Common Questions and Answers about Aricept side effects fainting

aricept

Avatar m tn If a person has not been diagnosed with alzheimers but is taking aricept, is it okay? will it hurt to be taking it?
Avatar n tn t mean at all its the wrong medication generally. Its just it has a fair amount of side effects for some people. But as anti-Parkinsonian medications can cause depression and other personality alterations that might be the one. I''d say best to relocate your question to the neurology forum as unless she had depression beforehand, because if it came from Alzheimer's and its neurological in origin the treatment will be very different.
Avatar f tn So today my Celexa dose was upped from half a pill to 1 whole pill and the side effects are coming back like when I first started... Sweaty, can't sleep, headache, stiff neck, clenching teeth... Etc. I don't know what to do. I tried taking stuff for it, including an Oxy but still no change. What can I take to make these side effects not so bad? I don't see the dr till Thursday, so I can't ask her... If anyone has any suggestions?
Avatar f tn By the way. I am on 75mg per day of Metoprolol, and have been as high as 200mg with no side effects except sluggishness at the high dose. I'm fine at 75mg and have taken it for 10 years, Now that I reread your post, do you think you're having syncope as a result of the medication of because the of Vtach?

Avatar n tn It has been observed that Aricept improves cognition and function, which includes effects on memory and performing everyday tasks, hence it would have been prescribed. The effect of memory is exerted through one such chemical called acetylcholine. This chemical helps carry messages from nerve cell to nerve cell in the brain. Memory is lost by disrupting these messages between cells. It is thought that Aricept may help reduce the breakdown of this chemical. Hope this helps. Bye.
Avatar n tn chest pain, persistent dizziness/fainting, slow/fast/irregular heartbeat, jaw/left arm pain, black stools, rectal bleeding, severe stomach/abdominal pain. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these rare but very serious side effects occur: easy bleeding/bruising, persistent joint/muscle pain, painful erections. Tell your doctor immediately if you develop symptoms of liver disease, including persistent nausea, stomach/abdominal pain, dark urine, yellowing eyes/skin.
Avatar f tn t know anything about that - all I know is that before Aricept, I was in a gray mist, and after five months of Aricept, everything seemed to make more sense. Before Aricept, it was as if I had low water pressure - I just couldn't get enough juice in my brain to put thoughts together. On Aricept, suddenly my brain could make connections. The only trippy thing I noticed was an almost hi-def moire behind my eyeballs when I went to sleep.
900662 tn?1469390305 After discussion with MS Neuro and my wife , we agreed that I should start Aricept , it is used mostly for Alzheimer, so its off label and he says it has shown great results. I do have a damaged working memory and slower processing speed, cognitive impairment effects every day in some small way. I won't reveal to any other family or friends that I ve stated this med, I just think I would feel self-conscious about people looking for my errors and mistakes.
Avatar m tn I had Mirena inserted for about 2 years. During that time I had tons of mood swings, lack of energy and problems with my skin. I was an emotional wreck and gained 20 lbs with no changes to my diet. It caused issues in my marriage with my moodiness. I finally had it removed and I've been about a year Mirena free. I have lost 15 within the past few months without even trying. It takes a while for the added hormones to leave your body. The weight I added it mostly gone.
Avatar n tn Mild problems: • soreness, redness, tenderness, or swelling where the shot was given • fainting (mainly adolescents) • headache, muscle aches • fever • nausea If these problems occur, they usually begin soon after the shot and last 1-2 days. Severe problems: • Life-threatening allergic reactions to vaccines are very rare. If they do occur, it is usually within a few minutes to a few hours after the shot. If the reaction is severe: What should I look for?

Avatar m tn I would like to know if these are side effects of the meds or if it is possible i have some disease that affects my joints/disks as well as raises my BP?
10777943 tn?1412955415 I have been getting extreme bouts of dizziness and faintness, I have gotten a decent amount of sleep, and eat and had and nd cup of milk about an hour ago... I am 34 weeks...ftm. Tonight I was walking on the treadmill for a short time... and then my vision turned black and I got off and put my head between my legs. What's happening to me?!?!
Avatar f tn I think you should discuss with your PCP regarding a drug called Aricept. This should be started only on prescription of your treating physician. It is used for treatment of Alzheimer’s, but is helpful for short term memory loss. Aricept is a drug of choice to treat Alzheimer's, but its use is not restricted. It has been observed that Aricept improves cognition and function, which includes effects on memory and performing everyday tasks, hence it would have been prescribed.
338416 tn?1420045702 Well, as you all know, I've been taking 5mg of donepezil a day for my cognitive impairment. I'm on #4 today. Interestingly, I feel like I might have had a mini-flare at the beginning of the week (or maybe it was the allergies) - but despite that, my brain feels more 'on.' I'm remembering stuff better, and I'm able to stay on task better. I drove last night, and I felt safer - less distracted, more able to concentrate on driving.
Avatar m tn t give me any unpleasant side-effects, in fact during that time, up through the end of 2007 I was still jogging 3 miles at about 10 minutes per mile, and in my early 60s. AFib, which I currently in, makes it impossible for me to engage in such vigorous activities.
Avatar f tn My husband has been taking 10mg of Aricept for 2 years now and I have not noticed any significant difference in his memory. Actually, my observation is his memory is becoming worse. I'm struggling with whether I should discontinue the medication since I don't see improvement and because it is quite costly. I also know Aricept is designed to slow down the dementia so if I discontinue it I'm wondering if he will become worse much faster.
704043 tn?1298056844 Hey, I took Aricept for five months to get over some cog fog. It was amazing, and kinda reassuring. I started with some samples, and noticed a difference immediately - I could follow directions, count change, remember conversations... Every time I ran out, I would wait a day or so and see if I noticed a difference. After five months, I reached a point where I felt normal without the Aricept - yay! I highly recommend it.
Avatar f tn I have been taking aricept for about 9 months. It is hard to tell if there is an improvement. It has been a while since I forgot my way home but I still forget a lot of little stuff. I keep taking it because I am convinced it cant hurt anything and it just might help a little.
