Angiogram wire

Common Questions and Answers about Angiogram wire

angiogram

Avatar f tn By any chance do you know if there is a significant difference in the number of images for an angiogram without stents vs the one that would have two stents? The hospital said that there are 6 discs for an angioplasty (2 stents) but only 1 disc for just the angiogram when they didn't place any stents. Thanks!
Avatar m tn I think 'pressure wire' is another term for 'ffr' or 'Fractional flow rate'. As with an angiogram, they insert a catheter and then thread a wire up to the arteries of the heart, but with a tiny sensor on the tip which measures the pressure of blood around it. It detects the flow rate of blood and pressure, showing the cardiologist the blockages which are affecting the heart. This reduces having unnecessary stents fitted.
Avatar m tn If you imagine a wire mesh stent expanded, only the wire has the drug. All the spaces between the wire obviously have nothing. Those balloons are quite new and have been having good success across Europe.
Avatar m tn What can be ruled out with a ct angiogram? Can we see what the EF is ? Also can they find any abnormalities in the shap of the heart? And can they see any major valve regurgitatiOn? I'm concerned ? Because some people rather have a conventional angiogram and don't see a ct angiogram useful and I would like to know why??
Avatar n tn My doctor suggested an Angiogram to make sure that something is not being missed. I am a little nervous and thought someone could answer some questions I have? 1. Is this a fairly safe procedure? 2. What are the risks? 3. Do all the serious risk only happen during the procedure? 4. What are the risk 24 hours, 48 hours and 72 hours after the procedure, meaning how long before you know you are out of the risk zone? 5.
Avatar f tn I have been dealing with chest pain for over a year now I have had several ekgs a stress test that came up abnormal so then they did an angiogram which came back normal yet I am still having chronic pain in the left side of my chest off and on and its sharp I DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO !!!!!!!!!! I am tired of hurting all the time....what should I do next???????????
Avatar m tn There is a difference between an angiogram and angioplasty. Angiogram is a diagnostic procedure! Angioplasty is therapeutic meaning treatment. Usually, or almost always the diagnostic procedure (angiogram) is performed before there is treatment.
1637177 tn?1300357144 My consultant is having difficulty to come to terms with my symtoms as no reason is evident from an MRI, echo, angiogram etc. and the last blockage found in the LAD was 72mm long and upto 95% blocked but was only found with a pressure wire test. Does anyone else have these problems and how are your doctors treating you.
19887518 tn?1486048647 If you are going for an angiogram (catherization) they will have a clearer picture of the blood flow and if possible they will do what they can to clear it at that time. Make sure to ask if they are going through the wrist or groin, the wrist is easier on you! DISCLAIMER: I am NOT a doctor. You should only accept medical advise from a licensed professional.
Avatar f tn Hi, My mother has had a triplr bypass surgery 1 1/2 years ago and since then had a tough time recuperating. She went recently for a angiogram and found that her lad is 70% blocked and that her Circumflex is 100% blocked she was told that the 100% blockage is in-ooperable and not told much about the 70% other than the doctors don't feel she needs to worry just to keep up with her veggie diet she should be fine.
Avatar f tn 1) left ventricular end-diastolic pressure= 20 mmHg. Left ventricular systolic pressure = 125 mmHg. No gradient across aortic valve. No segmental wall motion abnormality. Left ventricular systolic function normal. no significant aortic insufficiency or mitral regurgitaion. 2) coronary artery system is right dominant... A) right coronary artery is a large vessel with no angiographic stenosis. B) Lsft main coronary artery in normal in size..
Avatar m tn An angiogram is not really invasive, it's just passing a catheter wire up through your arteries to the heart, shooting out some dye and looking at the live x-rays on the monitor about you. About 2 hours after the procedure you will be on your way home.
Avatar m tn The most important vessels really are the LAD and the Circumflex because these deal with the left side of the heart which does most of the work, feeding oxygen/nutrients to the body. The right side of the heart only pushes blood through the lungs. So, in this report it appears the right side is fine, but the left is somewhat severe. The LAD is diseased heavily. I would say it is very restricted after the circumflex branch right the way down to the middle section of the vessel.
Avatar n tn At second attempt after 2 weeks from first, doctor tried to open RCA, angioplasty lasted for 5 hours but the wire could not pass through so could open RCA ,so he placed a stent at LAD which was 40% blocked. what should i do? Do i hve to go for open heart surgery or can i live with the block in RCA. is block in RCA life threating.
Avatar m tn The right artery is blocked however the angiogram and CT angiogram contradict each other. One says the blockage is at the top, the other says the blockage is in the middle. Personally, I would believe the angiography report because this has seen retrograde filling and it makes more sense. Your right artery then is blocked near the top, but the vessel is being fed by natural bypasses from the left side.
Avatar n tn Only Half the heart is being supplied with the blood it needs. Instead, we are waiting for a date for cath/angiogram/place stents from One of the five cardio specialists (in U.S.) in opening fully occluded arteries who is at our heart center.
Avatar m tn I do have a fake front tooth that they like drilled up into my gums and put it in there by like a wire or something like that, that was done like 12 years ago.I'm a 25 year old otherwise healthy male, here the past 4 days I've noticed that I've been having a very strange taste in my mouth that will not go away no matter how often I brush my teeth. My appetite is horrible, I force myself to eat once a day, I've lost about 7 pounds.

Avatar m tn I believe that the amount of radiation exposure is much higher with ct over a standard angiogram. Everyone talks about risks, but if you want clear results, an angiogram is the best option. If your CT shows a blockage, you will have to go for an angiogram anyway. The risks are very small indeed with an angiogram.
Avatar m tn There is no guarantee that meds will stop the disease progression. I am assuming that you have symptoms or else the angiogram would not have been done. The choice is obviously yours, because it's your body and no one can force treatment choices on you. I'm just trying to think more long term, than the next couple of years. If any of those blockages become 100%, then it would make stenting far more difficult because a thin wire has to be pushed through the hard plaque.
Avatar n tn Not everything is visible on an angiogram. You might be developing collateral vessels which is natures way of bypassing blockages. If this is the case, you wouldn't need intervention. My right artery is totally blocked halfway down, but my body opened natural bypass vessels around the blockage which gives a great flow of blood. Sometimes I wonder if Cardiologists don't give enough time for these to open.

Avatar m tn Firstly, your cardiologist has taken your pain seriously and investigated appropriately with a nuclear stress test and a coronary angiogram. The second piece of good news is that your coronary angiogram was “clear”, meaning that you do not have any significant narrowings or blockages in your new bypass vessels. I am also pleased to hear that you have attended cardiac rehabilitation and appear to be motivated to continue with regular exercise. So why are you experiencing pain?
Avatar n tn Hello, this question is about my eighty-three (83) year old grandfather who had quadruple bypass surgery in November 2007. This is six-months after the surgery, and a strange phenomenon occurred. Out of nowhere, a wire protruded from my grandfather's chest. It was actually an area between the stomach and the chest. My mother and I are baffled, we did not call the hospital but we are taking him to a doctor. He did not complain of any pain when it was coming out and the wire left no blood.
Avatar f tn I have just been scheduled for an angiogram and I'm scared to no end I have a 3 year old son I love to death same as my soon to be wife. I'm so scared something will go wrong during the surgery how coming are complications? Also my ej is 73 is this bad?
