Then a guide wire is passed through the blockage and a catheter is slid over the wire and passed the blockage. The catheter has suction and is slowly pulled back to remove any clot material. Another image is then taken. This may be done 2 or 3 times. Then a balloon is used to enlarge the artery and nitro is given to prevent any spasm. Then the stent is put into position and inflated with a balloon for about 20-30 seconds before the balloon is removed. More pictures are then taken.
I think 'pressure wire' is another term for 'ffr' or 'Fractional flow rate'. As with an angiogram, they insert a catheter and then thread a wire up to the arteries of the heart, but with a tiny sensor on the tip which measures the pressure of blood around it. It detects the flow rate of blood and pressure, showing the cardiologist the blockages which are affecting the heart. This reduces having unnecessary stents fitted.
They performed an angiogram and the doctor tried to insert the balloon without success. He said he could only get it in half way because prior operations had left to much tissue in the way. Is there a chance there is a doctor around that has more experience in this procedure. Is there an alternative course of action?

Although the wire is very thin, and after placement, is secured in place using tape, I still felt concerned that my movements could affect the placement. I was assured by the radiology staff that the wires are deeply inserted and the only way to dislodge it would be to pull on it.
I was transported from the radiology center to the out-pt surgery department of the hospital and was then wheeled by gurney to the operating room.

Hi, My mother has had a triplr bypass surgery 1 1/2 years ago and since then had a tough time recuperating. She went recently for a angiogram and found that her lad is 70% blocked and that her Circumflex is 100% blocked she was told that the 100% blockage is in-ooperable and not told much about the 70% other than the doctors don't feel she needs to worry just to keep up with her veggie diet she should be fine.
The process they do here was they perforated the ear lobe by a sharp silver wire and simaltaneously fit the gold ear stud. When he was inserting the silver wire in the stud I saw him put this wire in his mouth first. And then after 15 seconds he used the same wire to Pierce the lobe. Is there any risk here if he was hiv positive. The wire was put inside the stud and was pulled out of ear lobe along with the stud. Later he removed the silver wire from the stud .

The owner used the iron wire tight up). I scare some hiv patient was pricked by the iron wire and leave the blood on the iron wire surface, I also worry about my finger blood was not clotted that time so the hiv virus(if the iron wire got it) would go into my body through the blood. What I found to be extremely painful was the core biopsy, but, looking back, I know my fears really took over and I became very emotional during it, and now I'm deeply embarrassed.
It hurt so bad, that they numbed me up extremely well for the wire loc., and it was completely fine! I was also so scared from the first procedure, that I elected to have general anesthesia for the lumpectomy. I have absolutely no regrets on that!!

Went to the surgeon and he told me he would do a lumpectomy and send the tissue he will withdraw to the pathologist for further test. I will have a wire localization and an injection for the sentinel lymph node on the morning of the surgery and have the surgery right after. He has proposed that I do 5 weeks of radiation but this will depend on the pathologist report.

I had a wire guided excisional biopsy a few weeks ago. At post-op things seemed OK. There was no infection and the incision was healing nicely. However, I still have soreness and it is more painful now than it was right after surgery. Also, the whole right side of my breast is hard and this breast is now larger than the other one.
I fractured my 5th metacarpel, an oblique fracture of the shaft. Original x-Ray showed it was not displaced and I was in a cast for 2 weeks. At my follow up fracture had displaced and I had rotational deformity. Surgery was recommended. A week ago I had a k wire inserted. My surgeon has said he will remove my cast after 4 weeks but won't remove the wire for 3 months!!! This is contrary to everything I've read and I wonder if anyone has experienced this?
I didn't have the pain during the angiogram however I did have it during the stress test. I am going to speak with my Dr Tomm. I will bring it up too him . when the Dr spoke with me about the results to the angiogram he did say there were spasms however he was not worried about them because it is sometimes triggered by the test.
I can think of a few problems with using a wire.The wire would not expand or contract during and after an erection and it would move around inside the penis and not stay in place.It would also be uncomfortable when erect and possibly cause scarring.If the wire were covered in a rubber like silicone it would help but the wire and silicone might deteriorate and need to be replaced every few years.
