Ativan® (lorazepam) is generally considered unsafe for women who are pregnant. In previous animal studies involving Ativan and pregnancy, the drug caused miscarriages and birth defects.
Ativan and Pregnancy Category D
The U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) uses a category system to classify the possible risks to a fetus when a specific medicine is taken during pregnancy. Pregnancy Category D is given to medicines that have shown clear evidence of risk to the fetus in studies.
She takes 1 mg of Ativan twice a day if needed when she feels an episode coming on or if an episode has started. In the past 9 weeks she has taken approximately 20 ativan when she was having an episode of vomiting or panic. She found out yesterday that she is about 5 weeks pregnant and the OB that she will be seeing told her not to take any more Ativan but didn't give any alternative to control the cyclical vomiting or panic which accompanies it.
My psychiatrist has just added Zyprexa to take with Prozac as the Prozac is not working like it used to work.I'm worried about the weight gain with Zyprexa, is there something else that could be used with the Prozac instead? Also until now I've also been taking 1 mg. Ativan in the morning and 1 mg Ativan before bed. Is it safe to use Ativan with the Zyprexa?
I can't seem to get enough sleep without sleeping pills. I am bi-polar and take meds for that. My anxiety is probably the worst. It has gotten me into other health issues whilst self-medicating. I have a RX for .5 twice a day. Ativan. Loraxzapam (sp). I feel I'm getting better taking fewer each day. I take nothing from time to time. I need to know it's there. My question is how soon can you be "immune" to the effects?
Google Ativan and ringing in the ears, rondoo. The ringing is a w/d symptom and Ativan, being a short term benzo will keep you in perpetual withdrawal until your next dose. Keep a diary of when the ringing is at it's worst and I will bet it's time for your dose of Ativan. I have severe ringing after coming off Neurontin last Dec, but I had tinnitus to begin, probably from Xanax now that I'm thinking about it, although not to this extent.
Your doctor obviously wanted you to have access to the Ativan, in case you had a sudden attack, so you could take one and have it under control in 20 minutes. 'As needed' is the same as PRN.The doctor meant for you to use it in this way, and no other. Benzos cause dependence in people who take them as they are supposed to, and cannot come off them without a doctor's supervision.
very similar in strength...both are at the top as being the strongest benzos...there is a chart in my journal that compares benzos...
