My daughter has Crohn's disease and had it about 1 yr at least.At 1st she would go to bath rm and it was all blood for quite awhile then they did biopies and found crohns.Shes on asscol meds( not sure spelling) and predisone. She been on predisone since July as when she gets off she starts up again.The dr wants her to take med..6MP and she scared and won't do it.She needs to get off predisone and 6mp causes cnacer and lose ur hair her pharmist told her.

Has anyone tried Lialda? Does it perform any better than Asacol? How much more is your co-pay for Lialda than Asacol. I want to ask my doc to make a switch.

I started Asacol almost two weeks ago, and it worked very well after a couple of days, but after almost two weeks, I got very weak, dizzy spells, fatigue, like the flu. It's been five days, and most of the time I need to lay down. I couldn't go to work today. When does it stop? I stopped the medication four days ago. It was for colitis.

I have a NEW G.I. doc who keeps referring me to a colonoscopy and an MRCP before she decides to do anything but I've had a flare-up of UC for a month and need some relief. Today I saw a whole Asacol HD tablet excreted and the G.I.doc said "that's ok--it's still absorbed." Ok--so now I must be reasonable and ask a question as how is it absorbed when NONE OF IT--repeat, NONE OF IT---is degraded at all? This woman doesn't get it. Anyway, what should I do now?

My GP referred me to a gastroenterologist who found no conclusive causes for my symptoms after checking blood work and a stool culture. Continued to trudge through my daily routines assuming the added responsibility of motherhood was the cause of my sub-par feeling. Fast forward a few years after my GP finding no reasons for my lack of fatigue just tried to make do...

Is there a program where my son can get help with his Rx for asacol? He does not have insurance.

I have noticed that my asacol is not breaking down and is being passed in my stool! Is their a reason for this? What can/should I do?

i believe that pentasa is more for management of colitis once it's under control from steroids like once the steroids bring down your flare up u will continue to take pentasa to maintain your colitis control so you could be on it for quite sometime i have never taken pentasa myself thought they have me on salofalk which i believe is for the same thing, just to keep uc under control. not sure if that helped at all but anyways good luck wishing you the best.

i was prescribed asacol 2x 400mg, 3 times a day for two weeks. after this time i was also diagnosed with CKD at stage 3a with a GFR of 53 and a creatinine clearance of 87.14ml/min. i took asacol again for one month at a reduced rate of 1x 400mg, 3 times a day (3-4 tablets recommended for prevention of relapse). then i stopped taking it for 2 months. i took asacol again at 1x400mg, 2 times a day for 2 months.

We are wondering if there are any recommended treatment for Crohn’s other than Prednisone and Align and if there is any other disease that it may be and how to get tested for it. We have tried so many things and nothing seems to be working at this point. We would appreciate any advice.

Good day to you all. This is my first post and I am not sure where to begin. In 1995 I was diagnosed with anal cist (is that how it's spelt?) and following many surgeries, procedures and tests the doctors have said that I may have Crohn's. The bowel from time to time indicates this but the blood works always come back negative. What are they testing for anyway? All I know is that periodically I get boughts of frequent diahorrea with stomach cramps.

ve just started a flare when in the UK for xmas (had doxy... antibiotics which I think triggered it) and doc prescribed asacol foam enemas- FX they will work. I will buy a few boxes to take back to Japan and avoid another flare. It is ridiculous that all drugs are not available in all developed countries especially when we pay an insurance premium anyway. Eating out with a girl then going dancing was very embarising. Even dring sex. Started to work and again samething, bosses not knowing what to make of me needing to use the bathroom, I was let go from good jobs because of mising work, being late to work, useing the bathroom. About at the age of 22 I was at a parity and someone was smoking pot. I was looking to fit in and tried it. I noticed right away my belly was relaxed.

I have just recieved my positive result all biopsys where negative but my dr kept doing blood work. Finally some lab out in California said I had it. I guess it was an antibody test. The colon examine showed a inflamed large intestine . Now he wants me to start on a 40mg prednisone course thats 8 pills a day for two weeks Then 7 pills a day for two weeks and on and on then if my problem isnt under control I go on it for 2 years straight .

my gastro prescribed asacol...800 mg 2 tabs twice daily. I looked at the drug pamphlet and I see that it can affect liver enzymes. I dont need that since I already have mildly abnormal values. I called my gastro to tell him my concern and he said it would not hurt me. I am supposed to be on them indefinitely. I also take 5 mg prednisone for my r/a. Just wondering how this will affect the liver. I know I am not on the higher side of the doses given but still...

i dont like him eating that stuff but there is only so many things he can stomach and he has always been a picky and very poor eater. ive seen babies eat more than he does. he does eat sometimes late at night but it is not very much.

My brother in law has known he has Ulcerative Colitis for twenty five years, as does my wife. He has been out of work with no insurance for the last year. He has a job now but still no insurance and has had some bad flare ups. Can anyone tell me where to start calling / writing to try to get discounted meds for him? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Does Crohn's disease affect an hepatits c antibody test... and if so how long should you wait to be tested after exposure? Exposure was through a sub q needle stick at work... i was wearing gloves and got tested 7 and a half months after it. Negative results but I have had crohn's disease for at least 2-3 years... I am currently taking ASACOL HD 800mg 2 tabs twice a day.. i also have ulcerated colitis... I have ocasional diarrhea nothing to bad.

Had coloscopy in August-showed some mild inflammation in ilieum and rectal area-was put on Asacol. Asacol helped the rectal pain but RLQ pain continued. Went back to ED in Nov for severe RLQ pain. CT and bloodwork normal. I had changed from Asacol to Pentasa the week before and the rectal pain had come back-significant burning pain. Went to another doctor and had more bloodwork-borderline IBD tests. Went off Pentasa for a few days in Dec and had severe RLQ pain and right hand pain.

for inflammation though my blood work showed that my inflammatory markers were high. My gastro is now saying I have IBS and there is nothing more he can do. I am taking Asacol 400 3/3x day and Levisin for pain. I have noticed a slight decrease in bowel movements but no decrease in the pain. What else can I do to get relief?
