Avatar n tn Tagament (cimetidine) is in a class of heartburn medications called H2 receptor blockers. These are a special type of antihistamine which are more effective in the stomach, but they do have some effect on systemic allergic reactions. I have heard of using ranitidine for this purpose more frequently. You may want to talk to her doctor about supplementing the Allegra with benadryl when she starts itching.
Avatar n tn I recently started using a new body wash, and after a couple of days 4-5 uses, I started to develop a rash all over my body which is accompanied by extreme itching. I've since stopped using the body wash and switched back to soap. I've also started using benadryll to relieve the itching. It's been a few days but the rash hasn't started to go away yet. How long does it usually take for the skin to clear up, and are there any other treatments for it?
Avatar f tn not life or death type allergies, but sneezing, itchy nose and eyes, headaches. I take a one a day antihistamine to deal with it. .. but it says on the box not to take if pregnant. Im only 7 weeks, and have stopped taking them... but my allergies are horrible at the moment. All the sneezing is not helping with my morning sickness. Avatar f tn My head feels so groggy, my dizziness increases and my overall feeling ill gets worse. What I do, is take an antihistamine and it seems to help or at least reduce the effects. High humidity for me is the worse, extreme heat also affects me, now - I live in Canada so winter is fast approaching and when it is humid and cold I get hives instead of the other symptoms. I only have treated with the antihistamines but would like to see what everyone else does to cope.
Avatar f tn My three year old son drinks a lot, uses the restroom quite frequently, and says he's really tired a lot here recently. What is a normal blood sugar for someone his age? And could he possibly have diabetes? He has a family history of both type 1 & 2 diabetes on both sides. He isn't losing any weight and plays as normal.
Avatar n tn Apply calamine lotion at the site of the lesions and see if it helps. You could take some oral antihistamine medications like cetrizine or loratadine. You need to maintain a good personal hygiene . Anti-itch drugs, often antihistamine, may reduce the itch during a flare up of eczema, and the reduced scratching in turn reduces damage and irritation to the skin. For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid may be used (e.g.
612551 tn?1450022175 I find relief taking Tylenol-type pain killer and an antihistamine, store brand Benadryl D. It has been this way for a couple of days, so I post as it isn't just going away. I think it possible the last time I had a similar condition it took more that a couple of days to correct itself. I have never consulted a doctor on this symptom as it is rare but now I see repeats/returns.
612551 tn?1450022175 I had prior to the vet visit above been given Wilson one half Benedryl 25 mg Antihistamine morning and evening, in the hope it would clear up the paw problem. A couple weeks of this did not produce any improvement. I then checked and saw recommendations to use 1 - 2 mg per pound. As Wilson is j20+ pounds my does level was low. I have decided to continue giving him Benadryl but now one 25 mg capsule morning and night. Hope it keeps his paws and general itch problems under control.

Avatar n tn You can take some OTC oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps. For mild-moderate symptoms a weak steroid may be used (e.g. hydrocortisone as dermacort), whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid (e.g. clobetasol propionate, fluocinonide). These dry rashes can be exacerbated by dryness of the skin. Use good quality moisturizers to prevent moisture loss from the skin.

Avatar n tn My boyfriend is complaining of an under-the-skin-prompted itch/irritation after having sex. It is not visable at all. This just started a couple weeks ago but we've been seeing each other many months. He's blaming me although I have no STDs, no irritations, rash, itch, pain or anything wrong on my "end." When he uses a condom he says the irritation moves up to his scrotum. Did he somehow become allergic to me? Wouldn't that have happened sooner?
Avatar m tn Mac, eosinophils are not normally found in the esophagus. The problem you have was more typically found in children, but is now being found more and more often in adults, too. Avatar m tn If the medications do not work, it is best that you inform her doctor for proper management. A change in medication or dosage may be indicated. With children, it is indeed difficult to avoid scratching but this can lead to secondary bacterial infection also. An over-the-counter antihistamine may also help provide relief. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn t have insurance, and the nurse practitioner just used the little light thing that a doc uses to peer into my eyes. She asked if I had vision loss or blurring, and I told her no. She thought it could be allergies, said to take drops.. but I don't know for sure which ones. I am trying decongestant and antihistamine at bedtime in cased sinus is secretly the problem. I am worried ...and the eyes don't itch or water like they have in the past with allergies that I would take drops for.
Avatar m tn don't we mothers who stayed in horrible marriages ever realize that we do it out of inadequacies in ourselves rather than for our children and that"s why _maybe_ our children became angry and estranged from us???
