Common Questions and Answers about Angiogram wrist

angiogram

Avatar f tn Even though I had this wrist discomfort, I would seriously ONLY ever recommend the wrist Angiogram, should you be reading my experience here. Because in comparison to the groin Angiogram & having a heavy wheat bag placed over the groin entry, the pain & discomfort is far less by having the wrist Angiogram, over the Groin Angiogram.
Avatar m tn I had an angiogram through my wrist 4 days ago...they said they nicked a vein but that my arm will bruise. I had a blood pressure cuff around my forearm and the thing on my wrist. Its been very painful and is still a little swollen. Today the bruise is almost to to my elbow, now aching and my hand has began tingling.
Avatar f tn My partner is having an angiogram after suffering chest pains a few weeks ago. NAD was found at the time from blood tests and ECG (done over 18 hours). Was kept in overnight. Had no discomfort since, but suffers from type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol which are all controlled and low due to medication. His chest pains were 4 weeks ago and he's had nothing since.

Avatar n tn m a 28 year old female, and I was just told I have suspected coronary artery disease. After a myriad of tests, angiogram (through the wrist) is my only option. I want to know about females here who have had angiograms and how they were. I'm actually petrified, and I'm supposed to go in two weeks. I know the risks are relatively low, but they stand out so much in my mind that I need to have some positive feedback here to help alleviate some of my fears... Thanks in advance!
Avatar m tn Has anyone had an angiogram with the catheter inserted in arm or neck instead of the groin? I don't think I could take the groin without serious nerve spasms.
Avatar m tn I have to go for angiogram in April, a bit nervous.
19887518 tn?1486048647 If you are going for an angiogram (catherization) they will have a clearer picture of the blood flow and if possible they will do what they can to clear it at that time. Make sure to ask if they are going through the wrist or groin, the wrist is easier on you! DISCLAIMER: I am NOT a doctor. You should only accept medical advise from a licensed professional.
17581860 tn?1458045259 The "golden standard" for checking the condition of a person's coronary arteries is a heart catheterisation. (angiogram) With this procedure, a catheter is guided from the groin or wrist to the coronary arteries and with the use of a contrast agent the arteries are made visible under X-ray radiation imaging. An echo does not provide information about the condition of coronary arteries. There are no medicines that can open heart arteries.
6887703 tn?1385789354 3 days after a cardiac angiogram I developed severe swelling and pain near the right wrist site. Went to ER 10 days later & a scan showed a clot. I was told to apply heat & return if worse. I returned yesterday (2 weeks later) & another scan showed the same as 1st. I was admitted & told they would do surgery to remove the clot. Yet the next morning they said they felt they would do more damage attempting to remove the clot. I was discharged on 60 mg.
Avatar f tn Also my cardiologist says he is going to do the stents through my wrist ,I had the angiogram through the groin .I was hoping they would put the stents in that way as well.
Avatar m tn Please can anyone help. I have an area of approximately 5cm in diameter by my wrist that feels a if it is on fire. There is nothing to show that I have anything wrong except for a little swelling under the surface. The pain has now duplicated itself further up my arm same size area towards the inside of my elbow and is also now doing the same thing towards my thumb joint.
Avatar m tn Hi there. The best test is an angiogram. Its an invasive test, but basically a tiny line is inserted in an artery in the groin or wrist. The doctor threads this to your heart, a contrast dye is released which shows on the monitor for the doctor to view. (Its like a moving live Xray) Blockages are generally spotted promptly with this test. The test result can be clear or if there is CAD, the doctor will discuss options including Bypass or more often Stent placement.
Avatar m tn s assistant with coronary artery problems which have required several catheterizations in the past, just told me about his last angiogram in which they ran the catheter through the WRIST, via the radial artery. He said it was a piece of cake compared to his previous experiences. Here is more info about this procedure: http://www.oregonlive.com/health/index.ssf/2011/09/treating_heart_disease_through.
Avatar n tn At the very end of the exam and discussion the cardio told us that my husband had the option of having a traditional cath which goes from the femoral artery in the groin up to the heart or a newer version starting in the arterial artery in the wrist. He suggested that this method involves less time to stop bleeding than the groin puncture which requires 4 - 6 hours lying flat.
Avatar f tn Well, I am not a doctor but, as I have had several angiographic procedures, give you my opinion anyway. This procedure is very quick, almost painless and gives the best information about the blockages of the heart. In many cases, the blockage is repaired with a stent during the same procedure. The whole procedure will take about one hour.
Avatar f tn I was started on Lopressor to slow my heart rate down and to lower my bp and am scheduled for an Angiogram next week. This past week I have been having chest pain in the center of my chest through to the middle of my back and my arms and legs feel like the circulation is being cut off. Any input on what I'm looking at would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar n tn I am constantly aware of my heart beat. My entire life I remember being able to feel my heart beating. My husband says he can't feel his without touching his throat or wrist. Anyhow, I am having tests done finally. When I am doing physical work, walking up steep hills or after eating certain foods, I feel my heart beat in a wierd pattern. Almost like it pauses and then beats harder...not faster.
Avatar f tn I have just been scheduled for an angiogram and I'm scared to no end I have a 3 year old son I love to death same as my soon to be wife. I'm so scared something will go wrong during the surgery how coming are complications? Also my ej is 73 is this bad?
Avatar f tn You better check with your doctors, I am not sure about the potential damage due to the radiation dose that you will take during the procedure. Also if they discover blockages in your coronaries, I do not know about the risk of the medication that you will need.
Avatar n tn After a cardigraph treadmill test I'm being referred for angiogram - I'm going on holiday in two weeks with a 3 hour flight. Should I travel?
329165 tn?1515471990 I had an Angiogram done in 01/2007. i have familial-cholestorol (latest lipo showed total of 6,9 fasting) During the Angio they only found coronary artery spasms. no blockages found. the past 4 weeks or so I have been experiencing chest tightness and some burning pains in chest - at rest. lasting under 1 minute and dissolves by itself. I have not been taking any Cholestorol meds (medical aid depleted) for the past 7months.
