Common Questions and Answers about Antihistamine cream urticaria

antihistamine

Avatar m tn It is defined as urticaria that persists for longer than 6 weeks. In most of the cases of chronic urticaria, the underlying pathology is idiopathic i.e. it is not linked to any cause. It is essential to rule out the presence of serious illnesses of which recurring hives can be a symptom. Examples are hepatitis, hyperthyroidism, lymphomas, collagen vascular diseases, and cancers of the rectum, kidneys and gastrointestinal tract.
Avatar m tn I'm totally baffled at what this might be on my hand. Every once in a while, 2-4 times a week, I get a rash at random on my right hand between my thumb and index finger. Sometimes it extends over the top of my hand, sometimes it does not. Sometimes it itches, sometimes it does not. I used to be allergic to everything but I'm not anymore. In past experiences with allergic reactions, a shower and some cream would do the trick. I've tried this approach to no avail.
Avatar m tn I used Hydrocortisone Cream USP 2.5% and a All Day Allergy pill 10 mg. The pill seems to be helping as I feel better. But I can't help scratching it. It is on my arms, legs, back, upper chest, and ears. But I am still not sure if it is getting better. Please help ASAP!
Avatar f tn Take antihistamines like Claritin or Zyrtec to get symptom relief. Sedating antihistamine such as Benadryl is used usually at night to get urticaria control. Short courses of oral cortisone or steroids are taken for short periods (one to three days) to settle more severe symptoms. Also apply calamine on the rashes. You may take Vitamin C along with the prescribed treatment. Vitamin C is a general anti-allergy supplement.
Avatar n tn I get it even when no socks or stockings or pants are touching it. I have a prescription cortisone cream which my general practictioner doctor said is not the strongest. The cream relieves somewhat but does not cure. I think it flared originally when I started taking antibiotics for sinus infection but my doctor says impossible. The problem persisted even when I was taking prednisone. I also started a new nasal spray, flonase. How do I find out what causes this?
Avatar f tn Hello, Hives (medically known as urticaria) are red, itchy, raised areas of skin that appear in varying shapes and sizes. They have a tendency to change size rapidly and to move around, disappearing in one place and reappearing in other places, often in a matter of hours. Many cases of hives are "idiopathic," meaning no cause is known. Others may be triggered by viral infections or medications.
Avatar f tn 21F, in 2022 I started developing urticaria around springtime and it progressively got worse, with it eventually being almost everywhere except my face and head but now mostly relegated to my crotch and shoulder. I had severe hives on the inside of my thighs and shoulder, inside of my elbows and armpits. Nothing on my crotch, it's just itchy.
800691 tn?1239759780 I went to see my doctor after I noticed that they were spreading. She told me they were just bites and gave me a steroid cream called Westcort and it seems to be worsening rather than improving. The itching is intense and is literally distracting me from the rest of my life. I have washed my sheets and always wear clean clothes. I have not changed soaps, detergents or started any new meds. I can't seem to figure out what is causing this. Not, to mention...
Avatar n tn I also notice that when I go out at night, the next morning the hives appear to get worse and the only thing that is helpful is an antihistamine pill. Can someone please offer any suggestions or anything to help me?
Avatar n tn I went to my Internist who prescriped 2 creams. Voltaren Gel 1% is 1 of the creams and the other cream is Triamcinolone Acetonide 0.025% After using the creams for 1 1/2 days my neck and face is worse. The burning got worse and I have big round red blotches on my cheeks with scaling rough skin with patches. It still itches and I reuse to use the creams again. I am supposed to use these creams a few times a day. I did that the first 2 days.
Avatar f tn Next time when itching start take an antihistamine pill (like Benadryl). If this will help you, it means you have physical urticaria (allergy to heat in your case).
