can jock itch move to your penis? i have had it for months now and can only keep it under control w powder, not get rid of it. when i have sex w/my girlfriend, afterwards my penis gets red, raw and gets little cracking in the skin right under the head of my penis, some small amount of itching. has the jock itch moved to my penis or is this something else? i might add there are no sores or anything like that. it seems to heal and only get raw after sex.
herpes won't just cause itching. you were on antibiotics, it is probably just jock itch and you can treat that with otc products. if you think it's more than jock itch, be seen again for a work up.

So the itch came after the antibiotics? It could be a mild yeast infection or jock itch, which is really common after antibiotic use.

at this point after antibiotics, you might even have a yeast infection issue causing you irritation. why not try an otc jock itch treatment cream for a week or so and see how that works?
I was diagnosed with jock itch back in october 09. the rash has since gone away but there is a constant dull rug burn type sensation on the left side of scrotum and occassionally penis. the sensation ceases after urinating. The symptoms are suggestive of Jock itch. Jock itch shows up in post-adolescent men and hormonal changes during puberty, lifestyle and heredity each play a role. Predisposing fungal disease like tines cruris may also aggravate it.
Wash your groin daily and then dry thoroughly by pat drying, not rubbing. A hairdryer is useful if you have hairy groins. The damp groin is an ideal site for fungi to multiply.

Though it is called jock itch, it may not itch always. Usually a reddish rash or area of darkened or tanned skin appears on penis/scrotum/groin fold/adjacent thighs. This is often accompanied by a burning or tingling sensation.
Also the diagnosis of jock itch appears to be correct since the sensation responded to application of an antifungal and the rash has dried up and is becoming scaly. The treatment may take about 4-5 weeks to produce complete results.
