ve finally found a problem as a result of paying for a CT Coronary Angiogram. All I know right now is that I have a narrowing of the left main artery but I don't know the extent or the cause. I am now waiting to have a standard angiogram but I am supposed to be flying to the US from the UK in 3 weeks. Has anyone flown soon after an angiogram? How about after a stent? Appreciate your thoughts.

Bypass surgery does not fix blockages in the way stenting does, it simply bypasses them with new grafts. Some blockages are not bypassed, for instance if they are not severe, or if the artery is small and does not supply a large area of the heart, or if the artery has no good runoff and is small distally. I am not sure why it was not done in your case, since I am not aware of all the details in your case.
However, LIMA graft failure can occur due to injury during harvesting of the graft, technical problems with the anastomosis (connecting location), poor distal runoff in the grafted native vessel, extreme mechanical “kinking” of the graft, or undetected subclavian artery stenosis (narrowing).
about 6 years ago i was diagnosed with pad. they put 4 stents in illiac arteries 2 on each side which helped some with the walking leg pain. I lost my insurance a few years ago and over the last year or 2 my leg pain as increased to the point it not only hurts when i walk or stand for a few minutes but now have pain when sitting for a short period.
An angiogram can be performed with a cath (intervention with a probe through the leg vessel to the heart), or ct scan (best is a 128 slice) that views the blood flow (dye has been injected) through the coronary arteries.
There isn't a high risk with a cath, and it is not painful, but have an understanding with the doctor whether or not your father wants a stent implant if there is some blockage, and whether the stent(s) are drug coated or not (obtain an opinon what the doctor prefers).
I have just been scheduled for an angiogram and I'm scared to no end I have a 3 year old son I love to death same as my soon to be wife. I'm so scared something will go wrong during the surgery how coming are complications? Also my ej is 73 is this bad?
If anything is found, all paths will send you back to the angiogram. Even if nothing is found during the angiogram, you will know with absolute certainty that there is nothing wrong. All cardiologists have told be they have had cases where the ct has missed something and this will haunt you for years, especially if you develop symptoms. Doctors will argue there is no blockage, you will believe there is one and a huge battle starts in your mind.
i KNOW IT SOUNDS LIKE ANGINA, BUT HAD A ANGIO A YEAR AGO AND WAS OK REGARDING BLOCKAGES VALVES ETC. AT THE TIME MY EF WAS BAD 15%, BUT WITH THE BP UNDER CONTROL IT CAME BACK TO 40%. FOR SOME MONTHS AFTER THIS MY EXERCISE WALKING TOLERANCE WAS OK. NOW I HAVE THE SYMPTOMS ABOVE AFTER WALKING HALF A KM . the cardio wants to do another angio? what is it? ANY IDEAS/ HELP?
You better check with your doctors, I am not sure about the potential damage due to the radiation dose that you will take during the procedure.
Also if they discover blockages in your coronaries, I do not know about the risk of the medication that you will need.

My partner is having an angiogram after suffering chest pains a few weeks ago. NAD was found at the time from blood tests and ECG (done over 18 hours). Was kept in overnight. Had no discomfort since, but suffers from type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol which are all controlled and low due to medication.
His chest pains were 4 weeks ago and he's had nothing since.
It felt like someone Was standing on my chest. I would push on it with two fingers and that would cause the pain to increase significantly, also any movement would put me an lots of pain. I did start to panic and felt it was time to call 911 and did so. The paramedics came quick and hooked me up to a heart monitor, they did a 12 lead ECG and the result were normal. They told me it could be muscular pain to rest.
