My Grandmother has been detected with a blockage in heart, and its not getting well by the use of medicines.
Her Doctor is suggesting Angiography now.
Her age is 81 by now. I wanted to take other Doctors opinion about this case.
Troponin T and Troponin I are accurate and are only released by cardiac muscle. If elevated, then they usually suggest angiography because there is a very high possibility that MI has occurred. Troponin also remains elevated for up to 14 days. Should you go for Angiography? Given the results of the test, I think the question is really "is it worth the risk not to have angiography".

He was undergone a Treadmill test, a few weeks ago and the Doctor observed borderline positive Treadmill Test and suggested an Angiography. He undergone Angiography a couple of days ago and the report said that the Right Coronary Artery is 100% blocked. According to the Cardiologist, who performed Angiography, the blockage is old. But, my father has no pain (Angina), no fatigue and other common symptoms of Coronary Artery Disease. He’s perfectly alright.
No test shows 'all eye problems' if it did that would be the only test we would do.
Was there any special reason why your cardiologist prescribed a cardiac MRI instead of say a heart catheterization with angiography? I am not sure which test would give the best and most accurate picture of the heart's arteries and occlusions or narrowings.
The gold standard is coronary angiography. I think you should undergo coronary angiography after the excision biopsy as you’ll also be assured if the coronary angiography comes out to be normal.

On the basis of this cardiologist advised to get CT coronary angiography. The result of the CT coronary angiography as given below:
1.Eccentric calcific in the RCA and distal LAD causing mild (20-30%) luminal narrowing.
2. No evidence of hypo perfusion or perfusion defects in the resting first pass myocardial enhancement.
Now our cardiologists has advised to get catheter angiography to rule out further.
Please advise me what should me my course of action.
However, to get a complete picture,they suggest to go for regular angiography with piercing the vein in wrist and putting the wire. Is it right that the CT Angiography isnt very accurate? Is there any better test than the regular angiography also?
Also as stated earlier she is also suffering from ASD(hole), for which docs told her to go for open heart surgery several years back, but still she was feeling fine and didnt go for surgery. Now this new problem with Angina.
What do you suggest?
A CT Angiography properly done and studied carefully by a highly trained Cardiologist used to CT interpretation of advanced techniques such as the 64 slice CT machines should be able to rule out most if not all heart diseases.Sometimes however a myocardial profusion scan can also be done to look at the smaller tiny blood vessels that the CT may not be able to expose.
An angiography will give the doctor a better look into what is going on inside of your heart and arteries. It is a tool used to diagnose, and give the doctor a picture of what needs to happen for your treatment.

i undergone TMT test and report says-- exercise for 6mins 50 seconds (stage III incomplete) on bruce protocol. resting heart rate 83beats/min BP 140/90.baseline ECG did not show any significant ST-T changes. He achieved max heartrateof150beat/min which was 88% of age predicted maximum heart rate.The BP response was normal. he achieved a work load of 8.2 METS. Peak double product achieved was 25500 mmHg. The reason for termination of test was THR achieved .

I had a nuclear stress test that may have showed an issue in my right coronary artery. I have no angina and excellent exercise ability. My cardio suggested to get an angiogram to see if it really blocked or just a false positive. I'm scared of the angiogram. Isn't the new 64 slice CT scan just as good to detect blockages as the invasive angiogram?
