When you have pain like that, you have to get to the ER. Are you more terrified of a burst appendix than a hospital? You probably should be because one is there to help you and the other can have serious consequences. Bite the bullet and get to the ER to be checked out. They will take an x ray.
Welcome to the gastroenterology community! This really doesn't sounds like an appendicitis. It sounds like you are having some constipation which can be caused by reduced exercise from straining your muscles. I would recommend increasing your fiber intake, your intake of fruits and vegetables, and your intake of water.
It hurts to walk and I must sit down with great care, I have performed some of the tests for appendicitis such as lying supine with my right leg bent and pushing over to the left...this results in much pain. Having been an EMT for many years I understand this could be appendicitis, however, I am confused about the pain free lapses. I live in the middle of no where with poor hospitals about 2 and a half hours away.
Perhaps the most facinating part of this episode is that it was one year ago that I suffered what was then diagnosed by experienced medical personnel as probable appendicitis. It also occurred at the end of a long and stressful motorhome trip from western New York to the Florida Key and was treated (at my insistence) with massive anitbiotice and no surgery. The only difference was that last year the pain and inflammation was 10 times greater, with constipation and no appetite whatsoever.
One thing that I will like to say is that sometimes diagnosis of appendicitis is tough because of the position of the appendix and other conditions which may mimic appendicitis like Meckel’s diverticulitis,inflammatory bowel disease and kidney diseases.
Moreover,other conditions which I have mentioned like irritable bowel syndrome,inflammatory bowel disease(Crohn’s disease) and kidney diseases also have to be excluded.
Others are irritable bowel syndrome(irregular bowel movements of constipation and diarrhea along with the pain and nausea are there), Crohn's disease(Crohn's disease most commonly affects the last part of the small intestine, usually located in the right lower abdomen) ,kidney infections, intestinal obstruction, mesenteric occlusion or enteritis.
Without examaintion and investigations like an ultrasound and CT scan abdomen,diagnosis is tough.
Gyno said she did not feel anything on my ovary, thought it might be an UTI. Seeing a urologist and so far sounds as if this is not the case. Urine coming back negative for bacteria. These pains come and go without any reason. Its not always there. But I read a story of a lady who's first sign of colon cancer was sciatic pain. My bowel movements seem pretty normal. Any loose stool or constipation resolves itself in a day. I do have hemorrhoids from giving birth to my kids.
Okay so I'm 18 years old, female. The past few days I had slight diarrhea type bowel movements as well as having the urge to gag. Like if I eat food I can't eat the entire thing without feeling like I ate too much and I have to gag. Or if I see something that's visually disturbing I feel that way. But I was never like that before.
And then one day (a day ago) I got bloated and I heard a lot of gurgling in my intestines which I think was gas.
4. Appendicitis goes with nausea, vomiting and raised leukocytes in the blood. Appendicitis is painfull at any time you press on area. Bouncing sign is present: lye down on the back and press deeply sopmewhere on your lower LEFT abdomen, then release the pressure quickly. In peritonitis or appendicitis you should feel a sharp pain on the LRQ area. Peritonitis would also show marked inflammation in the blood.
pain in the right of my belly, which migrated in the LRQ after about 2 weeks, bloating, pain in the right side during bowel movements, right leg gets a little numb sometimes. Did a CT scan 1 month ago, it revealed an ovarian cyst of 3.5 cm on my right and a 5 cm one on my left. The pain on my right is persistent and the symptoms are really bad for such a small cyst. My gynecologist didn't give me many explanations, so I've searched for my simptoms online.
Could adhesions cause temporary impingement on the bowel causing severe pain and constipation that spontaneously goes away in 1-2 days? Previous surgeries include hysterectomy and abdominal radiation for uterine cancer 40+ years ago, gallbladder surgery 30+ years ago and colon resection for cancer 10 years ago.
It all started after I passed a large bowel movement that was accompanied by bright red blood. I have been diagnosed with hemorrhoids so seeing blood in my stool was not that shocking, what was shocking was that it was a lot more blood than usual. After that my stomach started hurt badly like cramps and a couple of hours later it become notable in the belly button area. The pain feels like it is deep in my stomach and it is constant, I am very bloated and burp all the time.
Hi, appendicitis as such is more of a clinical diagnosis. In chronic appendicitis what we see may just be thickening of the bowel wall or appendix on a CT scan. But usually the image findings are correlated with clinical symptoms and blood tests. If an acute infection the neutrophils are raised and if due to tuberculosis, the lymphocytes are raised in blood counts.
like a gas moving around or a bowel movement yet no real need to pass gas or use the bathroom. It can also be compared to a feeling of fullness, like after a big meal, yet localized in a small area of my abdomen (lower-right side 2 inches to the right of my belly button).
For the past few days I've had pain right above my hip but its not severe and i don't have any other symptoms but I'm very scared right now because i think i have appendicitis i don't want surgery...my mom who is a nurse said that it cannot be that because the pain i describe isn't severe and that i should lay off the coffee that i drink.
I had diarrhoea on one day but my bowel movements seem to be back to normal now, although it does feel hard to pass gas and I do need to strain to pass a bowel movement.
The abdominal pains peaked about 3 days ago - the pain woke me in the night. Since then (i.e. in the last 2 days) I have cheered up as the pains have got much less worse. My fever has gone and I felt much better.
The navel is tender to the touch. I have had a normal bowel movements. I am a heavy coffee drinker and after drinking it, I often have to go to the bathroom right away. In the past, I have had a discharge from my navel but that is not the case at this time. Also, I have had a colonoscopy that failed to find any problems. Can this be colonitis? Diverticulitis? Any suggestions? Thanks.
Nurse followed up by telling me to take miraLAX because I was just backed up. I had 3 bowel movements between 6pm Thursday and Friday at 5am when I woke up (the day I visited the ER). And have gone frequently since. Now over 30 hours later I have diarrhea. Could it still be appendicitis? I have almost no pain, just a little pressure on the right side. I’m just worried of an appendix rupture.
