Avatar n tn In some cases proteinuria may be present before surgery in case of appendicitis. In case there has been urinary tract infection during this period, this could be the cause for proteinuria. I would suggest that you get a workup done for this for early initiation of treatment. Best.
Avatar n tn My sons girlfriend has been admitted to hospital in the early hours of this morning with abdominal pains and sickness, They are testing for both appendicitis and ovarian cysts She is only 18 and I thought it was over 40 that cysts occured. I am looking to reassure a very frightened girl.
Avatar f tn Omgosh! A few years ago i had appendicitis and had to have surgery however i was very early in my pregnancy. I was so scared but my baby girl was born healthy and fine. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your baby tomorrow.
Avatar m tn Expectations (prognosis) If your appendix is removed before it ruptures, you will likely get well very soon after surgery. If your appendix ruptures before surgery, you will probably recover more slowly, and are more likely to develop an abscess or other complications.
Avatar n tn CT gave me the answer that I was looking for....appendicitis. A few hours later and I was out of surgery. As far as the central stomach pains, I was told by the ER Dr. that appendicitis often causes central upper abdominal pain......
Avatar f tn now i am developing the same pain again after about 20 hours, so i want to ask can it be appendicitis even if ultrasound doesnt show it? one of my friend got operated last month, she was having the same pain but ultrasound didnt show anything even then she got operated n now is fine!
Avatar f tn m surprised your doctor just gave you drugs for an appendicitis-- true appendicitis almost always needs surgery. Have you had your appendix looked at since then? Ask for an ultrasound or a colonoscopy. In some really rare cases, an infected appendix can lead to infection elsewhere in your abdomen/pelvis, including muscles outside your digestive tract (which might explain the pain when running).
Avatar m tn Hey just had Acute appendicitis and had to have emergency surgery to remove appendix. Now I had a lump under my skin just above my elbow that is below my skin. it seems as though it is attached to my vein or just by the muscle. It does not hurt but I am worried sick it could be something serious.
Avatar n tn I am doing a little research on gallbladder removal & appendicitis association. Except for a couple of articles not much so far. Both that I did find indicated a fairly high frequency of appendicitis within 18 months of gallbladder removal. Hopefully, they are wrong, I have about 6 months to go.
Avatar n tn When I had appendecitis I woke up in pain with a lot of abdominal pressure and was admitted for surgery that day. It felt like I was really constipated or something (sorry TMI), and was nauseous. It sounds like the pain you are having is more likely related to the pcos. I have had ovarian cysts in the past and it felt a lot like what you are describing. I'm not an expert, just my personal experience.
Avatar f tn White count was high and X-ray showed probable appendicitis. Admitted to hospital and CT was done. No appendicitis but a 6mm Appendicolith was found and referral to general surgery next week.

Avatar n tn I have recently been experiencing right side pain and mentioned it to my GP. He sent me for a CT which confirmed mild appendicitis. Don't have typical appendicitis symptoms other than pain and some nausea. My doc says to get it taken out. I went for a consult with a general surgeon and he said he isn't 100% that's my appendix since I don't have all the acute symptoms. He said there is no such thing as chronic appendicitis and my doc says "oh yes there is". UGH...
Avatar m tn The only way to know for sure what is wrong is to go to the doctor and have an MRI or CT scan. That will give them a better idea of what is going on. No one can know for sure what is going on, but that will give them a better idea.
Avatar m tn Most people with appendicitis have severe pain worse than what we usually get with IBS. Although, as you must know by now, you can get severe enough pain from IBS to even keep you from being able to walk. You can get IBS pain anywhere in the abdomen, and the left side where the descending colon is, is typically the most common area of pain. I have had the pain in the area you are talking about. Two things can be going on that are more likely, if the doctor is sure it's not the appendix.
Avatar n tn It was early stage appendicitis. The next day after surgery I was feeling expected pain where the incisions were. I took Norco painkiller. After a couple of days I noticed high heart rate when lying down, couple of times it grew so uncomfortable that I had to walk around a bit to feel comfortable. This has been now going on for almost 5 days and I feel almost perfect during the day, but when laying down at night and sometimes even getting up in the morning, it is disturbing.
Avatar m tn I am 65 years old and had a total hysterectomy in 2007 because I had endomentrial cancer. I have no uterus and no ovaries. The surgery was a surgical cure and I didn't require any additional treatment. I have recently been experiencing menstrual cramping. It feels just like the onset of a period. I have also been taking 1 tsp. psyllium husk in water daily for about 6 months now,. just to inrease my fiber intake. What could it be ??????????
471949 tn?1236904026 Well, there's no chance of seeing a specialist at the VA. My prime care physician refuses to refer me any specialist! And in the VA that is the only way you get to see one. And also in the VA you can't change prime care providers. The entire system is horrible.
Avatar n tn Hello, I am an otherwise healthy 39-year old male I would say, a bit of a hypochondriac I would say, hence this post …Back in 2004 I had surgery for appendicitis and after my surgery the strangest thing happened….The center-outer part of my left thigh started burning.
Avatar n tn If it turns out to be that, surgery will be needed to remove the appendix. If appendicitis is ruled out, then it could be any number of things. But please do get him checked immediately if he hasn't been already. An appendix that is infected can rupture, or break open, into the abdominal cavity - which is a serious situation (I know, because it happened to me when I was 15 years old). Hope this helps!
5154898 tn?1374773319 OK, I've been worried sick since about 4 days ago. It all started when i had a muscle spasm beside my belly button (right side), it lasted a whole day. I woke up the next day with a dull pain in the same spot, nothing really painful, just enough to worry me. Now, my lower front (right side), my right side and back on the right side has been aching.
Avatar f tn Exactly 4 weeks later I developed appendicitis and had it removed via laparoscopic surgery, the surgeon said it was "messy in there". I have had no other symptoms suggestive of HIV. My concern is the appendicitis was due to lymphoid hyperplasia (swollen lymph tissue) caused from a viral infection (HIV) given it occurred so soon after exposure. It seems a bit out there to consider them related however I do see it as a possibility, but was unable to find any studies to confirm.
Avatar n tn Last week I suffered from appendicitis and my doctor cured me by administering antibiotics. Now have a relief the inflamation is gone. But from today morning I am suffering pain in the groin area which is similar to the pain I suffered for appendicitis I wanted to know that is the pain caused by Fungal infection or medicinal reaction which was provided for appendicitis. I have not experienced similar pain in groin area before and there is no blister or rashes.
Avatar f tn I am sorry to hear about your niece. Did the doctor give her parents a briefing after her surgery? Did they do a frozen section during her surgery to look for malignancy? The final pathology can take a week or more to be complete. Any complex ovarian cyst has a chance of being cancer. It is unlikely to be a malignancy, given her age. Her parents should ask the doctor any questions or concerns. Usually, conceiving is not a problem with one ovary.
Avatar n tn I am in my 19th week and got diagnosed with appendicitis 2 days ago. Did some labs and the results show I have inflammation going on. Am scheduled for an appendectomy and was told not to worry because precautions would be taken not hurt the baby. I was also informed that they would do some procedure to calm the baby down the night before the surgery. I am yet to know what kind of procedure it is they are talking about. My og/gyn is working with the surgeon on my case.
