Common Questions and Answers about Appendicitis in pregnancy ppt

appendicitis

Avatar f tn I have a 7 month old son and my thyroid is way out of whack. Because of my somewhat recent pregnancy my endo seems to think that I have PPT. I have researched this and PPT goes from hyper to hypo and I thought if this was the case with my sons age I would be in the hypo stage by now....also I have no inflammation which I'm pretty sure would be required for a thyroidITIS diagnosis.
Avatar n tn If the TSH is lower on the same dose, it may be worth cutting the dose in half and re-evaluating in 5-6 weeks regarding if you need the medication. If more pregnancies are planned, would continue with at least some medication until done w/ reproduction.
Avatar f tn I would assume that your high TPOab count would increase the chances of your having postpartum thyroiditis. PPT is a condition in which you are hyperthyroid for a period of time after delivery (can occur as much as 6 months postpartum), then you become hypo and eventually go back to "normal" (most of the time).
Avatar n tn Round ligament pain or gas. I actually had them check for appendicitis for me in my first pregnancy as well because it hurt but as long as they say baby is looking healthy, it sounds pretty normal!

Avatar n tn I am at the early stages of PPT (I also have postpartum anxiety) my endocrinologist put me on Tapazole 2 weeks ago. I have a mild soar throat but I believe it's merely the remnants of a cold. However, I am losing an insane amount of hair, above the average hair loss due to postpartum. Is this the combo of thyroid, meds and postpartum... I'm on tapazole 10mg daily dose. Is there something I can do? I had my blood work done on Friday and WBC was normal... does it fluctuate easily?

Avatar m tn You may have postpartum thyroiditis (PPT). PPT is considered a "temporary"/self-resolving thyroiditis. It usually starts with a hyper phase, followed by a return to normal and then a hypo phase. However, many women only experience the hypo or the hyper, not both. TSI (thyroid stimulating immunoglobulin) is the antibody marker for Graves'. If you have that tested, and it's elevated, you'll know you have Graves'.
Avatar f tn You could have Hashi's, but it's more likely you have postpartum thyroiditis. PPT is a variant of Hashi's, but many people recover from it on their own. It usually presents as an initial hyper phase, followed by a return to normal and a hypo phase, although some people only experience one of the phases. Your FT4 is only 29% of range, which is low of the 50% target. Many of us found FT4 had to be about 50% before our symptoms were relieved.
Avatar n tn You have mentioned that you were diagnosed with appendicitis. Was an appendectomy done? In this case I would suggest that an abdominal ultrasound may be done to ascertain the cause of the pain. A baseline urinalyis and urine culture may also be helpful to determine if infections or urinary tract stones may be present. I do not think the fungal infection has been causing the pain. Unless the area is swollen and severely infected the tenderness may be noted when the skin is palpated.
Avatar f tn insisting to reach your dream of having a baby, sure this day is waiting u,when the test gives PPT,iam now beginning my 7th pregnancy month having twins after a succeded trial of IVF.
Avatar f tn So you don't think it could be a first trimester pregnancy pain. I know I'm pregnant I've already been to the doctor I just figured it was my body adjusting.
Avatar n tn m glad to read that I am not the only one with Thyroid issues! I am the proud mother of a new baby girl who is now 4 months old and I suffer from PPT, I had it with my first child and now I new the signs I acted fast and saw my endo. The problem is that I've been prescribed Tapazole to help me with the hyper stage until hypo sets in, and honestly, I'm really scared to take the medication. The list of side effects seem pretty severe. Is this the best process for me to take.
Avatar f tn Bare with me on my novel.. Shortly after the birth of my fourth child ( August 2009 ) I began having frightening symptoms. I would feel very hot, shaky and had terrible anxiety, I really thought I was dieing. Serious!!. I also suffered terrible dizzy spells, confusion and a real lack of concentration. I actually forgot about cookies baking in the oven one day! This was really only a few of my worst symptoms.

Avatar n tn Has your doctor diagnosed post partum thyroiditis (PPT)? Your TPOab is somewhat elevated, which usually indicates PPT. It's considered a variant of Hashimoto's thyroiditis, which is autoimmune thyroid disease and the most prevalent cause of hypo in the developed world. PPT is usually a temporary condition characterized by an initial hyper phase, a brief return to normal and then a hypo phase. Hashi's, except in its very early stages, usually causes hypothyroidism.
363110 tn?1340920419 Well I'm almost 10w post op, and have not gotten a period at all, recently I've had TONS of creamy CM (like in early pregnancy). We've been careful each and every time, and I am recovering from a csection so I'm just curious to see how many of you have gone 9 or 10w without AF after baby? I am NOT breast feeding so I'd think that AF would've shown her ugly face anytime recently. A pregnancy test a few days ago was BFN, and we do NOT want another baby right now.

231441 tn?1333892766 My obe was insisting they proceed with surgery (she said in pregnancy the rule is if in doubt go with surgery) and though the surgeon was reluctant he was being convinced. They decided on Wed night that I would have surgery on Thursday. Thursday morning my Filipino Mum came in and raised hell. Why wasn't there a gastroenterologist on my team and why wasn't my endocrinologist on the team and didn't they know I was high risk and complicated?
5670884 tn?1374749288 My sister had appendicitis when she was pregnant. If the pain doesn't go away after a while, look up the symptoms of appendicitis and see if that sounds possible, and if so go to the doc.
Avatar f tn If you’re female, a pelvic exam will be done to determine the exact location of your pain and to rule out PID, ovarian cyst, or an ectopic pregnancy (a pregnancy outside of the uterus, usually in the fallopian tube.) Complications The most serious complication of appendicitis is an infection of the lining of your abdominal cavity, this is called peritonitis. Peritonitis is a medical emergency!!!
Avatar f tn Monitor your syptoms cause nausea, back pain, pain on right side and bloating r also symptoms of appendicitis.
