aricept

Avatar n tn This should be started only on prescription of your treating physician. It is used for treatment of Alzheimer’s, but is helpful for short term memory loss. Aricept is a drug of choice to treat Alzheimer's, but its use is not restricted. It has been observed that Aricept improves cognition and function, which includes effects on memory and performing everyday tasks, hence it would have been prescribed. The effect of memory is exerted through one such chemical called acetylcholine.
Avatar f tn She has moderate to severe short term memory loss and has been started on Aricept. She has also recently had an MRI of the brain. Could you explain: "moderate diffuse cerebral atrophy and chronic white matter small vessel disease"? Thank you!
Avatar n tn However, I personally know about Aricept because I tried it for tardive dyskinesia and had a pretty poor response. My grandfather was prescribed Aricept for age related memory loss after a cardiovascular impairment. He couldn't tolerate it either. That doesn't mean at all its the wrong medication generally. Its just it has a fair amount of side effects for some people. But as anti-Parkinsonian medications can cause depression and other personality alterations that might be the one.
Avatar f tn s due to also having EDS. However I have been suffering terribly for over 5 years with severe short term memory loss & was even put on Aricept (usually used for Alzheimer's) about 5 years ago & have become increasingly severly depressed. I seem to be resistant to all or most anit-depressants, years of therapy & more.
500374 tn?1210071413 However, I struggle with cognitive issues such as attention deficiency, short-term memory loss and inability to multi-task. Everything I've read about mid-brain strokes only mentions the physical long term effects. Is there anyone out there who is experiencing cognitive issues from this type of stroke?...or has anyone seen any information online that addresses this?
1339419 tn?1275966042 My short term memory is not 100% as it is, although it is not as bad as my long term memory, and when my blood pressure is really high ( 160/100+ ) I seem to have short term memory loss that increases with the increasing blood pressure numbers. Is this a direct side effect of high blood pressure, others with hypertension having suggested it effects their short term memory, or is it confined only to myself because of my memory problems?
649926 tn?1297657780 I think out of all the drugs out there, Aricept is the best one for strictly cognitive problems. I've been taking it for four (five?) months now, and I've definitely noticed improvements in my short term memory and attention span. I feel safer driving to work, and I can remember phone numbers and keep track of change at the grocery store. The only real side effect I've noticed is long, vivid, but boring dreams.
Avatar m tn are there any products on the market that can help short term memory loss that are safe and work as well as they claim?
Avatar n tn He has been experiencing short-term memory loss for the past 3 years. This spring, my mom took him to the doctor for a series of tests. They conducted an MRI to check for tumors or a possible stroke. They also conducted an initial screening for Alzheimers and dementia. Everything came back clear. The doctors agreed that there is some short-term memory loss but not enough to warrant medication.

Avatar f tn s not too much of a problem for me. I accept the unwanted side-effects for the benefits received. Short term memory loss at your age sounds odd, Get it checked out asp. Try not to worry meanwhile. Memory is precious, long term seems to stay intact when the short term goes in my case.

Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with MS almost 2 years ago and have noticed much more frequent, severe mood swings. I am beginning to have more short term memory loss as well. However, there are times where I feel as though I can do anything and not need sleep. I am not being treated with steroids, and do daily injections of Copaxone. Are these mood swings and memory issues somehow related or located in the same area of the brain? Would taking Namenda and Aricept together help?
