asacol

Avatar m tn s supply of Lialda. Otherwise, it is extremely expensive. It will depend on your insurance on what it will cost, but before the card and after insurance, it was going to be $497 for me.
Avatar m tn I have a NEW G.I. doc who keeps referring me to a colonoscopy and an MRCP before she decides to do anything but I've had a flare-up of UC for a month and need some relief. Today I saw a whole Asacol HD tablet excreted and the G.I.doc said "that's ok--it's still absorbed." Ok--so now I must be reasonable and ask a question as how is it absorbed when NONE OF IT--repeat, NONE OF IT---is degraded at all? This woman doesn't get it. Anyway, what should I do now?
Avatar f tn I started Asacol almost two weeks ago, and it worked very well after a couple of days, but after almost two weeks, I got very weak, dizzy spells, fatigue, like the flu. It's been five days, and most of the time I need to lay down. I couldn't go to work today. When does it stop? I stopped the medication four days ago. It was for colitis.
Avatar n tn I have been on Asacol in a prophylactic capacity since (800mg tid). Does it keep me in remission. Maybe, but maybe it is the tremendous quantities of fentanyl, diacetylmorphine and morphine I abused as well for all I know :P. From my somewhat limited research into Asacol, it is tolerated very differently by different people; some sing its praises, others curse it as worsening their condition.
1483944 tn?1288100910 It has happened in the past, it is strange that he changed the diagnosis. Prednisone and Asacol and staple drugs in both Crohn's and colitis, and if you were put on them it makes sense that the doc saw inflammation when you were tested and diagnosed it as Crohn's. It could be that the medications were working and upon further testing the inflammation was reduced to the extent that the doctor felt the initial diagnosis was wrong, when in fact you were going into remission.
Avatar n tn Is there a program where my son can get help with his Rx for asacol? He does not have insurance.
Avatar n tn I agree with the workup and treatment thus far. RLQ pain can be due to appendicitis, but is less likely with a normal CT scan. Inflammatory bowel disease or irritable bowel syndrome can be considered. A colonoscopy can be considered to evaluate for this. Small bowel is sometimes difficult to see with this test, and a small bowel series can also be done. Another option would be a capsule endoscopy to assist in visualizing the small bowel.
Avatar m tn The area of thickening would sometimes be the same but it would also change from time to time. There was also some mesenteric stranding associated with the areas of thickening and mildly enlarged lymph nodes were noted on one of the scans. All organs were found to be normal each time any of the scans were run. There was one month 4 years ago when i had constant diarrhea. After some ER visits I was diagnosed with crohn's by the ER physicians and my GP.
Avatar n tn You're the boss, not him. You also have a duty as a parent to make sure he is healthy. By saying 'I can't do anything' you effectively are neglecting your child. If you can't protect him, perhaps the state should. They will do what you won't. It seems, you need to put your foot down and get serious about his health. It sounds like he's extremely ill and has liver disease along with cardiac disease and a list of other ailments.
Avatar f tn My doctor put me on Asacol and I had horrible uncontrollable diarrhea. I took it for a few months and decided constipation was less painful and embarressing than diarrhea. You may try drinking Apple Cider Vinegar mixed with honey. It's a natural remedy for reducing inflammation and it works.
Avatar m tn My daughter has Crohn's disease and had it about 1 yr at least. At 1st she would go to bath rm and it was all blood for quite awhile then they did biopies and found crohns.Shes on asscol meds( not sure spelling) and predisone. She been on predisone since July as when she gets off she starts up again. The dr wants her to take med..6MP and she scared and won't do it.She needs to get off predisone and 6mp causes cnacer and lose ur hair her pharmist told her.
Avatar f tn Did your doctor mention a colonoscopy? What does your doctor say? A lot of conditions should have been ruled out by the CT scans especially when done with contrast.
1816263 tn?1316895122 I have been on Asacol for over a year, and while it helps symptoms, it does not do much to treat underlying disease. Also use probiotics (align and culturelle), which help withe the incontinence.
Avatar m tn Cant post a link to the picture so I uploaded it into my profile
Avatar m tn No matter what your doctor might say do the test. I wish I had done it 25 years earlier.
Avatar f tn The longer you have active disease the more it can hurt the lining of your bowel and possibly result in what happened with me. My son now has colitis (much worse than what I had in the early stages) and they put him on Imuran (an immune suppressant) and he has been in complete remission for the last year. Pay attention to what is going on and if it gets real bad you must get back to your gastro doc. They will treat a bad bout with prednisone which really heals it up quickly.
Avatar n tn I have UC and am wondering if this is simular. They also mentioned Chrones. What should we be looking at to educate ourselves on this and what does he have to look forward to as we learn to manage his condition?
Avatar f tn the doctor at the time told me that it was the same thing as asacol, however, i found it to be less effective. another doctor later told me that they have the same active ingredient mesalamine, but pentasa reaches a different part of your track... i think asacol stays intact longer, so it gets released lower down in your system. anyway, i think either of the 2 drugs are mainly for maintenance like the others said.
Avatar f tn ve been having severe abdominal attacks for a better word for it. It came within a half to one hour of eating and usually does. I get real loud bowel sounds on my left side of my abdomen. Then cramping starts and I feel like I'm going to have diarrhea. Before I get the the restroom my lips start going numb, my face feels hot and then depending on the outcome I either pass out on the toilet or I'm doubled over in gut wrenching pain.
1446077 tn?1284510191 My gastro is now saying I have IBS and there is nothing more he can do. I am taking Asacol 400 3/3x day and Levisin for pain. I have noticed a slight decrease in bowel movements but no decrease in the pain. What else can I do to get relief?
Avatar f tn Hello, Honestly I don't know that much about crohns and of course you would have to go with what your doctors tell you. But, a good book is "Physician, Heal Thyself" by Jordan Rubin. He was diagnosed with Crohns and basically healed himself (pretty much nearly died from it) - and then he became a doctor. He had other books as well. They are at the library. He has one called "The Maker's Diet".
420686 tn?1219632592 For the people out there who are or were pregnant and had crohn's, how did you do? Did you symptoms get better? worse? Are people with Crohn's a high risk pregnancy?
