Common Questions and Answers about Aricept and heart block

aricept

Avatar f tn t know anything about that - all I know is that before Aricept, I was in a gray mist, and after five months of Aricept, everything seemed to make more sense. Before Aricept, it was as if I had low water pressure - I just couldn't get enough juice in my brain to put thoughts together. On Aricept, suddenly my brain could make connections. The only trippy thing I noticed was an almost hi-def moire behind my eyeballs when I went to sleep.
649926 tn?1297657780 Hi! Thanks for the info on Aricept. I have a few days left until I see the Doctor and I guess Aricept is the front runner. Of course she may not be willing to give me anything, but I am pretty sure that she will once we talk. If anyone has scoop on their experience with Aricept or any other cognition helping drug please take a minute to chime in.
338416 tn?1420045702 I asked for a script for Aricept, got it, and was on that for three months. It felt very much like the Aricept gave my brain enough 'power' to jump over the holes. After a while, it was more like the brain knew how to navigate around the holes.
Avatar f tn My husband has been taking 10mg of Aricept for 2 years now and I have not noticed any significant difference in his memory. Actually, my observation is his memory is becoming worse. I'm struggling with whether I should discontinue the medication since I don't see improvement and because it is quite costly. I also know Aricept is designed to slow down the dementia so if I discontinue it I'm wondering if he will become worse much faster.
Avatar n tn my mum was diagnosed with alzaheimer in October 2008, she was prescriped dogmatile fort 200, aricept, trittico and lustral, I wonder if this combination goes well as she is more depessed since she took the medication.
704043 tn?1298056844 Hey, I took Aricept for five months to get over some cog fog. It was amazing, and kinda reassuring. I started with some samples, and noticed a difference immediately - I could follow directions, count change, remember conversations... Every time I ran out, I would wait a day or so and see if I noticed a difference. After five months, I reached a point where I felt normal without the Aricept - yay! I highly recommend it.
Avatar m tn If a person has not been diagnosed with alzheimers but is taking aricept, is it okay? will it hurt to be taking it?
Avatar m tn Teh next visit was a new Dr and I asked him about the EKG. He said I had heart block but it was nothing to worry about. I was so shocked by that name that I didn't say anything. Now I guess I should ask him for details because I have huge anxiety issues. This is just adding to them. Recently I have been feeling lousy. I sweat even with just housework. But sometimes I don't. I had some odd Thyroid numbers recently also but they have improved.
Avatar f tn He had a 30 day monitor on because of heart racing/ palpitations. His dr did a stress test and his heart rate went immediately to 154, and when he was at rest it didn't go below 130. The dr just sent us for bloodwork...Epeniphrine & NorEpeniphrine levels . He also has a bluish tint to his lower legs and forearms with white spots-when I pointed this out to his cardiologist she said "oh".

754107 tn?1233668478 Hi, I was diagnosed over the last week with heart block, at least type II; I was lucky that I already have a pacemaker implanted. If anyone has any experience with heart block I would greatly appreciate any input on related topics. I have long-term chronic afib with a few ablation surgeries but this is a new diagnosis based on an EKG during a few days I spent in the hospital due to the symptoms feeling different than usual.
Avatar n tn It has been observed that Aricept improves cognition and function, which includes effects on memory and performing everyday tasks, hence it would have been prescribed. The effect of memory is exerted through one such chemical called acetylcholine. This chemical helps carry messages from nerve cell to nerve cell in the brain. Memory is lost by disrupting these messages between cells. It is thought that Aricept may help reduce the breakdown of this chemical. Hope this helps. Bye.
338416 tn?1420045702 ) I asked him for a prescription for Aricept, and he seemed a little annoyed. He said that there are no real clinical trials to prove the effectiveness of Aricept on mild cognitive impairment, and that it would be a waste of time. I'm not sure he understands the results of the exam. I'm moderately impaired in a few specific areas. Average it out, and I'm in the 'mild' category. But at any rate, I talked him into giving me a month's worth of Aricept.
338416 tn?1420045702 Boy, Jen, this is difficult. Can you possibly contact whoever makes Aricept, and also the Shared Solutions people, and see if they can work something out for you? They may well have new programs that reflect our economic hard times. Even though you have prescription insurance, if the co-pay is too high, it's too high, period.
Avatar f tn I have periodic heart block episodes when at rest (and asleep) and these include feelings of an irregular heart beat, bradycardia, and sometimes (but not always) light-headedness, lowish BP (eg 95/50), and uneasiness. I was told that no treatment was needed. I caught the heartblock episodes on a 30-day event monitor earlier in the year and at that point they happened every few days and only lasted a few mins w/ bradycardia heart rates in the low 50's.
Avatar m tn The underlying cause was lack of adequate blood flow to a section of the heart and that impaired heart wall movement (hypokinesis) and the hypokinesis reduced the force to adequately contract and pump blood into circulation. My therapy has reduced the heart size, revitialized heart cells, and the ejection fraction has returned to normal. My LAD is totally blocked as well, but the body system can compensate by developing collateral vessels to feed into the deficit areas, etc.
Avatar f tn A good idea would be to find out if they interract together well, does your wife have any side effects if she feels okay then dont rock the boat,The pharmasist at your drug store may be able to help telling you more, he will put them in hisPC to check.
Avatar f tn However, my mother was diagnosed with 3rd degree AV heart block and had a pacemaker put in at 33 years old. She was also adopted and we recently discovered her birth family in which these of her biological uncles passed away from heart conditions and one biological sister recently had surgery for a valve issue. Should I be worried? What symptoms should I be aware of to look for? I've never had any fainting spells or anything like that (like my mother did).
Avatar m tn I have just been put on a monitor for 7 days having been diagnosed with Intermittent heart block, naturally this has made me more sensitive to being breathless or dizzy. However, there is also the issue of the "red car syndrome". You know how it is; you buy a red car and every car you see on the road seems to be red. So I am more aware of any variations in how I feel at any moment in time.
1635396 tn?1301883247 The diagnosis was made about 7 years ago and I take a nitrate for some blockage of other vessels and never have had an associated symptoms, and the heart is now normal size and functioning normally (except for a mitral valve) and I feel well. I take the nitrate prior to going to the health center to prevent some chest pain (angina) with my exercise routine. You should be all right with the medciation.
Avatar n tn Have you had any syncopal episodes because of it? This type of heart block is usually benign and often requires no treatment unless the symptoms are severe. Type I second-degree heart block is generally treated by addressing any underlying conditions that are contributing to it. Temporary pacing and/or medication (e.g., atropine) may be required if the heartbeat is too slow, but a permanent pacemaker is generally not necessary unless the condition worsens.
Avatar n tn ve read that 2nd degree, type 2 can eventually become 3rd degree and a complete heart block. Complete heart block can cause sudden cardiac death. That is why I agreed to the pacemaker implant. If I were you, I'd get a 2nd opinion from another Cardiac Electro Physiologist to confirm your 2nd degree, type 2 diagnosis and also whether or not he recommends a pacemaker implant.
