Avatar f tn Should I get treated for the estrogen or should they level out once my thyroid is fixed? I am taking natural supplements for my adrenals and might want to try HC but I have heard not so good stories about it. Are there natural adrenal meds or how should I go abouts treating it? I finally feel abit better but I don't want to move cause moving equals hot flashes/sweating.
Avatar m tn The plant steroids in saw palmetto act on progesterone receptors, that causes a reduction in estrogen levels. According to the results of a large international trial published in the "Journal of Clinical Oncology" in April 2011, estrogen and progesterone receptor status is a predictive marker of early breast cancer and post-treatment relapse. As you get older your hormone levels decrease, and your fat cells in your body increases.

Avatar m tn We have a lot in the media about Anabolic Steroids and teenagers who have abused them having no clue what they are doing. This has the unfortunate effect of a biased opinion whenever I try to get an honest answer. My question today graduates to pro hormone use, I hear from people it is always bad to take pro hormones as a younger athlete. As I understand it, when one injects testosterone (lets say Testosterone Enanthate) the body converts (with an enzyme) the excess testosterone into estrogen.
Avatar n tn NSAIDS are part of the normal anti-inflammatory drops used after cataract surgery. So we almost all use NSAIDS plus topical steroids. You would need to get by on just NSAIDS.
Avatar n tn t have my blood test in front of me but cortisol was below normal, also estrogen, progest and testosteronews very low. I am taking prednisone 15mg a day for over a year now and can't get off of that. It's a mess. everything is short circuiting.
Avatar m tn Then there are a few new meds out, but they tend to raise estrogen so they are better for men or post-menopausal women. I have had some friends on them and so far no one has made it past a few months. But the field is very new. Cushing's is quite complex - so if you have it, you have to get diagnosed and then treated. One test is not enough to know if you have it.
Avatar m tn I had a reaction, got sick for one day, but the pain was gone for a week after that (not taking the Bactrim). After the pain came back, I was instructed to try the Bactrim again; got sick almost immediately, and again the pain was gone for a week. I have not taken the Bactrim since that one. Well, I finally got an ultrasound. I was informed that I had "a bit" of gynecomastia in the right nipple.

Avatar n tn I really believe her little body was overdosed on steroids, estrogen medicine and steroids have a serious drug interaction in that estrogen nearly triples the effect of steroids. Also, I do not believe hospital two realized hospital one had already injected her with steroids when they did. I think something was damaged in my daughter's body as a result.Maybe a system that deals with the breaking down and storage of fat?
751951 tn?1406632863 I was listening to an MS Specialist this week and he said steroids do nothing for the outcome. They are used for relief at the time. Basically they are one of the few old tricks and since science has little to offer an MS patient they fall back on steroids. I am not sure if this true but I have had two Doctors say even massive steroids at the beginning of ON will not stop the permanent damage. I am one of the few with MS who has never needed steroids. I am hoping it stays that way.
Avatar f tn Well, the whole endocrine system is interrelated. However, with the elevated antibodies, this is definitely a thyroid disease. You might start shopping for a new doctor who treats more by symptoms. Because of the antibodies, I would consider this a separate issue. I'd see an endo and ask some questions before making an appointment, like if he has experience and expertise in dealing with both thyroid and estrogen issues together.
Avatar m tn t get anti-psychotic drugs, but should have done. My gastro said he will never prescribe steroids for me again, as it could reoccur. I am now on methotrexate, 12.5mg injections each week and doing well. Liz.
Avatar m tn Then he prescribed me some anti-itch steroids, which sometimes helped but not for more than a month. Finally he gave up and sent me to a specialist (ENT). The ENT cleaned my ears thoroughly and later told me it could be a fungus, so he prescribed me a special anti-fungal shampoo to drop into my ears and had me continue with the steroids. He later did a culture from my ear and saw that there wasn't any fungus, so I stopped with the shampoo (which made my ears feel worse anyway).
