Common Questions and Answers about Antibiotics and period delay

antibiotics

Avatar f tn 2 days late but read antibiotics can delay your period. Anyone taking antibiotics ever have a delayed period?
Avatar n tn I am 24 yr old with a very inactive sexual life. I had taken antibiotics (Cefspan) and Transamin (Tranexamic acid) thrice a day for 6 days for my ear bleeding as prescribed by the doctor. I had unprotected sex (used withdrawal method only) only on the 15th and 16th day of my 30-40 days cycle which was also my 5th day of antibiotics. I have normal blood flow during periods but the date is usually irregular. Now i still don't have my period.
461781 tn?1285609481 I remember when I used bcp's that Dr's would always say that when you were taking antibiotics to use condoms or other barrier methods because antibiotics would make the pill uneffective during the time you had to take them. Well I'm trying to ttc and I'm currently taking antibiotics, how would that affect my O? I'm in my O days and I'm hoping that antibiotics would not hurt ttc? I don't know, does anyone know how antibiotics affect your cycle?
Avatar f tn I have been under a lot of anti biotics from urinary infection, and latest i was having some infections around my chest towards my back and was told that the bacteria has become resistant therefore was given another level of antibiotics. I receive a normal period on december 6th without any delay. Then all of december i have been taking these antibiotics from around 18th december.
Avatar n tn t stress yourself out about it because stress can delay your period, and the infection might delay it also.
5264083 tn?1404665734 I was given a 14 day course of antibiotics and my period was 13.5 days late. So it's really a thing.
Avatar f tn there is no chance you are pregnant and i think the delay of the period's reason is Stress. I recommend you to don't eat any Antibiotics and consult to a gynecologist.
Avatar f tn Over the past 3 weeks i've been on a z-pac, amoxicillin, a liquid form of azithromicin, and had two shots in my hips for tonsilitis. Today I started my period and I'm not supposed to start until around the 28th. Some people say some antibiotics can affect your period and some say they can't. I'm jw if anyone knows the truth about that? I never have early periods, always late. and I havent had sex in 2 months and I've had my period already.
Avatar n tn I am not sure if I is really the antibiotic or the reason you are taking the antibiotic. but being sick and changes in routine as well as stress can all make us irregular with our period and delay it. So, I'd say it's all related.
Avatar f tn I've heard of women who have had a delayed period after taking antibiotics but I am not aware of any conclusive medical opinion to support that. Have you had unprotected sex or are you on birth control pills? Is there a possibility you could be pregnant?
Avatar n tn Sometimes stress can delay a period, but I agree with rissa. Always good to know if you don't get your period at least a week or so after its due.
Avatar f tn I was unaware that having an infection could delay ovulation and I did have an infection...hence the antibiotics lol That would certainly answer some of the questions swirling around in my head!
Avatar f tn Hi there and welcome. Ya know, I went through a period in my 20's in which my period came every 3 to 4 months due to issues with a slow functioning thyroid called hypothyroidism. The slow thyroid throws off hormones and then periods cease or are infrequent. Other reasons for not having a period exist as well. Best to see your doctor to discuss why you aren't menstruating.
Avatar n tn I'm 16. My boyfriend and I had our first time 2 weeks ago, and my period is late. Is it normal? We used protection.
Avatar n tn Hello I would like to ask a question about my period. Today its the 9th day that my period delayed. I took a pregnancy test 7 days ago but it was negative. Do I need to take another one? I am 23 years old, nearly 24 and my period never delayed!! It was always on time.. I had unprotected sex with my husband but he never finished inside. Also I took the after day pill twice in 2 or 3 months I can't really remember but not during the same month. Does this have to have anything with it?

Avatar f tn I have had regular periods for four years straight . In May I was put on birth control and I've still been regular. I ended my last period on July 21st had a lot of sex the next day and then got a uti three days later which would be the 24th and had sex that day too. On the 29th I started bleeding brown blood and figured it was associated with the uti.
338963 tn?1253660822 well im thinking i might be pregnant and im on the pill i missed my period 2 days ago and its always on time so im wondering how many of yo have gotten pregnant and how many days late where you
Avatar f tn i had period in 18th of august. but this month of September my period is delay. when my period be delay of 1 month?
Avatar f tn t stress about this (easier said than done, I know) as it will delay your period, and take a pregnancy test if it doesn't come within the week it's due.
Avatar f tn In the beginning of September, I had an abortion. I bled for about 3-4 weeks after that, and the doctor said that was normal and that is wasn't my period at all. I started taking birth control the day after the operation, and when it was time for my period to come around, I skipped the placebo pills and continued taking the birth control pills. So I should have gotten my period 11 days ago, but nothing has happened.
Avatar m tn No co infections do NOT delay the window period.
