more minute before stopping. I did not ejaculate in him.
I was so scared my doctor put me on pep atripla one time a day for 28 days for the exposure on the 13th. On the 18th the results were in everything came out negative. I finished my last dose of pep on the 11th of May. I tested via oralquik swab on May 14th (6 weeks after exposure) and May 28th (8 weeks after exposure) both were negative. I've called CDC and they advised me that the window period is the same for people who have taken PEP. I have had no fever or rash.
PCR RNA at 56 days with a 5 days of Atripla in between. Could Atripla knock down primary viral load that much in 5 days to skew this test? Could it also extend my Elisa Window?
Now desipte who comes to your site or HIV anxiety run amuck does, I have no interest in making myself crazier than I am. I was not concerned that I had a sexual episode with a risky person at all. The symptoms just hit me like a ton of bricks 3 weeks after and I had to do something. So I was'nt looking for anything.
I had protected anal sex 3 days ago with a guy who claims to be clean. The following day I went to the doctor and told him that the guy gave a blowjob without me having a condom on my penis. I'm so worried about HIV that I asked the doctor for PEP and he gave me Atripla for 30 days. I'm so scared! I keep reading that it's a low risk almost zero to get HIV from getting a blow job. Is this still true?
I didnt saw blood to my penis, just the liquid that the condom leaves every time or maybe sth else, but not blood... i started pep with atripla at 39 hourse and today i drund the last dose (one month). Tommorow morning ill have my first andibody test. Im so scared with hiv. All this month, i was not eating (first days at all and then a little), crying and sleeping all day... At the 23rd day i had red neck inside (but i could eat well without pain). This is sth i have usaally every 2-3 mmonts.
I had neuro syphilis (rash, lost some hearing stage 2 i believe it was) about 2 years ago and went on atripla at that time. There was a few months (from December 2012 until about June 2013) i was off the meds due to my insurance/cost etc. Back in October 2012 i had all my blood was negative for syphilis and all numbers were great.
hello there,we're on thesame regimen.i recently changed from sustiva to norvir,truvada and reyetaz.i've been on this for 8months now but no s/e.i had uti once,but that's about it.what was ur cd4 count before u got on the meds?
I could only contact my Dr.by the 60th hour after exposure and he put me on Viraday(Atripla) as a PEP.The 28 day course got over on the 7th of March.Now,as generally it is believed that PEP does not delay seroconversion,so can a 6 week 4th generation test be taken as conclusive in my case or further testing is warranted.In case a 4th generation test is not available,will a 3rd generation ELISA test do ?

He did not ejaculate inside me, however it was unprotected. Later today I saw in his cabinet the medication atripla which I found out is for the treatment of HIV. I have not been able to discuss my finding with him as of yet, but I'm very very concerned. I went to a late operating clinic that advised me to see a specialist. However, Im curious as to the prophylaxis meds and how they work. Could someone help me on what I should do next?
Good day all. I am taking atripla as pep. I am reading scary stuff that hiv could be resistant to are drugs. Is it possible that the hiv strain could be resistant to all 3 components of atripla rendering it useless? Two components are the same as truvada.
I opened the package to see what it was because he never takes medicine and I thought something was wrong. After some research I found out that Atripla is for treating HIV. He has been taking it for 5 months now (it said the original date on the rx). Needless to say I freaked out and about had a panic attack. I have not asked him about it yet, but I am going to. I want to go get tested ASAP but I cant until Monday morning.
I started her with an antiretroviral treatment within the 72 hour window (about 52 hours after the incident) the medicine is called ATRIPLA she is two weeks in... my questions are:
1) What are her chances of getting HIV?
2) Is it safe to have sex with the antiretroviral treatment in effect?
3) Is there any way to know if she is infected before three month period?
