Arimidex drug

Common Questions and Answers about Arimidex drug

arimidex

Avatar n tn It will be very hard to ascertain if the hypertension is due to the arimidex without formally withdrawing the drug and observing your blood pressure. However, this might reduce the benefit that you can derive from the drug. I suggest you discuss this option well with your doctors. I believe that the best course of treatment (managing the hypertension and continuing the arimidex) is already being done.
Avatar f tn Has cancer reoccurred in patients while they have been on arimidex, not due to the drug, but due to the cancer. In other words, does taking arimidex prevent cancer from reoccurring while a patient is on it?
Avatar n tn I would seem odd to have this type of reaction since you've been on Arimidex for over 2 years but I suppose anything is possible. Since the Oncologist thinks your symptoms may be caused by something other than the drug you might want to ck. with a Neurologist regarding this numbness OR perhaps an Internist, since this may even be a circulatory issue.Sounds like it's going to be a process of elimination in order to find the cause. Regards ....
Avatar f tn Hallucinations are not listed as a side effect of Arimidex on the chemo drug Web site or a Web site providing detailed info about medications in general, nor was it listed as a side effect in an older version of the PDR I have at home. Not saying that means it couldn't still be related to Arimidex, but is your friend taking any other meds that might have caused this symptom?
Avatar n tn I even was in physical therapy for two months because I thought it was me but no it was the drug..
Avatar f tn Dear Jan This is the community forum where the members meet to ask each other questions and offer emotional supprt and not the expert forum. If you go down the page to the bottom right hand side you will see underneath the Community Members area, the Related Expert Forums and you will see ovarian cancer there. That is the link to Dr Goodman. If you look up at the top right hand side, just above Recent Activity there is a search bar that says "Search this Community".
Avatar n tn Though there is a good theoretical basis for the use of arimidex on endometriosis, I believe that this is still an off-label indication for the drug and the clinical basis for its use is still from phase II clinical trials (studies with still low number of patients). Until such time that the indication of endometriosis can be demonstrated in large phase III clinical trials, the use of arimidex for endometriosis is still controversial.
Avatar n tn My oncologist is in the process of deciding whether to prescribe Letrozole/Femara or Anastrozole/Arimidex. What considerations factor into which of these two drugs to use? Has anyone had experience with either of them? How serious are the side effects?
Avatar n tn I am 42 and have been on Arimidex since Feb. 20, 2009. I have had a hysterectomy in May to remove my ovaries. I have gained 15 pounds. I am on a 1600 calorie/day diet and walk six miles a day, four days a week. I would like to know if there is any thing else I can do to battle this weight gain. I will be on Arimidex for another four years.
Avatar m tn After seeing an endocrinologist who ran all types of blood work which came back normal with the exception of his estrogen level a bit higher then normal and had an X-ray of his hand which showed bones of a 13 half to 14 half yr old (I was told was good ) want to give my son arimidex. My question is......is this safe for teen boys. I read its not FDA approved for children.
Avatar f tn I had an ooferectomy almost 2 weeks ago as a precaution, as my mother died of ovarian cancer at the age of 59. I felt great until I started Arimidex on Tuesday, and now I feel horrible. I feel constantly tired and weak and my mind is not alert, I'm having trouble focusing on simple puzzles. I've also been emotionally fragile since Tuesday, crying or on the verge of crying. Will this pass?
Avatar f tn I switched to Aromasin from Arimidex and my I began losing my hair immediately. Changed back after 6 days but a week later, I'm still losing hair. Any ideas on how long this will continue?
Avatar n tn Please inform me of side effects of Arimidex. Also confirm whether clinical tests proved that arimidex really prevent cancer from returning. Recently I had a lumpectomy. The cancer was confined to the lump in my breast and did not spread to the limph nodes. I had a serie of 30 radiation treatments. My bone density is deteriorating, thus I would like to know whether I have to take osteobond 70mg weekly. Will arimidex contribute to loss of bone density? Thank you very much. Susan.
Avatar f tn Has anyone experienced a full face full of acne for a prolonged period after starting Arimidex? It is my friend who had breast cancer and she is blind and wants to write for her. She also has Lupus but she has seen a dermatologist and rheumatologist and they dismiss it as acne. She knows she is out of remission with discoid lupus. But they assured her the 'acne" is not lupus breakout.
Avatar f tn Last week the doctor had me switch to Arimidex as I had not had a period for one year. After taking it for a couple of days I was not feeling very well. I was having stomach discomfort, irratibility and swelling in my hands. I received a call from the doctor's office telling me not to take the Arimidex and return to Tamoxifen as my hormone levels suggested that I wasn't in menopause quite yet. How do these two drugs work differently?
Avatar n tn I have been on Arimidex for seven months and experienced an increase in libido, I am 72. The Oncologist checked for an increase in testosterone. Result: normal. The Doctor checked with an endocrinologist. The Arimidex is blocking the estrogen production and the body recognizes the testosterone more readily and reacts. Are there other women with this reaction?
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with bilateral breast cancer and underwent a bilateral mastectomy eventhough my tumors were considered to be small--level1. My mother had breast cancer twice, first time did a lumpectomy and tons of radiation and was pronounced cancer free after five years. The next year the cancer was back and she had a mastectomy. My question is since my tumors were small even if they were estrogen fed shouldn't the mastectomy have been enough.
Avatar f tn I saw a Professor of Endocrinology in Feb 2008, referred by my bc surgeon, as this guy has an academic interest in side effects of Arimidex. He suggested I continue with Arimidex and Fosamax to prevent further bone loss, but I cannot stand the pain and disturbance to my sleep. Does anyone have any experience of stopping Arimidex and getting a different med that does not have the side effect of bone pain?
Avatar n tn of course, he could give me no definite answer, but he did say that cataracts are somewhat more likely to occur in those who had taken the drug. Perhaps this is also the case with other eye problems.
Avatar n tn The hormone therapy has so many side affects. The drugs suggested for me are Arimidex or Raloxifene. Is there anyone that does not take hormone therapy and is still doing well with no recurrance?
Avatar n tn I have been taking Anastrozole for about two and half years for stage 1 ER/PR positive breast cancer. About a year after I started taking the drug, I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes that is not particularly well controlled, even though I take two different prescriptions. A few months after that I was diagnosed with high cholesterol. For that I now take Lipitor, which has lowered the total cholesterol quite a bit.
